Finland’s Erika Vikman stood on an elevated mic shooting off sparks. Sweden’s KAJ sang about the virues of going to the sauna. France’s Louane sang to her deceased mother in the middle of a sandstorm. Italy’s Lucio Corsi crooned at a piano as subtitles flashed on the screen. But in the end it was Austria’s JJ — who sang popopera on a small boat as the LED storms buffeted him about— who won the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.

A pitty Baller didn’t win… A real Banger! I’m listening to it in repeat…
I tend to block out stuff I (heavily) dislike and I really dislike this fauxpera stuff. It’s not even so bad that it’s good and provides fun with repeated viewings due to giggles. It’s just bad!
I was just thinking who did we have before JJ and Memo… There was that Romanian guy….Was it Cesar? Or Romeo? Horrible! AN EAR BLEED! Then there was Greta Thunberg’s mum…Another terrible song! Oh, oh, there was that Aussie woman with a stick up her bottom…My Gaaaawd!
Who else am I not remembering?
At this point, Eurovision fans should really get together and call out EBU about the results. It’s much more serious than most of people think. Not only the results are rigged, but also paying to send a vote is a total waste of money. When there’s s rigged voting, it means something needs to be done. First thing should be either removing Moroccan Oil from their sponsor list or really renegotiating the terms with them. Israel should be out ASAP.
the results were not falsified. I am amused by clowns like you who do not suspect Ukraine, Estonia for this, and the jury that votes politically. But of course, hatred for Israel blinds your eyes.
Eurovision has been spoiled for several years by clowns and Ukraine from 2022 which gets free votes from people but of course the whole time crying about Israel. It’s strange that no one suspects Tommy Cash who is pro-Russian of buying votes from Russia. The Ukrainian jury gave him 5 points when even Ukrainian music youtubers said not to vote for him. The jury in general in this Eurovision had to hug the money from some countries for the rigged vote. Latvia and Iceland also got a lot of points in the semi-finals which is strange because no one liked… Read more »
Thank you for the post… I learned something
Also the singer from The Netherlands of last year is pro russian. And friend of Tommy Cash. It’s more than clear EBU is sleeping deeply. Eurovision is influenced by Russia and Israel. Russia wants to destroy it as they do by the terrorist attacks they were trying to do using exploding parcels on the planes. Israel by they excessive nationalism. All this with the complicity of Estonian TV and Avrotros. My question is: why is this happening? Why EBU doesn’t intervene and if a broadcaster brings a singer that has expressed pro russian views they will exclude the singer, or… Read more »
Tommy Cash is not pro-Russia. He is a born in Estonia but has both Russian and Ukrainian roots. He has tried to distance himselv from being labelled a Russian (actually being labelled anything but Tommy Cash). And he condemned Russian invasion in 2022. He wrote: “It’s very hard to accept the current military actions, it’s all very sad! I am a strong opponent of any military aggression. I fully support the Ukrainian people and the people of Russia who do not support the invasion — it’s not their choice. And the Russian people he has collaborated with, have all condemned… Read more »
Tomy Cash does not have Ukranian roots and he shot videos with Russian artists and both of his parents are ehtnical Russians
Finally somebody who is saying the truth. Chanel was supposed to win in 2022,
but surprisingly enough, Spain wasn’t angry and it was all legitimate that the Ukranian song got all of those televotes and of course 12 points from all the baltics and poland juries.
well if israel wins next year because of bots, i suggest having a fully digital contest in 2027. maybe abba can represent sweden again
No need to lie (Israel bots…) to make your point !! This is already debunked as a FAT LIE – in a video I posted on other threads. Go and watch!
The lies spreaded about the bots have proven wrong in all of the checks. Yes those are political voting but they are made by real people who support Israel and are sick of the treatment to the Israeli singers. Yuval Raphael was threatened by a salughter in the middle of Basel during the Turquiz carpet parade, then during the show , in the first rows people were shouting to interupt her and two people even tried to throw red paint on her in the grand final performance. There are enough of non Jewish Europeans who do not agree with such… Read more »
One take away from this years results soft confirms a feeling I’ve had for a while, Little Big would have probably won in 2020. We can remove the Israeli and Ukraine televote juicing as Oct 7 and Russian invasion hadn’t happened yet. Dadi Freyr was the other front runner but would he have performed like KAJ did with the jury and televote? Little Big in 2020 were as big, if not bigger, as Tommy Cash is currently.
For sure, but I think juries would’ve tanked their song down so that at best they would finish in the middle of the top 10
If Tommy can get 9th with the jury In a year with several big jury songs I think Little Big could have got a decent result, even with Gjons Tears, Mamas and Ulrikke hoovering up points
diodato would’ve crushed the jury vote
The Georgian singer would have won the jury’s vote.
and then there was the Swiss singer who won it the year after with a much less interesting song and that good band the roop from lithuania.
Diodato would have gotten a lot but in that year that was cancelled, it would have spread all over the place. There were many good songs.
Israel (and to a lesser extent Ukraine) ruins the chances of the televote favorites to win the contest. As long as Israel is involved the jury winner will keep on winning and it’s annoying. The public wants to see their favorite win. Then again, thank god Austria won the jury vote because the contest would not even have existed next year.
