Remember Monday – “What The Hell Just Happened?” (United Kingdom Eurovision 2025)
Review: Remember Monday – “What The Hell Just Happened?”
Jonathan: “What The Hell Just Happened?” – is exactly what I thought after listening to this for the first time. The constant changes of pace completely threw me for a loop. Despite some stellar vocal harmonies from Remember Monday, it’s hard to latch on to exactly what they’re selling when you’re too busy reeling from the constant whiplash of hearing an almost brand new song every 30 seconds. Although I’ve been able to settle into the entry overtime, and now appreciate the theatricality of it all, first impressions matter at Eurovision – and that worries me for how well this will be received on the night.
Score: 6
Deban: Fun Fact: One can slay by blending multiple genres in three minutes. The UK’s musical efficiency at Eurovision this year is compelling, and Remember Monday’s blend of vocal harmonies deserves its own masterclass. Undeterred by naysayers, Charlotte, Holly-Anne and Lauren have spent years honing their craft on the theatre stage. Their decade-long sorority shows when performing live and in interviews. Each girl’s solo riff is a good teaser, and when combined, their voices build into a transcendental climax. From The Voice, to the West End, and now onto Eurovision, this progression feels natural and celebratory.
Score: 8
William: Charlotte, Holly-Anne and Lauren have incredible voices, they drop stunning harmonies, and they ooze a playful insouciance that’s really endearing. They are rightly stars of the West End, where voice is currency and songs don’t need to be on-trend or chart-topping. Eurovision, of course, is another story. This song is very loud and very Frankenstein — it stitches together genres from pop to musical theatre to a completely random George Michael inspired bridge. Worst of all, it doesn’t allow each of these three amazing personalities to stand out and shine. Instead they bleed together in a wall of sound that screams WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED in all caps. I love the artists — they’re talented, warm and such great ambassadors for the BBC. But ultimately, the song lacks the hook and emotion that would make it my cup of tea.
Score: 3
Ruxandra: What great energy this song delivers! It’s definitely a fun and feel-good track. The girls have great vocals, but more importantly, they have fantastic harmony when they sing together. Although their voices shine, the song makes me feel like I’m listening to three different songs put together. I like them all, but the transitions from one part to another aren’t that smooth. That said, they bring a Little Mix vibe with a twist, and that’s actually really cool.
Score: 7.5

UK 7/12
UNITED KINGDOM – This accidental meme is my spiritual guide whenever I watch the news in 2025. What the hell is happenning, and why is everyone acting like any of this is normal? Okay, back to the song. It’s an odd blend of 1960s instrumental backing track and 1990s girl group vocal track. Feels like two songs are simultaneous clashing with one another. The lyrics feel funny in how inoffensive they are while presenting themselves as scandalous. The lengthy title turns out to be a surprisingly catchy hook, even if it’s indeed been repeated many times over. Luckily, this band… Read more »
UK entry this year is unique, there’s nothing like it in the rest of the Eurovision Song Contest!! It’s a great song which takes people through a journey about empowering Woman in 2025!!! Remember Monday have created a song which is I think Jury Focused this year because of the past the UK know that we Can’t Bank on the Televote unfortunately!!! Amazing LIVE vocals and Harmonies ???. The Girls have done the UK ?? PROUD this year and Deserve do Well so Support them on the Grand Final ?????????????????.
I quite like this song, I can’t disagree with all the negatives if we are talking purely from a Eurovision entry perspective, but the girl are great singers and they have been working hard enjoying every minute. When I heard the acoustic version it seemed to make more sense to me, less jarring though the musical changes. My biggest gripe is the fact they sing “what he hell just happened” twice in a row but without vocal or musical changes in the repeat, then the line repeats and repeats throughout the song, which gets very tiring. Just some slight changes… Read more »
United Kingdom – I’m quite fond of our entry this year. As soon as I first heard it, it immediately put a big smile on my face – it is such great fun! They have so much charisma and fantastic voices. I have no doubt the girls will sing the roof off and hopefully they’ll give us a good result. 7.5/10
Just seven songs left. The wiwi jury just seems to be going so fast.
I’m pleasantly surprised that the UK have sent a group of young women to ESC. When was the last time that happened? 1999. (Yes, seriously.) Considering that such all-women groups have been a staple of the UK’s pop scene for a long time, this selection for ESC was overdue. Another thing that was overdue was giving a bit of West End theatricality, another top UK selling point, tick. So all the UK needs now is a song. Ah, haha. Erm… okay. This song is a bit all over the place, isn’t it? This song reminds me of someone who keeps… Read more »
People have an issue with the “message” of the song when 2 years ago they went crazy for the Karjia which talking about drinking and getting trash! Ok double standards
23rd place: United Kingdom: Remember Monday are cute and have great voices and harmonies. However, this is a song that I haven’t really listened to twice. I find it disjointed and trying to create a Broadway kind of vibe which was never my thing. However much I like the good vibes of the track, the fact that I never listen it doesn’t let me rank it higher.
