She sang for Finland at Eurovision 2013 in Sweden, and she returned to the Scandinavian country again for Melodifestivalen 2016.
And on Monday “Marry Me” singer Krista Siegfrids took her relationship with Sweden to another level when she announced that she has signed with Universal Music Sweden and Stereoscope Music Scandinavia.
The 30-year-old stunner broke the good news on Instagram, uploading a photograph of her at the Universal Music Sweden headquarters, along with the caption: “It’s a big day for me today because I’ve signed a contract with @universalmusicsweden and @stereoscopemusic.”
She added a series of hashtags including “#dreamscometrue” and “sohappyicouldshitrainbows”.
But before rainbows fired from any bodily orifices, Krista seemed to celebrate with a bottle of Moët & Chandon champagne — a well-deserved treat for the very good news!
Among the other Stereoscope artists you may know (and idolize) are Ace Wilder and Margaret Berger.
Born into the Swedish-speaking minority in western Finland, Krista’s mother tongue is Swedish, though she speaks Finnish and English fluently.
She has developed a major career in Finland, where she’s an in-demand singer and TV personality, having hosted both UMK and The Voice Kids.
At Melodifestivalen 2016 Krista lived her dream of competing in that contest, ultimately finishing fifth in her semi-final with the song “Faller”.
Although she didn’t make the final, she did raise her profile in the country, which was part of her bigger ambition to forge a career in Sweden.
“That’s my dream — you know, to get into the Swedish music business and do more gigs here,” she told us in Malmö after her semi-final.
Among her subsequent gigs in Sweden was performing at the inaugural Wiwi Jam inside the Hard Rock Café in Stockholm this May.
In addition to “Faller” she sang a mash-up of “Like a Virgin” and “Marry Me”, which you can watch below.