🙂 🙂 🙂 FINALLY FOUND THE ISRAELI BOTS IN SPAIN 🙂 🙂 🙂

PUT SUBTITLES IN YOUR LANGUAGE !!!!!!!
Muchas Gracias a usted. Glad I saw this commentary and the great Spanish Eurovision Twittermsnia meltdown.
EBU should do something about “professional juries”, establish certain standards about the jury members composition, like asking the countries to have a music school professor, a theater producer and diverse music experts. To have a The Voice ex participant only leads to vote for Espresso Macchiatto because “It was one of the most popular Song” (and this is real).
Agreed.
Real musicians or people working in the music industry, or simple fans of music KNOW that Tommy Cash deserved a 0 points for his “performance”. It’s supposed to be a song contest : the guy can’t sing, that’s a fact. What a shame some “juries” gave points to this.
So people want an investigation about Israel’s televote victor, and I agree.
But first, please check the “professionnal juries” results.
Estonia coming 9th in the juries is an insult to at least 17 singers.
The Austrian singer was also not the best live… was singing out of tune but not like Tommy. Tommy’s song was interesting. Good vocalists came from France and Switzerland but then those girls were with white appearance and they do not belong to the LGBTQ community. The fact that the Croatian singer didn’t win last year also had to do with this.
Aside from the obvious fraud of Israel getting 12 from the British public, Poland getting 10 and Lithuania getting 8 were also weird (Matla, Finland, Sweden all got public points but that’s not a surprise – I can see a lot of Brits buying any of those songs). I would imagine that the number of votes overall has dropped this year meaning the diaspora vote stands out more…
its not fraud they got our 12 i voted 20 times for Isreal and i know loads of others who did aswell
Latvia, Lithuania and Poland always score highly in Irish, Norwegian and UK televote
Similarly Albania do well from Swiss and Italy and Armenia do well from France. Diaspora votes are very real.
But with Lithuania its every year like this… regardless of the song.
Every year. they never finish their televote with less than 50 points.
Lithuania is always getting 8 or 10 or 12 from the UK. Before the whole political thing with Israel started it was always Lithuania or Poland that were getting it. It’s the same in Ireland… they always get 8 or 10 or 12… has been like this for years. It doesn’t matter what kind of song they send. Check all of the last 10 years.
Someone at YT calculated the scores under the old system (2013-2015 procedure). A lot of movement up and down, but JJ holds at #1, with 3 scoring over 200…
https://youtu.be/z-gJ8CiXWUc?si=PJ9TvPLnJeLbhlvj
Not true that there is a lot of movement up and down. Austria wins with 257 points, Israel 2nd 216, Estonia 3rd 195, Sweden 4th 160 and Italy 5th 131. Only notable movers are Ukraine 9th to 6th, Finland 11th to 9th, Alb*nia 8th to 11th, Germany 15th to 13th, Armenia 20th to 17th, Denmark 23rd to 21st and Spain 24th to 26th. All other movers are either no change or up or down by just 1 place
Thank you, much better results.
those are the same scores that made the amazing songs and performances from Italy and Russia to lose to that lousy copied swedish song in Vienna 2015.
Well, it just hit me that wasted love is the first black-and-white Eurovision winner since 1967’s puppet on a string. And the last Eurovision broadcast in black-and-white was held in Vienna Austria.
Not 1968 like Hazel and Sandra said!
To all the Hysterical drama queens, abnoxious self entitled and completely ignorants..The E B U can not (and will not) ban the participation of Israel! Deal with it!! And no – it is not an issue of economic sponsoring whatsoever….(let alone, it helps..). The E B U promissed a concise conversation about, most likely to settle and adjust operational cues with unbriefed broadcasters executives. The subject is far more complex (for the uni-brain cells in this forum..). Let alone some recent political unfolding mattters (well reported by the Guardian), but the E B U is in need and largely operating… Read more »
You’re not helping your case with this kind of rhetoric.
Is It true that now Austria is asking EBU for economic help to host Esc Next year???
Is It possible that they cannot host It and then they had to ask the one Who finished second??
That would be the best Eurovision twist plot ever.
No it’s not true…
Nope. It’s true that we are kinda broke but everyone already agreed to host, the broadcaster as well as the government. Literally everyone agreed. And we will be just fine unless Israel bankrupts us with their security demands.
If it isn’t the pot calling the cattle black.
You nearly had a catastrophic terror attack in Vienna before a Taylor Swift concert averted at the last minute thanks to foreign intelligence services and it was all home grown Austrian (migrants), so the bankrupt here is you.
I think the word you are looking for is “kettle”. Who cares about that mildly talented woman, she never did Eurovision. But I see your concerns, I guess it’s best to stay at home for you.
Potatoe, potato, I stand corrected. But you can’t handle the truth about security costs and who covers them which is why you make things up. Besides, whether Israel is there next year or not, the heavy lifting your security forces will have to do will be just as costly as in Basel if not higher.
What exactly am I making up? The English language?
Your make up
Or maybe it’s best for people like you to stay home and out of this website, so other people can feel safe and away from creatures like you. Maybe when your country gets att3cked it will then be best for you to hide in a shelter basement for the rest of your life, like Yuval did. And when you send a survivor for your country like Yuval, we’ll tell you to stay home so that bullies and t@rr3o3r regims can participate in Eurovision and roam freely.
