Which countries and artists are doing Eurovision 2022?

41 countries are officially confirmed to be participating in Eurovision 2022. Broadcasters are expected to select and announce their competing artists and songs in coming months.

🇦🇱 Albania

Broadcaster RTSH has confirmed it will hold its long-running song contest Festivali i Këngës. The competition will also be used to select Albania’s act for Eurovision 2022.

🇦🇲 Armenia

After withdrawing in 2021, AMPTV will return to Eurovision 2022. The broadcaster has not confirmed their selection method. In recent years, they have used internal selection or the national final Depi Evratesil.

🇦🇺 Australia

After internally selecting their act in 2020, SBS is returning to their national final Eurovision – Australia Decides. The grand final is set for 26 February.

🇦🇹 Austria

Broadcaster OR has not confirmed any details of Austria’s selection method for Eurovision 2022. Since 2017, the broadcaster has internally selected their act.

🇦🇿 Azerbaijan

Details of Azerbaijan’s selection method have not been confirmed, but since 2015 the broadcaster has internally selected their entry.

🇧🇪 Belgium: Jérémie Makiese

Wallonian broadcaster RTBF has internally selected The Voice Belgique champ Jérémie Makiese. His song will also be internally selected and will be released at a later date.

🇧🇬 Bulgaria: Intelligent Music Project – “Intention”

Broadcaster BNT has internally selected the rock supergroup Intelligent Music Project, fronted by rock singer Ronnie Romero and featuring two-time Eurovision star, percussionist Stoyan. They will perform the song “Intention”, to be released at a later date.

🇭🇷 Croatia

Broadcaster HRT have confirmed that Croatia will participate in Eurovision 2022. The broadcaster will again use their national final Dora.

🇨🇾 Cyprus

Broadcaster CyBC has not yet revealed any information of its selection plans for Eurovision 2022. However, it is widely reported that they will again internally select their act.

🇨🇿 Czech Republic

Czech broadcaster CT will again use their online national final ESCZ with the grand final to be held in December. The contest will be decided by a mix of jury vote, Czech public vote and international fan vote.

🇩🇰 Denmark

Broadcaster DR will again use its long-running national final Dansk Melodi Grand Prix to select its act for Eurovision 2022. The grand final will take place on 5 March.

🇪🇪 Estonia

ERR will again use the national final Eesti Laul to select its act for Eurovision 2022. 40 acts will compete in the expanded series, with quarter-finals beginning in November.

🇫🇮 Finland

Broadcaster Yle has confirmed it will again use the national final UMK to select its act for Eurovision 2022. The grand final will take place sometime in February.

🇫🇷 France

Broadcaster France 2 will again use its national final Eurovision France: c’est vous qui décidez to select its act for Eurovision 2022.

🇩🇪 Germany

After two years of internal selection, Germany is returning to a national final. Five artists will be selected to compete in the grand final of Unser Lied für Turin.

🇬🇪 Georgia: Circus Mircus

Broadcaster GPB has internally selected the performance group Circus Mircus. Their song will be released at a later date.

🇬🇷 Greece

Broadcaster ERT is accepting submissions from local record labels with proposed entries for Eurovision 2022.

🇮🇸 Iceland

After internally selecting their Eurovision act in 2021, RÚV is returning to their national final Söngvakeppnin. The show will follow the usual format, with two semi-finals and a grand final.

🇮🇪 Ireland

Broadcaster RTÉ will return to selecting their act through a national final, held as part of the Late Late Show. The broadcaster is accepting entries from experienced act and the national final will air in early 2022.

🇮🇱 Israel

Broadcaster KAN will use a new production of The X Factor Israel to select both its artist and song for Eurovision 2022.

🇮🇹  Italy

The winner of Italy’s iconic Sanremo Music Festival will have first refusal to represent Italy at Eurovision 2022. Otherwise broadcaster Rai will select an act from the other Sanremo participants.

🇱🇻 Latvia

Broadcaster LTV has confirmed that Latvia will compete in Eurovision 2022. The broadcaster will again use their national final Supernova to select their act, with the grand final in February.

🇱🇹 Lithuania

Broadcaster LRT will again use its national final Pabandom iš naujo! to select its act for Eurovision 2022. The show is due to begin in January 2022.

🇲🇹 Malta

Broadcaster TVM is returning to its national final Malta Eurovision Song Contest. It will be held in February 2022.

🇲🇩 Moldova

Broadcaster TRM has not confirmed any details about its selection method for 2022. The broadcaster usually holds a national final to select its act.

🇲🇪 Montenegro

After two years off, Montenegro is returning to Eurovision. Broadcaster RTCG has opened submissions, however the broadcaster has not yet confirmed exact details of its selection method.

