  • As of Saturday morning, there’s one video that has been seriously clocking up view counts. Since being uploaded on Monday 9 December, Elvana Gjata’s video for “Me tana” has had over 1.67 million views.

That already makes it the most popular video uploaded to broadcaster RTSH’s YouTube channel. In second place with 1.25 million views is Enida Tarifa’s “Fairytale” music video. In third place is a how-to video for making delicious Albanian baklava, with 1.22 million views.

Elvana has a substantial fanbase who have her on replay. The Albanian diva’s 2018 music video “Mike” has previously clocked up over 74 million views, showing her popularity. #fik #fik58 #festivaliikenges #eurovision #eurovision2020 #eurovisionsongcontest #elvanagjata @elvanagjataaaa

  • Ynet reports that from 2021, the Israeli broadcast KAN will select the nation’s artists by itself. This is because The Next Star has been produced by Keshet (channel 12), which is not a member of the EBU.

This unusual method of selection resulted from the former Israeli Broadcasting Authority (IBA) being unable to fund the pre-selection and to manage its financial resources until it was replaced by KAN. Keshet stepped in with The Next Star, serving as a popular talent show as well as Israel’s Eurovision artist selection. #thenextstar #thenextstarforeurovision #eurovision #israel #esc

  • “I have five dogs, two rabbits and one parrot,” VICTORIA says in a statement sent to wiwibloggs. “All my dogs have been adopted and I love them so much! Animal adoption is a cause really close to my heart and with this project I want to raise awareness in Bulgaria about the amazing people who give their time to help homeless dogs and cats find their new home.” Among the organisations that are benefitting from VICTORIA’s work is Bulgarian NGO Animal Rescue Sofia.

Her team explains their impact: “With the help of thousands of people through private donations they created their own shelter, where 200 animals find treatment and care 365 days in a year. The organization finds homes for 70 dogs every month. One of VICTORIA’s five dogs is adopted from the Animal Rescue shelter.” @victoriageorgievaofficial #eurovision2020 #openup #animals #catrescue #dogrescue #cats #instacat #dog #instadog

  • His goal for Rotterdam is all about emotional honesty and connection. He explained, “The most important thing for me will be to stay true to myself, be an honest person and sing the song from the bottom of my heart.” He added, “I will try my best to stand there on that stage and do my thing and just be honest and touch people’s hearts.” @sandromusic_official #sandromusic #eurovision #eurovision2020 #esc2020 #eurovisionsongcontest #cyprus

  • Dima’s problem stems from how his name was presented on the poster. His is listed as a second-tier artist, with his name displayed a smaller font size than Eurovision winners such as Netta and Katrina and the Waves, as well as non-winners Eleni Foureira and Sergey Lazarev.

Dima Bilan took offence to this. He explained that the show organisers told him that Het Grote Songfestivalfeest would be a Eurovision all-winner concert, like Eurovision’s Greatest Hits, which was organised by the BBC in 2015. Dima wrote: “I have been working with international companies for a long time and I know how it should ideally be done! And this moment with the posters happens to be another reason for my urgent request to discuss the termination of the agreement! It’s totally wrong that the organisers are only now saying that I’m not participating in the concert when asked by those who bought a ticket just to see me! Why is there only now this hype three days before the concert???” #eurovision #esc #hetgrotesongfestivalfeest #dimabilan @bilanofficial