You are not gonna tell me anything in my own country. But good how people like you are revealing yourselves for the whole world to see. Always trying to take what doesn’t belong to you.
I’m absolutely gonna tell you anything about your hypocricy and your own country, just as you allow yourself to spread lies about vote “buying” and make-believe that you are the arbitrator of Israel’s and Jews faith against a regime which you try to washy-wash for the whole world to see your true ugly face. So again, when your country will be invaded and attacked by H-S you sit quietly and let them roam free on yiu and your family. I also once saw, how you commented that you don’t care anymore that Israelies and Pa3lest3inians just k1ill each other –… Read more »
Nice try, the sob story worked on me last year, it’s not gonna work again, especially when you send such a terrible song.
Nice try by you, keep begging. Act “offended” and sob that people won’t talk about your country while you act as a world-leader on Israel’s expense, entitled prick. Also amazing that you admit last year you cared about the attacks by H-S on Israelies and Pa3le3stini3ans, and then you don’t care anymore that “they ki1ll each other” and now you all pf the sudden you “don’t know” they H-S keep attacking. Washy-washong them. In the meantime keep sitting quietly when you get t3ro3r attacks in Austria as you already did several times, and I’ll decide it’s okay to destroy you… Read more »
It says we don’t have Austrians all over that world that aggressively animate into voting for their own country, nor do we care to win a song contest because of nationalism. Glad I could help. 😉
They can f*** off and stay home for all most of us care.
Said the evil Gargamel gnashing his teeth in frustration
Not frustrated. Rather appalled by your propaganda.
Or you manage and deport the “bad guys”… Take example in the US
You can also f*** off for all most of us care, especially when you trash every single artist from any country you ever witnessed with your satanic disgusting mind. So f*** you too and b3urn in h***.
Right. Try harder next time.
You try harder next time, since you like this profanity language which apparantely gives you org@s3ms, f*** pathetic b*it*ch – Here you got 1 more. Now go vomit hate and trash on all the 2026 artists, songs and countries, miserable soul.
See how easy it is for you to make up s***. I’ve lost interest.
I’m sure you will be dealt with, dear.
Sure, cause you gonna cry like a baby to moderators here in the hope they will disciminate by allowing your profanity comments to stay and block others. I actually like to engage in respectful discussions for full honest analysis of all sides including critisizm about Israel’s actions where needed, but in any case you trash every artist and country on this blog – regardless of Israel, so I’m just speaking and using your own language on you. Will be interesting if Wiwibloggs block others while keeping your profanities, will show their faces as well, if they are neutral or not;… Read more »
I have never contacted any mods. Try harder. Or don”t. I’m outta here. Girl, byee.
BOO HOO HONEY MOO
Directed at that Vjera character
It’s because of silly fighting like this that all of our comments went straight into the mod system. Thankfully that ended. Do’t make Wiwi bring it back!
Okay, this is just in. De VRT, the Flamisch television broadcaster of Belgium, has asked in a statement to the EBU to have an open debate about the current way of voting. They do not find it opportune anymore that people can vote up to 20 times by smartphone or other means of communication. The VRT also has questions about further participation in the eurovision song contest. The Walloon télévision broadcaster will consider the matter in the coming weeks. Please don’t vote me down for this , it’s an announcement of the Flemisch broadcaster
I forgot this…The VRT believes that there should be an open about possible further participation of Israel …
Good. If we’re going to put everything on the table, let’s also discuss VRT’s notorious virtue signaling as well as KAN’s obligations and ethics should they infringe upon any EBU criteria. There has to be more than just a simple majority to exclude KAN from the 2026 contest because this is not a decision made just like that. I should add that if Israel soon passes a law that dissolves KAN as a public broadcaster, that would make things a lot easier for everyone.
I totally agree about the voting process. Belgium have had 2 great songs not qualify for the grand final. When some that have gone through have to be honest … terrible!.
The 20 bites and world participation is absolutely ridiculous .
When you see the breakdown of votes it shows how wrong the process .
Israel had a great song, but to receive 13 douze pointe in the semis is a bid off.
And also how the grand final lineup is chosen is wrong,
Every country in the final should be pulled out of a hat.
.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez also stated today that he wants Israel to be banned from the contest.
A prime ministet running a country of almost 50 million inhabitants and that’s what’s high on his agenda. No crime, no inflation, no socio-economic disparities, illegal immigration, police brutality, poverty and so on and so forth. The left in Spain cracks mainly in the brain.
He didn’t say anything when Chanel didn’t win in 2022 due to the Ukranian political televoting.
That last point, I’d love to see them try it. Have every HoD come to the table (in an order that is determined by a machine), to pull a ball out of a cloth bag, and whichever country comes up first will be the one performing first. Use the same procedure to determine the singing order in the semis. That 20-vote allowance should be reduced to ONE! Period. Ranked choice voting; pick your #1 (mine was France), your #2, and so on, down to your #10. On your first point, I had both Red Sebastian and Mustii (excellent art-pop, by… Read more »
So many people though France was the best… but then there is the professional juries Woke.
