Erika Vikman – “ICH KOMME” (Finland Eurovision 2025)

Review: Erika Vikman – “ICH KOMME”

Tom: My winner for Eurovision 2025. I still remember the first time I heard “ICH KOMME” — I was transfixed, confused, and was ready to do whatever Erika Vikman told me to do. It is an intoxicating song, full of surprises, brilliant vocals, an irresistible beat, sex appeal and thrust! It has a similarly satisfying ‘climax’ as “SHUM” had back in 2021. But this time, I feel like I have joined a cult, drank the Kool-Aid, and I am ready to run through whatever brick wall Ms Vikman asks me to. I am ready to go to Finland in 2026.

     Score: 9.5

Pablo: Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Electric Six. Berghain. There’s just so much wrong with “ICH KOMME” that it loops the whole way back into being extremely right, all the while treading the finest of lines pretty masterfully. The word to define this is “unapologetic”, between the loud choruses, unique instrumental choices, and the thrusting last part that ends so abruptly, you have no choice but to bask in the stupor. This marks the evolution of Erika Vikman as a performer. She stepped in the spotlight asking “What if I did this?” and now returns loudly proclaiming “I AM doing this!” Finland has it all to do something really special once again.

     Score: 10

Lucy: Oh. My. Goodness. Erika is a superstar. Her stage presence is unlike anyone else in this year’s contest that we know of so far, and “ICH KOMME” elevates on the fan adoration she picked up in UMK 2020. A much higher quality song that builds to the perfect climax, providing the perfect on-brand finish given the song’s meaning. It’s retro, but bringing it firmly into 2025. It’s sexy, but still OK to watch with the family. It’s camp, but accessible to all. She deserves to win, realistically. I don’t know if she will, but I’d be thrilled for her.

     Score: 9.5

Tomas: Do I think Erika Vikman should be handed that Eurovision trophy in Basel? YES. I think Erika would be the most deserving winner this year. Five years ago, she introduced herself with the pink bodysuit-strong performance accompanied by a couple of bears. On the final night of the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, she’ll be ICH KOMME-strong and will make the whole continent come together. Let’s just give her the trophy!

I can see juries going for this very well, the construction of the song isn’t relying on that same old formula – vocal cabability is very good and as a performance it just is the moment to see. This is what Eurovision is all about.

I find more than 8.5 for this song extremely exaggerated.

Cyprus passing through semifinals these days with backtrack doing everything, will make some people deaf to what actual singing really is, huh.

Erika has actually good vocals.

True to recent form, Finland have a song that is totally unique in the 2025 ESC selection. It may not be to my personal taste, but it is in my Top 10, because even I appreciate that the concept, the creativity and the performance are all at maximum levels here. This song therefore deserves a maximum review. Caution: This is my longest review of ESC 2025, so please no complaining or moaning that’s it’s too long or too thick (or any other silly puns). We first have a signature one-line Intro, which is an old trick some artists use to… Read more »

In order to stay relevant, ESC must not go into this too overtly sexual direction. Yes, gays are an important part of the ESC experienc, as for many of them the contest is what football is to many straight guys. And that is fine as long as no overtly sexual gay content is supplied. Think of how Olly (UK24) tanked with his sex club act. And deservedly so. And hopefully Erika’s sex act goes the same way. ESC must remain a show for all. Gay, straight, child, granny, everybody. Without the sex thing that most people do not want to… Read more »

I wasn’t a fan of the song at first but the whole thing was completely elevated with the live performance at UMK. Not that Erika is a great singer (I think her vocals are a bit weak) but the song is 100% made for the stage. She is in my ultimate top 4 this year with Sweden, Austria and Australia.

I agree with the first part of your sentence. I think it is the typical song that eurofans get crazy about, but it is not so much loved by the general public.

Bravo to Erika for being both sensual and raunchy but not outright inappropriate. If you’re gonna go with an erotic sort of euphemism, this is honestly a good way to do it. While I don’t think that – as of now – Finland is a true contender, she could (and very well SHOULD) finish top 5 this year!

27th place: Finland : I believe that I will probably elevate Erika in my top in the final ranking after the Wiwi Jury is over because the whole package is starting to grow on me. The problem is that this is a song I would by no means listen to standalone: it’s a performance track, and during the performance, Erika sells it magnificently. It is a worthy successor to the streak of Finnish craziness, that we have become used to in recent years at ESC. And for this purpose, it works amazingly!

My absolute winner of this year and probably in my top 5 in the last 10 years. If it wasn’t already obvious, I think, with Erika, Finland really consolidated their status as an Eurovision powerhouse.

Finland – I admit I have a slight bias towards Erika as I’m very much into her music, and this song is a little different to what she usually does. It did take a few listens to get used to a different sound, but I love this. The production quality is really what shines and when we get to the climax, I’m 100% sold. She sells this song so well! I do have quite a few songs I’d love to see win, and this is absolutely one of them. 9/10

17. Finland – Erika Vidman – Ich Komme 7/10 – oh Erika, as Koit Toome once lovingly said, We Could Have Been Beautiful. There are elements in the production and melody here which I absolutely love, but sadly the main “Ich Komme” refrain is too irritating and there are too many childish elements which are not wunderbar. I really want Eurovision iconography, I fear that it might end up a little one-dimensional to reach those heights. I will still very much enjoy watching the spectacle.

Finland is back to old strength after having the best NF of the year. Made of and Aina would have made great Eurovision songs. Erika’s song may not exactly be my thing but the song does have merit and some good moments in the production. I also like her confidence and self-determination. People love to hate women and also men who have a healthy sexuality, Erika is a great example of refusing to feel shame.

FINLAND – This edition of the ESC will reach an appropriate climax when one and only Erika Vikman performs at the end of the second semi final. She could have come at the Eurovision stage five years earlier when her iconic Cicciolina won the televote at UMK, but alas, the fate wanted her to give us that pleasure in 2025 instead. Now that we are out of puns, let’s analyse this intense slice of music. What I like about it is just how well-produced and sonically full it is. The verses are accompanied by the dramatic backing horns, and the… Read more »