🇳🇱 Netherlands

For the first time in its internal selection era, Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS has opened public submissions to find its act for Eurovision 2022. The entry will be chosen by a selection committee.

🇲🇰 North Macedonia

MRT has not confirmed any details of its selection method. The broadcaster usually internally selects its Eurovision act.

🇳🇴 Norway

Broadcaster NRK has confirmed that it will again use national final Melodi Grand Prix to select its entry for Eurovision 2022.

🇵🇱 Poland

TVP will internally select their entry for Eurovision 2022, and the broadcaster is accepting public submissions.

🇵🇹 Portugal

Broadcaster RTP has confirmed they will again use their national final Festival da Canção to select their entry for Eurovision 2022. The contest will take place in February and March 2022.

🇷🇴 Romania

Broadcaster TVR has not revealed how it will select its act for Eurovision 2022. The broadcaster usually holds a national final, however with varying formats.

🇷🇺 Russia

Russia’s broadcaster VGTRK has not yet revealed any details of its Eurovision selection method. Since 2014, VGTRK has internally selected the acts it has been responsible for sending to Eurovision.

🇸🇲 San Marino

San Marino broadcaster SMRTV will use new national final Una voce per San Marino to select its act for Eurovision 2022. The series will begin in early February with the grand final on 19 February.

🇷🇸 Serbia

RTS will return to using a national final to select its act for Eurovision 2022. RTS will use a new national final format. Entries close on 1 December.

🇸🇮 Slovenia

Broadcaster RTV SLO has confirmed that they will use the national final EMA to select their entry for Eurovision 2022. The broadcaster has released no further details of the national final process.

🇪🇸 Spain

RTVE will select their act using a new song festival held in the tourist hot spot of Benidorm. The festival is expected to begin in December.

🇸🇪 Sweden

SVT has confirmed to reputable fan media that it intends to participate in Eurovision 2022. The broadcaster will again use its iconic national final Melodifestivalen to select its act for Eurovision.

🇨🇭 Switzerland

Switzerland will again use its internal selection jury to choose its act for Eurovision 2022.

🇺🇦 Ukraine

National broadcaster Suspilne has ended its partnership with commercial broadcaster STB, signalling the end of iconic national final Vidbir. Suspilne is reportedly working on a new national final format.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom

The BBC has confirmed that it has partnered with music and management company TaP Music to select the UK’s act for Turin.

Which countries aren’t doing Eurovision 2022?

🇦🇩 Andorra: Despite speculation that Andorra would return to Eurovision in 2022, the state broadcaster has said that returning to Eurovision is “not among our projects.” The broadcaster has also confirmed to reputable fan media that it does not intend to return to Eurovision in 2022.

🇧🇦 Bosnia and Herzegovina: Broadcaster BHRT has confirmed that they are still under sanctions from the EBU due to substantial unpaid debt. This means BHTC is unable to compete at Eurovision.

🇭🇺 Hungary: Despite fan rumours suggesting a comeback, Hungary’s song contest A Dal 2022 will again not be used as a Eurovision national final and Hungary is not on the list of confirmed countries.

🇱🇺 Luxembourg: Broadcaster RTL confirmed to reputable fan media that it has no plans to return to Eurovision in 2022. The broadcaster says its focus is on “news features rather than music and entertainment shows”.

🇲🇨 Monaco: Broadcaster TMC confirmed to reputable fan media that it will not participate at Eurovision 2022.

🇸🇰 Slovakia: Broadcaster RTVS confirmed to Czech fan media that it does not intend to return to Eurovision in 2022.

🇹🇷 Turkey: Turkey has not competed at Eurovision since 2012, however in June the EBU said they were in contact with broadcaster TRT regarding a return. Turkey was not on the list of confirmed acts for Turin.

🇰🇿 Kazakhstan: While Kazakhstan broadcaster Khabar Agency competes at Junior Eurovision via a special invitation, the EBU previously said it had “no plans” to extend the invitation to Eurovision 2021.

Non-members of the EBU

🔴 Belarus: The EBU has currently suspended the membership of broadcaster BTRC, making it ineligible to participate in Eurovision 2022.

🇽🇰 Kosovo: Broadcaster RTK does not currently meet membership criteria for joining the European Broadcasting Union. As a non-member, they are unable to compete at Eurovision. In the past, the EBU has also confirmed they have “no plans” to give Kosovo a special invitation to compete.

🇱🇮 Liechtenstein: The microstate’s broadcaster 1FL TV confirmed that it has no plans to join the EBU and participate at Eurovision. The small broadcaster cited the high costs of participating as the reason for not joining.


Where is Eurovision 2022 being held?

Eurovision 2020 will be held in Turin, Italy. The song contest will be held at the PalaOlimpico arena. It has not yet been confirmed if there will be a Euro Village or Euroclub and where such events would be held.