The fact that Belgium didn’t qualify… last year it was the exchange between the west balkan. This year it was the exchange between the Nordics. Nothing to do with Israel.
So how do we feel about the draw now ? All the upset and talk of bias from the late placing of Sweden etc. Top 3 songs were all early and the winner 9th. Did the opening of the vote from the start, help the earlier songs more ?
It helped one country in conducting massive voting action and sim cards buying
Definetely.
Voting should not begin until the last one is performed, as it used to be. Stupidest thing ever.
Aye. They need to go back to o the way it ALWAYS was. Last one sings, then the voting begins; and they need to have a fixed/uniform clock on the voting; 15 or 20 minutes for the semis and 45 minutes for the final.
I think it definitely helped Estonia
The producers of Sweden changed that last year after they were drawn 1st as host country and also arranged for the big 5 and host country to perform in semifinals among semifinalists. Sweden changed rules to benefit themselves last year but that worked against them this year and their overhyped mediocre song
I half expected the voting to “randomly” open after song 23…..they should still be asked to justify the starting position after poor result in semifinal.
its about time that a lousy song from sweden wouldn’t win automatially within the juries.
”Wasted Love” gets to summarize how I feel about the finale. I really love this contest, but all the love feel wasted after watching how people who clearly don’t love it as much mess up the results. And I don’t just mean televoters but the juries too. Very disappointed with the results… happy for my own country to be 3rd in televotes and for Albania for being fifth and happy for Italy to get an overall top 5 placement with a wonderful performance. But apart for that… I will try not to think of the result of the competition but… Read more »
Perhaps we should just have a public jury of say 12 and also the jury vote
That’s a good idea. But we all know the EBU will not sanction this due to revenue.
Very true , to help with the financial loss get everyone to pay more and not just the top 5 and host
Then you would see them run for the hills .
It’s a joke hiw the Uk got no television votes and some terrible acts did!
I couldn’t agree more , they know when to go to the uk for help . Double standards I think and Iam Maltese
A jury of professionals, a jury of nobodies, and the televoters? Interesting idea.
Wiwibloggs will not post anything on the investigation of public vote by spanish brodcaster?
What happened there?
The extra- left and anti Israel spanish goverment and spanish televisión controlled by the goverment attacking Israel. In the second semifinal the televisión made a statement before Israel song talking about war criminals and died in Palestina.Ebu said: if you do that again Spain Will not sing in final Spain did Not do that again but just before starting the final there was another words again Israel that allí the spanish viewrs could see on our screens. What happened? They weren’t attacking Israel they were pointing out the hideous fact that 53000 people, largely civilians and a third children have been killed when the contest promotes peace plus similarity with Russia’s brutal war that got them expelled
They also support the hostages families point of view , unlike the Israeli government
They eventually will after they recuperate from this extensive week of non stop coverage, but if you think RTVE showed it had balls by taking a moral stand and disobeying the EBU, I see it as virtue signaling of the least effective type and the fact is that it backfired big time.
In the meantime…

Well, no one expects the Spanish Inquisition…
They just did.
Its kind of weird when the landslide televote winner Israel is almost 100% invisible on every spotify chart. Did all the people voting for it suddenly change their minds? Or are they already tired of their favourite? I don’t understand ….
and I should add, its even more weird when the rest of the contestans are very visible on the same spotify lists
It has over 4.5 million streams on Spotify so while it’s far from the top song this year, it’s no like no one listens to it either. But of course the most points for Israel are sympathy votes and barely anyone denies it. People are simply taking moral stance and sending message against the bullying.
you should at least drop the “moral stance” and sympathy votes argument. People are not voting in Israel for sympathy… People are not voting in this country at all. Take the example of Portugal. For the second year in a row, we gave 12 points to Israel, but 1) there is virtually no diaspora from that country 2) Portugal does not support Israel’s actions 3) the tiny minority that supports them (extreme fanatics) do not watch eurovision. How do you explain that?
Voting for Israel and not supporting their actions are two completely separate things which you fail to distinguish between. Labelling Israels’ supporters as fanatics says more about you than them. You’re the fanatic for speaking in absolute terms. Supporting Israel doesn’t mean you agree with its policies or support its war crimes.
“Supporting Israel doesn’t mean you agree with its policies or support its war crimes.” but it kind of is? how is me supporting Russia now is not supporting Russia’s invasion? Regarding liking the song… The song is just not good. Believe me, Portugal does not go for that type of music. We’ve been sending Napa, Maro, Black Mamba and Salvador.
And yes, who ever supports Israel’s actions (what I meant in my comment) is an extremist. No moderate person agrees with that behaviour.
You support a country when it’s the only country in the world whose very existence and recognition since 1948 is being challenged and contested. You support the validity of the Israeli state while advocating for a future Palestinian state living side by side, but it will take a very creative diplomacy and out of the box solutions to make this happen because it is impossible where things stand right now. You don’t get to decide if a song is not good. It’s subjective, but clearly her personal ordeal elevated the song and she totally nailed it on Saturday. She wasn’t… Read more »
Oh really ? Tell that to Ukrainians
???
That no other countrys existence has been threatened as you stated.