Yeah – it kind of feels like there were two competing ideas for what the song should be, and they simply decided to combine the two.
I can’t believe the BBC really thought this was the best option for the UK. After some good years this feels like the typical mess they would go for. After a decent start, it gets to noisy and messy. At the same time, it doesn’t have anything really attractive or interesting. 1. Lithuania (7.75) 2. Cyprus (7.5) 3. Azerbaijan (7.5) 4. Armenia (6.75) 5. Czech Republic (6.75) 6. Spain (6.75) 7. Latvia (6.75) 8. Italy (6.75) 9. Malta (6.75) 10. Australia (6.75) 11. Switzerland (6.75) 12. The Netherlands (6.75) 13. Greece (6.5) 14. Norway (6.5) 15. San Marino (6.5) 16. Poland (6.5) 17. Estonia (6.25) 18. Ukraine (6.25) 19. Slovenia (6.25) 20. Denmark (6) 21. Iceland (5.5) 22. Serbia (5.25) 23. Luxembourg (4.75)… Read more »
I feel starting position # 2 coming on if “First Half” or “Producer’s Choice”
I forgot about ” Producer’s Choice” 🙁
Oh yeah I forgot about “producers choice”!
Perhaps we won’t get it this year as Sweden’s 2024 position had been pre-assigned
18. UK – Remember Monday – What the hell just happened? – 7/10 – this is and always has been a performance track for me. There is absolutely no way that I would listen to this in normal life, it is so overbearingly theatrical. However, the three singers are exceptionally professional and experienced, and as a Eurovision entry, there is no denying that this deserves a place in the top half for the performance alone. I’m absolutely certain that this will pop visually and audibly in Basel.
I think a score of just over 6 is pretty fair. Great artists with an incoherent mess of a song.
A top ten finish is pure fantasy. I reckon 13th to 16th.
Juries will like this, if jury history is anything to go buy they’re are suckered by a good vocal and harmonies. Staging will be crucial to the success of this however. If OG3NE could get Top 5 with the juries in 2017 with a worse song (imo) then I don’t see how this cannot come Top 10 with the juries a la Lucie Jones in 2017 also. Another entry to bring up is 2023’s Noa Kirel with Unicorn; a song to this day I’m baffled by and shocked that it did so well, 3rd Place….please. It was 3 minutes of… Read more »
I’ve learned to appreciate it during the season, it’s fun and feels typically British which is a plus.
A top 10 finish is doable imo.
Be positive you’ll get downvotes, be negative you’ll get upvotes, I hate this time of the year where people are unbearable, and it will be like that until the end of May whatever the results….
The score is very very ‘arsh
“Way up on the roof, jumped into the pool… you should try it too”
Um, no thank you. Not drunk. Not sober.
Hm. A glorification of binge drinking?
Getting so high/drunk that your memory of events is wiped… not really a wise or fun or cool thing to do.
WON’T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN
Eurovision is not a contest dedicated to children. End of the discussion.
Well, the junior one is. Also they will have a “family show” dress rehearsal in Basel. In any case, WTHJH is a terrible example for both children AND adults. Lyrically speaking.
Also you are not the arbiter of when discussions begin and end, Tino.
Aaaaaanyway, I only added that last bit for comic effect… like that lady in The Simpsons.
NOW it’s the end of discussion. Bye.
Like previous years since Sam Ryder, I am sure there will be a surprise in the final quarter of the song. Very jury likeable but hopefully will get some points from the televote. The girls’ harmonies alone do not deserve zero points.
Makes me sad that such great voices, such beautiful harmonies are wasted on this nuisance. These girls deserved better.
I like this one. I’m afraid it won’t have much televoting appeal, but the song makes me smile and the girls can sing (especially the blonde one). I hope it will be like for Lucy Jones back in 2017. Totally underrated by fans but able to reach the top 15.
I like the song very much. 10 points from me.
Unfortunately there are 10 better songs than this. Great vocals though.
I am inclined to agree, and we all know what that will mean on the 17th.
the juries will love this
Unfortunately, this song gives me null televoting points vibes! …
The UK, I’m sorry, zero points!!!
The song title is asking the right question. Another track to just have to survive this year.
7/10
hope the girls will smash it this year for us, and nothing to be embarrassed about. doesn’t deserve a bottom 5 finish, keeping fingers crossed for top 15
Not a shadow of doubt who will get my vote this year! Refreshing, fun and exciting!
