Another day, another set of Eurovision 2024 second rehearsals. Friday sees the remaining seven acts from semi-final 2 returning to Basel’s St. Jakobshalle arena for another chance to perfect their performances.

This time around, they’ll have 20 minutes to undertake another few run throughs and to check whatever changes they requested following the first rehearsal.

The EBU will release 30-second teaser clips on social platforms throughout the day, with a full roundup published on YouTube at the end.

We’ll try to update this post as things drop. Regardless, please share your thoughts in the comments section throughout the day!

I’m worried for Denmark and Czechia.
Finland and Israel are safe bets.
Serbia and Georgia are OUT!
Luxembourg, still on the fence.

My interpretation of Israel’s staging. So the Hebrew verse of Song of Songs means in English “Many waters won’t extinguish love, nor will rivers wash it away”. That’s why all the water in the background. She is in mourning for the loved ones she lost, but instead of sinking into despair and depression, she makes a decision to “chose the light”, and climbs to the light. While the water and darkness want to take her, she surrounds with light. It won’t extinghuish her love. Everyone has pain, don’t cry alone, and wishes for better times to come. Wishing Yuval all… Read more »

Why so serious? Being from Serbia, really wasn’t a fan of Mila, but now I am hooked up and I have watched this rehearsal clip a dozen times, this is a pure comedic gem. Great meme potential also. He is not going to win, maybe even qualify, so let us have some fun.

Same here. I don’t like the song (I liked Belgium’s song more in 2024) but I am afraid it won’t click with wider audiences. Only niche audiences may resonate with this entry as presented.

Not seen a good dragging since John Sergeant on Strictly! Poor Princ.

Loving the dolls house.

2nd semi is so weak, especially 2nd half. There should be Puppy by Finland, certain Top 3. Instead we have 8 mediocre pop songs. Finland can reach 15th place maybe, but they had winner alert song. Puppy, we still miss you. But this year is weak completely. Only Austria, Germany or Albania have winner vibes.

Aren’t juries gonna prevent this? They certainly did so last year against a song I still love. I’m pretty sure it’ll be similar. A couple of points here and there from countries who want to please Israel but ultimately an amount that kicks them out of the race.

Excuse me? To ‘please’? 5 Individual jury members don’t please anyone. Norway’s jury gave Israel 8 points last year and that’s coming from a country which is very vocal and critical against Israel’s policies. One of the jury members later admitted he ranked it last for political reasons. It didn’t stop the other 4 from doing their job based on personal taste and artistic attributes which is exactly what their job description requires. It’s also worth reminding that Israel’s jury 12 points to Luxembourg was a stain on those 5 members’ credibility and a breach of what they signed up… Read more »

Downsides;
a) Kaj-phenomenom had spread like covid-19, can’t prevent telewinner any more.
b) Juries constant negative attitude for sexual, although Finland sound also bit a rock (Måneskin, Blind channel) too.

Ok Serbia also made some questionable choices… I mean I find his hair funny when they drag him on the floor but is funny really the vibe you wanna go for with a Balkan ballad? I doubt it. Maybe it’ll make sense on a Thursday.

Actually, he made us talk about him, and he’ll do that to the audience of the semi final. No meter something is good or bad, if it’s extreme it’s benefiting the performer. Psychological trick.

I wish Israel had spent the same amount of effort into creating a good song as all the money they are throwing at everything else. But frankly, I find that staircase thing hideous. The exaggerated pyro shower would work better without it.

The more I see of Erika Vikman the more I’m convinced she should be this years winner. She brings the fun Kaarija brought but with better vocals and also more jury appeal. The whole staging is also simply brilliant. It’s about time we went to Finland anyway!

Erika looks great. I’m totally hooked on her song now and if her live vocals justify it, she’d be an excellent winner. But I need to hear significantly better vocals than Käärijä from her. The studio version is brilliant.

Denmark’s staging is very Carola 2006 – really hope the dancers will get a chance to pop more (it’s a short clip, so they sure will). I do however fear that the camera work is too classic. The snippet is from the songs climax and it doesn’t really do anything special. So it doesn’t really excite me, atm. Hope the elements leading up will bring more of an elevation and spark to the performance – which Sissal deseves.

Carola got a good result in 2006. And in both of her other years.

I love all of Carola’s entries and performances. But Invincible is 19 years ago. My point is that staging has changed a lot since, so doing that type of staging now, can give a very dated and too classic of a vibe.

omg I’m kinda worried. I get nq vibes from those 30 seconds 🙁 I seriously can’t handle another year without Denmark in the final. So apparently she’s sick and that’s why her vocals are shaky and she lacks energy. Luckily there is a lot of time to recover until thursday.

I’m trying to be optimistic here, but that color scheme just has a curse in Eurovision + Denmark also has a curse.

Really looking forward to Finland, Serbia and Luxembourg. I was hoping for Switzerland, France, UK and Spain too but soon enough, I guess. I’ve really gotten into the fun ones in recent days. UK and Spain grew on me a lot out of the blue and Sweden and Finland I already sort of liked but now I really love them. Didn’t expect this at all, but now I feel like this year could yield a couple of classics after all. I thought you and I were the only two persons who appreciated Serbia, Fatima. I was confident that Latvia would qualify last year despite concerns by others, younger than me probably, about the “staging”. I believe if Princ stood and belted out the track wearing a refuse sack, it would qualify (I saw him in Amsterdam). We need this type of song, along with Lithuania, for whom I will also vote. It’s upsetting to me, a fan of over 50 years, that people are so influenced by the “staging” exclusively. People are suddenly now all over the likes of Cyprus,… Read more »