Iceland, that placed second to last, has more daily and all time streams in Spotify than Israel.
Several extreme right politicians in the Netherlands asked their followers to vote for Israel, Geert Wilders being one of them. When I read some of the replies I get the feeling a lot of people who aren’t in the least bit interested in Eurovision or any of the songs, did vote en masse.
It’s very unfortunate that far right parties all over Europe have become Israel’s biggest supporters and that the Netanyahu governmrnt embraces them. But you can’t do anything if they vote in favor of Israel and turn this into a poltical statement. We don’t know what percentage of the votes they count for and there’s no way you can get inside people’s heads whether Yuval Raphael’s background elevated the song as she truly nailed it on Saturday and I’m referring to people who have no emotional or poltical attachment to Israel or the war in Gaza.
Such a shame, but what can be done about it? It probably amounts to a low percentage of the total Dutch televote, but then again there are causes other the Israeli one that are driving people to vote for a particular country and thete’s no way to read a person’s mind.
Advances in Technology is one of Isr greatest strengths.
Albania deserved to win but the EBU’s politics were nowhere in congruency with public’s music choice. That’s alright, though. ZJERM has already reached a Cult Status beyond Europe and that achievement alone is worth 10 Eurovision victories of JJ’s sort. Congratulations Albania!
Is this the longest Wiwiblogs have waited to post anything after a final? It’s like total radio silence here and on Youtube (don’t have social medias). And only a six minute long video about the winning song on the night right after, when usually they do a 30 min+ and then more vids day(s) after.
Fasssst asleep in a dark, colorless, soundproof room… And Deservedly so… Thanks again WiWiB.
On the inhale… Wiiiii
On the exhale… Blooooogggssss
Repeat
But we have almost 2,000 posts here. It’s a record I believe.
I loved Austria’s performance and voted for JJ many times. That being said it’s the third time that a jury winner won – we need to return the juries to the semis.
if it wasn’t for the juries Israel would’ve won (I’m not aiming for no juries, let me clarify). The televote that saw Israel win this year was completely out of touch with the numbers pre-eurovision from streaming platforms and the EBU did not address this at all.
Yeah – but just because I’m grateful that we have the winner we have, doesn’t mean current voting system is ok. Juries need to go back to sf. Plus huge government lead campaigns need to stop – those televote results really need to be investigated though.
Hardly anyone will ever know the kid who won Eurovision 2025 but everyone will remember and sing along to Albania’s ZJERM! Congratulations to Austria anyway (sorry — I still don’t know the kid’s name).
His name is Johannes 🙂
… in other news!
Sandra was a brilliant host, better than Petra last year I thought. I also warmed to Hazel when she relaxed into it. I cannot bring myself to speak about the other one.
Only in the first Semi.
I liked both Hazel and Sandra…the third one was exactly that – third wheel. Not needed.
I feel like this edition never even took place. I was in the arena last night and forgot everything about it today except for Albania’s song which miraculously recurred during the afternoon. My memory is doing great about all but this particularly unremarkable edition. Time to bring Russia back or to invite a new country in this terminally damaged mess!
Russia out of Eurovision is the only right thing to do. And you should be ashamed of yourself.
JJ’s win was deserved, but let’s be honest, it felt more like a collective sigh of relief than a true celebration. Had Israel won, in the midst of its assaults, it would’ve marked a moral crisis for Eurovision.
The fear now is that if coordinated Zionist voting or spam Israeli televoting continues, Eurovision could be hijacked, and a contest already straining under its contradictions may not survive it. If the EBU wants to restore any credibility, they need to ban Israel and find new sponsors for the contest within the next few months.
It was a relief but also a compromise. Israel and Estonia were the other choices. And Just like predicted before: next year we will get Nemo’s and 10 joke acts.
It’s called variation. We need all kinds of music and songs in ESC. Otherwise it’d become boring. And besides funny songs can be quality too. Compare them to classic comedy movies or theatre plays. Shakespeare also wrote comedy. Quality comes in many forms as well as non-quality. It’s strange for me that some people think that comedic or funny songs are somehow less quality than other songs. Maybe those people are just too serious and/or joyless.
There’s no credible evidence that Israel tampered with votes or bought them. The EBU has not raised any concerns about vote integrity in 2025 (nor in 2024 where similar baseless accusations were made), and the vote tally was within expected variation given geopolitical sympathies, high emotional engagement, and mobilized supporters.
It was a well deserved win for sure, but a very small part of me wanted to see how EBU would handle the chaos a possible Israeli win would bring. When you allow them to participate you have to be able to deal with the consequences.
Actually, I’m pretty sure that Israel winning would put an end to this mess. We wouldn’t have the same drama we had the last two years because the troublemakers would (finally) boycott it. Sure, maybe Spain and Ireland withdrew, but otherwise the party would go on.
Cape fear. The Zionists just keep crawling out of holes like rodents…
Just to clarify, this is called ‘Sarcasm’ directed at Greco-Hellinistic Thallos.
I agree 100%, when your votes are being overshadowed by people with a political agenda, the contest isn’t apolitical anymore. I’ve been saying this for a long time, but if the EBU is complicit, the obvious answer is to ignore the show. Moroccanoil would probably bail them out, but the integrity of the people who most look up to the contest is going to stay clean. It is sickening that fans settle for this, it is almost as if they have no conscience, and tbh I don’t want to be associated with people like them.
