Daniel Kajmakoski has done some major tweaking and presented the reworked version of “Lisja esenski”, now known in its English-language version as “Autumn Leaves“. The song is now entirely in English and the melody has also been slowed down considerably.
The video plays out with stick figure drawings coming to life and displays a love story playing out between the “characters”. Autumn Leaves certainly feels much more like a traditional ballad now, particularly building up towards the end. The English lyrics only add to that as well and it certainly feels a whole lot different to the original version!
Daniel shared some of the English lyrics earlier in the day on his Facebook page:
What do y’all think about the new version of the song? Are you loving this change to English, or do you think that the original version “Lisja esenski” was better? Let us know in our poll below:

I don`t know why polls reveals that FYR might not get into the final this year. For me is a beautiful and practised voice+nice lyrics, maybe a little bit slow but passes.Estonia who reveals to be one of favs to win 1st semi-final is not such a great entry for me.In top 10,that song can get 6th-7th place!Good job Macedonia!
Prefer Lisja Esenski more. The song is sung nicely and become my favourite but…. now I feel all the song’s charmpoint is gone.
But still, good luck Macedonia.
I definitely prefer the new instrumentation. If it just had a more impactful ending, it would be excellent. Good luck Daniel Kajmakoski and Macedonia
I liked the original beat more, it had more instrumentation. I don’t like the percussion sounds after the choruses. BUT, this is a successful English translation and could help this qualify in my opinion.
The video in English sounds better than the live Macedonian version. I wonder how he will sound live in English.
Better than the boring original, but I don’t know if it’s altogether that remarkable. They’re choosing some dubsteppy instruments where they should be trying to sound more like One Republic instead.
The melody blends nice with the English, although I wouldn’t mind part of it being in their language. The problem for me is that it never builds. It remains a bit moody and quiet, and that is not always bad, but it doesn’t always work. This one left me wanting something, like something was missing.
I would never ever think that an edition of eurovision would make me cry of sadness… Malta and Macedonia really just broke my heart… Macedonia was my nr 1…. and the song has gone .. just wow.. no words.. it hurts.. can’t believe the changed such a beautiful song into this.. same with malta.. just shoot me
This is so much better then the original version but he lost the umph :/
Loved it!
It was super in Macedonian but it’s also ok in english… a little more sensible and impactful…. cute and creative video…. I’d love to see it in top 10.
Like both, but I slightly prefer the Macedonian version. This is one of the best ballads this year!
Boring, boring, so boring
The English version isn’t as bad as some people on YouTube complain. I miss the happy, “falling-in-love” version of Lisja Esenski though.
Preferred it in Macedonian but either way it won’t qualify
I’m not sure how I feel about this. I think the song flows much nicer in Macedonian but I like the instrumentals and backing vocals better in the English version.
Videos make all songs better.
sounds ok
I like them both, but slightly prefer Lisja esenski
I genuinely thought the song was going to kick into gear and finally get started, but didn’t notice that it had already hid the 3 minute mark. It ends very weakly. A swing and a miss from Macedonia. Not sure how well this will do in the semi-final where every song (even Moldova and Finland, Europe is strange) could potentially be a qualifier.
@Elainovision – nicely put. Never thought of that.
WHY??? just like malta, they ruined the song
thank you macedonia to provide me a song that i can put right in the bottom 5, in a year full of ballads and good songs u made us wait so long for this, c’mon not quallifer
What the…when most songs are translated, they only change language, not genre!
This is like the act one and act two versions of a song from a musical…the upbeat initial one, and its epic reprise when everything has changed in the second act. It’s almost a shame we can’t have both…
If only he can bring back the same beat of the original Macedonian version, I would really love it. Not a fan of the beat change.
With that said, I can really appreciate the song now that’s in English. Like the stick figure narrative. 🙂
Well, from the songs that were first selected, this is the revamp I’m liking the most, that’s for sure!
i like this more, this really should qualify!
It doesn’t really feel the same. It sounded much more fun when it was up tempo, but maybe it’ll grow.
The english version is so much better and more modern as the older one! Really like it! Now is FYR Macedonia in my top on 6th place!
Nopenopenopenope
It’s really lost all of its charm. Bitterly disappointed.
Wow. I didn’t like the original version, but the english version is really great! Will jump higher in my top.
I don’t know. Firstly, there are 12716 ballads this year at ESC, but this one is not ballad per se, it’s more like “Lounge Bar Sessions” thingy. That is new, at least.
Secondly, you can feel the emotions in the second version (the first one was cheap pop). And not “feeling” as in any other of those 12716 ballads.
Nevertheless, Macedonia is always underrated (often, it deserves to be down-rated), but this year it sounds quite OK. Dunno what Europe what think – they usually don’t like Macedonia. 😛
OMG I LOVE THE ENGLISH VERSION!!!!
