“Your eyes see pain, for my eyes it only gives a feeling” – Katarsis share a story of chaos and sadness in the “Tavo akys” lyrics

Katarsis will represent Lithuania at Eurovision 2025 with “Tavo akys“. Another fully Lithuanian entry is hoping to impress the viewers at home and bring the country to the Eurovision final.

Lithuania at Eurovision 2025: Katarsis with “Tavo akys”

Lithuania will be represented this year by a band from Klaipeda – Katarsis. They managed to emerge as winners in a Eurovizija.LT 2025 final filled with talented Lithuanian artists, overcoming the likes of Lion Ceccah and Liepa.

The band aren’t newcomers or let alone afraid of the stage. Katarsis are an experimental rock band from Lithuania that started as a solo project of Lukas Radzevicius. While still in school, he began composing and releasing his own music and decided to form a band with whom he would be able to perform live in the concerts when he started receiving invitations but couldn’t perform alone.

The most prominent release up to participation at Eurovizija.LT was “Vasarą galvoj minoras”, which was released back in 2020 and has already acquired over 4 million streams on Spotify.

Back in December of the last year, Katarsis was announced as one of the 45-big list of competing acts at the national pre-selection to determine the Lithuanian entry for Eurovision 2025. Katarsis comfortably qualified from semi-final four, becoming both jury and televoting favourites. The band performed eighth in the grand final inside Kaunas Zalgirio Arena, reaching the final top three alongside Liepa and Lion Ceccah, where they triumphed with 15,889 televotes.

Fast forward to today, the band is preparing to bring their composition to the big Basel Eurovision stage. Their preparations have seen them perform at Amsterdam’s, London’s and Madrid’s Eurovision pre-parties.

What do the “Tavo akys” lyrics mean?

“Tavo akys” explores the emotions of sadness and sharing that with someone.

Lukas opens the song with “Empty words only fuel the fire,” which is followed up with “The houses are burning,” setting an image of chaos and a prevalence of empty talk, which are the cause of it. Lukas continues to establish a character within his world, only known as ‘her’, but we understand that it’s someone that Lukas wants to protect.

“Tavo akys” is split into a few sections and the beginning if followed by a repeat of two lines: “Your eyes see pain / For my eyes, it only gives a feeling”. It’s ‘her’ character’s eyes that Lukas sings about. Lukas doesn’t focus on his pain, rather it’s experiencing it with someone and being seen that matters to him.

Then we switch up to another set of 2 lines: “Don’t be afraid, I cry in your dreams”. It’s as if the singer is trying to calm the spectator of his pain, while confirming the dream of ‘her’ is the only place where she can see Lukas’ true feelings, a place he’s not in control of. As well, the line “I cry in your dreams” could flag to us that the whole previous setting that was established in the song is only a dream of someone.

The song finishes with growing intensity and a burst of emotions when we only hear “tavo, tavo, tavo…” being repeated, which we see as a growing energy being delivered by the band and the final climax of the song. A true moment of catharsis for Lukas.