This was the most forgettable edition ever, even worse than Belgrade 2008 which got immediately erased from Eurovision history and from public’s memory. The only memorable things about Basel 2025 are Albania’s entry, the drummers after the flag parade, and Celine Dion’s video message. The rest simply happened and never happened. Next!!!
One job to 2026:
Israel out or countries should at once just withdraw…
Ebu needs to make a choice! Now!!…enough is enough
There is another option…. You simply go to retirement! Go and play some Golf 🙂
I need the EBU to release a statement about how they can still pretend KAN is independent media after the government funded campaign.
Amen!!
What a pity for Melody. She did a good job.She did Not deserve that position.
She was odd. Why did she have to do this thing with hair insted of thanking Europe at the end?
That was indeed odd and looked “cheap”. Most people in my living room were like “Oh, why?”. Of course, that’s not what contributed to the low ranking. The song was good but generic. Also, personally, I didn’t like the overdramatic performance. She looked angry and aggressive to me during her performance (but that’s just me). We expect more from Spain. Fandom truly wants Spain to shine, like they did with Chanel.
What you call agressive and overdramatic i call passion and carácter and personality
Fair enough.
She did the 2 things
Albania will never agree to become EBU’s suckfish like Sweden does but ZJERM and SUUS will always be the people’s choice and the true winners! Better robbed and still great than weak and falsely hyped. Stay proud, Albania!
Demeaning other country is not a way to rise up your own. On The contrary, it leaves a bad after taste for others. I thought they were happy because Albania succeeded and came 8th. Very good result in a year with many great songs. Not my only favorite but I liked it.
Was Celine in Basel or not! I need to know. It’d be heartbreaking to think she was there ready to go, stopped only by a spasm episode.
Fun fact #6484.
Celine Dion, a Eurovision winner, named her son Eddy after another Eurovision winner, Eddy Marnay. France 1969 lyricist.
her grandson will be named lumo
Why I always thought her twins were called after actor abd baritone Nelson Eddy…go figure.
She invaded the stage during Estonia’s performance and was ejected from the venue
Reading a sample of the comments here, I’m not really surprised that those considering themselves to be fair minded progressive thinkers are in fact the worst conspiracy theorists and bigots out there. You believe there is this sinister Israeli plot to somehow control the minds, the phone lines, the Sim cards with pockets of money from an imaginary government budgetary surplus. Why don’t you talk about how the Eirovision Song Contest multi Billion Dollar legal gambling industry in Western Europe, particularly in the UK and Ireland is what corrupting and ruining this spectacle as the years go by? But no,… Read more »
I’ve frequently lambasted gambling here, honest! I even recommended books on the subject. I’m glad Wiwi have cut down on odds articles and there was no sign of that guy from some odds agency that used to write.
Well I’d seriously discuss anything that I knew something about, like song structure or harmony. As for the betting industry, I know absolutely nothing about it. I’m aware that there are odds for each ESC and that they don’t seem to influence the outcome. That’s about it.
Don’t you realize that the bookies’ top 5 favorites usually get more media coverage and that this shapes perceptions early on?Surely we can all make up our minds for ourselves but unfortunately herd mentality is prevalent. In the past 5 years in a row, the bookies got the winner right.
Gambling when there are 1000s of innocent people dying every week and Israel’s government unlike any other in Eurovision placed ads to vote everywhere eh Times Square . It’s not conspiracy theory or tropes.
You’re conflating issues and belittling the gross accusations that amount to conspiracy theories and tropes which you obviously can’t discern. Ads on Times Square are not proof of any wrong doing if that’s the brst you can come up with.
Who still buys the CD and DVD? Did you ever? I guess they’re still profitable, otherwise they wouldn’t be making them. Even Hazel made fun of them, by saying she will go buy an old car so she can listen to the CD.
Anyone who DOES get them… why? No judging from me, I’m just curious.
I have never bought the esc cd or dvd but I still enjoy a format when purchasing media. However, I do note that not all songs stay on streaming services forever and some streaming services will occasionally edit films, so maybe one day, cd’s and dvd’s will come back into fashion.
I got last year’s CD but haven’t listened to it. Just about to go pick up “new” Aviici CD.
One thing is for sure next year the juries will put israel outside of top 20 … just in case
Quite a possibility.
Will they send a male participant next year? How will that fare?
I suspect Israel will continue sending female acts, and it won’t be a coincidence, it’s strategy. A young woman on stage singing about hardship or peace is far easier for Europe to digest than the image of a state accused of war crimes. It softens the narrative. If they feel pressure to diversify their image further, I wouldn’t be surprised to see an Arab-Israeli artist next, a token gesture of coexistence. Eurovision is now a PR battlefield, and Israel are masters at playing it.
That is probably the case in 2024 and 2025, but certainly not in the 3 preceeding years. They sent Michael Ben David in 2022 and he was quite a disaster. By the way, when they sent Noa Kirel in 2023 they had just as much ambition and resources to win as they have now and the fact is thst Kirel received 177 points from the jury and 178 from the televote which is pretty rare . At the time I recall how fans were at disbelief how jurors could possibly rate this song so high…but now when there is a… Read more »
There is a huge competition that is chosing the representative for Israel. It’s not a one night semi-final. It takes several months. In the past there have been male singers chosen. It’s the public and the juries of the show that determine who will represent the country and it’s not decided so easly. In the past male singers were sent by the same show and selection process: Nadav Gedge, Hovi Star and Ivri. Michael Ben David didn’t qualify because he wasn’t professional, nothing with him being a male, he was chosen when the other channel managed to have the show… Read more »
Italian jury put the Eurovision winner last in their ranking…
Rest of the World put Italy last…
Italy invented opera, they are not easily impressed.
Lol! Yeah…. it must be the main reason…
But they gave 10 pts to Estonia for artistic reasons certainly…
RoW is the best representation of the fandom vote + diaspora
Well looking at their ranking not really…
Not really the fandom but diaspora yes totally.
Italy decided to mock Eurovision this year. They didn’t take it seriously hence mouse and “12 cheesy points”. They were not impressed. I think Eurovision project is lost. Martin and one country killed it. Also the over the top acts and low quality plus Dutch disqualifications… I am sure many countries will be considering withdrawing and despite my passion to the contest, I do want countries to withdraw as the contest was hijacked
Italy have been voting tactically for many years,
when they have a chance to win.
Nothing new.
Can we push this to 2,000 comments?
If we all come together to make it happen…
69 to go!
I think we should aim for 2025. Seems appropriate.
We’re at 1942 comments. Two more and we have the title of a Eurovision winner.
The comments are coming.
They come to your house.
They reach you all and say:
We’re not pertinent, not pertinent.
Where is your grammar?
Humanity spell.
You think you can write,
But everyone typos.
Don’t filter my words; our words.
Aman, aman
I had a good laugh. Cheers! Appreciated this.
i’m already team innsbruck 2026
It could be a handful of cities that hosted both the Olympics game and Eurovision.
Still wouldn’t be as good as Lausanne, which is the home city of the Olympics!
That’s Athens
Arguably, but Lausanne is where the IOC is based and where the Olympic Museum is!
But Greece is where people participated in Olympic games a few millennia ago. The principal contribution of Switzerland to humankind is cloak-and-dagger banking. (And, as Harry Lime would say, a cuckoo clock!)
I gave you an upvote just for referring to the third man (1949).
Athens
Paris
London
Stockholm
Amsterdam
Helsinki
Rome
Munich
Moscow
Oslo
Torino
That’s more than I thought!
London have hosted the Olympics x 3 and the Eurovision Song Contest x 3
You did the work for me.
🙂
Celine Dion performed at two Eurovision finals, 1988 and 1989, and two Olympics Opening Ceremonies, 1996 and 2024. The facts never stop!
Eurovision has lost its magic this year. And it will be hard to find this magic again…
Usually the day after the contest I love to see everything, the reactions, the charts, the streams but this year I have not even the desire to rewatch the show, to rewatch the performances, and to listen to the songs…it says a lot…
They said so last year as well. And here we are. Fans always ventilate after the final and get emotional. Which is ok. But it will pass. Life goes on
No first time I feel that personally, even when I’m disappointed by the results, I still have the desire to listen to the songs and rewatch the performances, this year I want to forget everything as soon as possible.
Change your mindset. Don’t let it be ruined for you. There’s still plenty to enjoy.
I feel exactly the same way 🙁
For me, it was one of the very best contests ever. I enjoyed every minute of it, the hosts, the production, the songs, results coming in. I am good to go! 🙂
Congratulations to Austria. Now let it be Salzburg 2026 please!! 🙂
Salzburg already declined.
Aw, Julie Andrews could have been an interval act.
Oh, wait. Sound of Music was Innsbruck. My dream lives!

For a sec I thought it read wiener. Ooops! ThAT I would like to see.
Miriana Conte had better start packing her bouncy balls
At the end of the day, we’ve got a brilliant winner – possibly my favorite in the past decade. I’ve also got a soft spot for Austria’s vibe, style, and taste. I think we’re in for an amazing show next year. And just to touch on all the noise around Israel – guys, some of the loudest and most outraged are the ones feeding into the exact dynamics that Israeli communities respond to. On top of that, since this is a music contest, and their entry had more substance and a better performance than many others, it’s completely natural for… Read more »
What is the minimum number of countries that is important for the continuity of this contest?
Because certain countries might withdraw like Czechia etc. due to poor results
Probably 7, with each entering two songs. Ah, back to the beginning.
So Austria hosted both the 60th and 70th contests
Did JJ ever get to pee?
He is probably used to crossing his legs for all that falsetto
wasted love is the 3rd esc winner that i have in my workout playlist, and it’s the extended version
The other two being Euphoria and Tattoo?
tattoo and zitti e buoni
One more thing about Israel. Their marketing and promotion policy have made the contest bigger and more recognisable among casual viewers. So, should people be grateful for that to Israel? The viewership has now reached its peak despite less countries participate. As an Armenian, I’m against Israel’s policy. But I don’t see the same backlash against Azerbaijan who basically bought an entry in 2011, apart a few famous bloggers.
As an Armenian whose song this year was mostly written by Swedish songwriters; technically you also bought an entry from Sweden.
Before Russia’s exit; Armenia was always voting its top points to Russia; no matter their songs are good or bad.
True. If you watch WiWi reaction to Parg’s song, they read out my comment where I criticised that we resembled Azerbaijan by buying Swedish songs. I haven’t supported Parg at all for that reason. I wish we could contend with whatever is homegrown even if we always come last. This approach will improve our music industry and us as a nation. But the Armenian TV channel and Parg thought otherwise and alas received perhaps the least amount of public vote (from a few countries only) since our participation which I’m sure will be analysed. Many Armenians didn’t feel invested in… Read more »
Not true. Armenians used to vote for ex Soviet countries, Greece and Balkans (depending which had a stronger song). Since the geography of votes received by Armenia widened, Armenians responded. Now they vote for France, Greece, Malta, Albania, Italy, Sweden, Austria etc. The voting in Armenia is pretty much open. Anyone can and actually grabs a good set of points from Armenia if their song is good.
I’ve been backlashing against Azerbaijan for the past 15 years!
People, again, google “Azerbaijani Laundromat” if you want to understand how shady operations like this work.
Thanks. You’re on the right side of history. Many didn’t sadly.
How much do we think Italy was lifted up by the subtitles? I love Lucio’s song but I never thought it would do well in the televote, and yet it placed top 10. My theory is that subtitles helped them, and France would have benefitted from that as well.
subtitles were there to distract people rom Lucio’s clown face
The subtitles do help a little bit. Though I spend most of my time watching the performance than reading. Facial expressions, staging and a general connection that the artist is a real singer/songwriter that is passionate about their art can speak a thousand words and help to elevate a performance.
I think any european country that competes in their own language always benefit when there is a word or a phrase that is universally recognised. ie “Voila” (2021) Maman (2025)
Helped me… The lyrics were beautiful.
The juries have the lyrics because they rate them (one of the factors that determines their ranking and points). Viewers were certainly influenced by the lyrics. I didn’t like the song. But his performance was sweet and vulnerable, and paired with the subtitles made it accessible and comprehensible to millions. And the lyrics were strong. I was influenced.
I don’t know if subs are within EBU’s rules (probably yes). I expect we will see more countries having subs next year.
I think Italy’s song appealed to a certain age bracket who liked the calmness of the song and resonated with the act and what they stood for. Not sure the subtitles made a difference?
Estonia and Finland have subtitles in all songs.
Was that horrendeous Memo performance just a random nightmare or did it really happen? After last night I’m not really sure of anything.
And for some reason my cable/web provider doesn’t let me rewatch or tape any of this year’s shows. Strange.
It happened. I kinda liked it. Kinda.
It was like a psychotic break and if his intention was to make people uncomfortable well f******* congratulations.
It happened. And I am really worried for his well-being. Besides, why did he wear his mother’s lingerie?
He didn’t want to be outshone by Finland and Malta
Remove Moroccan Oil as your main sponsor and see how israel behaves next year.
“It’s a song contest”. I heard every time I brought the Nagorno Karabakh issue in in the past. Somehow with Israel’s good song people do not admit Eurovision is a song contest. I’m against their policy, but song-wise it was good, was staged well and performed nicely, having a personal story attached to it. Why don’t people assume it had merits to do well and it did indeed?
The song was below average. I don’t even remember it andi listened to it once.
Let’s be honest, it was memorable. Tastes differ and by no means it was average. Should that been performed by abeyance, it would have now broken the internet by storm.
Excellent comment Gaga!
I actually had her 12th on my scorecard. 7th-10th; maybe. But 2nd? Not like this. I thought a bunch of others (including JJ) were far better. What would the scoring have looked like, if the 2009-2015 system were used? I wouldn’t be surprised if JJ barely got more than 221 (Ell and Nikki in 2011). And this happened because unlike in 2023 (Loreen and Käärija) and last year (Baby Lasagna and Nemo), when there was a bookies’ consensus favorite and an upstart that the crowd also loved, people could not come to a consensus on two, maybe 3 or 4.… Read more »
That doesn’t hold though: the song was decent, I agree, but we all know from any other country and without the political context/propaganda campaigns it would have placed somewhere between 10th-20th at the very best. This is not a song that catches the televote, actually it’s doing very poorly on all televote proxies (ie. charts, streams, MyESCScoreboard, etc). Also it’s not a personal story: it wasn’t written by her but by the same regime propagandist as last year. She could have decided to tell her own story indeed, instead she decided to recite the words of another and be a… Read more »
The song was bad x factor winner reject from the 00’s sung by a good singer.
Nagorno Karabakh is and has been always part of Azerbaijan; by the way; even all Western countries admitted this reality.
It never was. With the help of Russia, Turkey, Israel and Pakistan it got occupied by Azerbaijan
The history of the region is not one-dimensional, but I suggest you log onto Wikipedia and try to edit the crucial info there.
Armenia was occupying parts of internationally recogniued Azerbaijan. Fact!
Borders are man made constructs, nothing more. It’s all in our imagination. We are all human. The planet itself does not care where Azerbaijan begins and Armenia ends.
Lol…
