Girl power! Spanish sensations Aitana and Ana Guerra — who finished third in this year’s Spanish Selection for Eurovision — have just premiered their new version of “Lo Malo” and its hot new music video. And they slay!
And all we can scream is YAAS! Pa mala yo, Aitana War!
Serving proper Latin fire, major sex appeal and female empowerment, Aitana and Ana Guerra are ready to blow the charts with their already huge dancefloor hit!
Watch: Aitana & Ana Guerra – “Lo Malo”
While national final winners Amaia y Alfred have been busy on the Eurovision 2018 promotion circuit, the OT divas have been busy in the studio revamping their national final entry.
Oozing the sass and energy the song requires, Aitana and Ana both deliver a song that is ready to hit the charts again. The new version features a much more contemporary feeling, maintaining its Spanish flavour and adding voices in the style of today’s major reggaetón hits. The song now approaches this Latin genre and delivers a much more mature sound while breaking its Operación Triunfo influence by seeking to reach a bigger audience and hit worldwide. The new version also features a deeper sound and less high-pitched harmonies. And overall a much more urban feeling!
But most importantly, the new version finally adds the “Ana War”, “Aitana” lines in the outro that previously appeared in the live performance but not in the original studio version. That’s proper Aitana War realness!
Nerviosos???? Porque yo si! ??
Empieza la cuenta atrás…???#AitanaWar #LoMaloVideoclip pic.twitter.com/qCFOEnjxjL— Ana Guerra / War (@AnaG_ot2017) April 6, 2018
The new version also comes with the desired music video — and the long wait has been worth it. It’s Spanish epicness!
Their video shows the concept of true girl power united in being more self-worth against bad boys — chicos malos, no, no, no. It starts with Ana Guerra and Aitana each trapped in a room and wearing elaborate costumes. The settings and wardrobe is symbolic and seems to hide their strength and willingness to make themselves of value.
But as the music video transitions, both artists reunite and start strutting and dancing fiercely in a dark limited space, surrounded by many guys. Mixing their sassiness and their wild moves, both stars now show their empowerment and chemistry. Their outfits change drastically to have major sex appeal and power.
The video also shows how Miss Ana War knocks down a chair and Aitana throws a TV into the air. Proper rock-star slayage!
“Lo Malo” success
Numbers don’t lie and “Lo Malo” is rocking the Spanish charts week by week. On the chart of the major Spanish radio station Los 40, the song is currently placed at No.6 and climbing.
But their new version already hit No.1 on iTunes Spain and as well their music video, which is No.1 on iTunes. Interestingly, even the old version climbed at No.2 on iTunes after the new release!

But there’s more!
“Lo Malo” already received the platinum certification in a surprise event on the late night chat show El Hormiguero — the same one Amaia and Alfred attended in February. As seen by their faces of joy, Ana and Aitana are more than happy to receive such news!

In Spotify, “Lo Malo” keeps being the most streamed OT act so far. Both versions surpass the 16 million streams and the song is currently No.4 at Spain’s Spotify Top 50 playlist. Pablo Hernández DJ even made a remix of their song that places No.3 on Spain’s Top 50 Viral on Spotify!
Future plans for both stars
Despite the fact of “Lo Malo” turning to be one of the biggest success of this year’s OT — if not the biggest — Ana Guerra and Aitana’s music career is just about to start. And both already have some plans in progress!
Ana Guerra has recently collaborated with RTVE’s new series La Fugitiva and will perform the official opening song of the new show. Her first movement is already a huge opportunity, her song will be appearing on prime-time TV all across Spain!
Ana also explained in “El Hormiguero” that her plans involve urban – “Approaching more to the urban, to the Latin [music register].”
Aitana, on the other hand, has some international plans for y’all! And as Los40 states – it’s no longer rumours! Aitana will be flying to Los Angeles to prepare her new Latin hit with at least three producers.
However, for now, she already confirmed that her first single with which she plans to start her solo career is actually “Arde” – the song that finished second in this year’s Spanish selection for Lisbon and close to take the Eurovision ticket. As Aitana explains, “There’s a new version that Pazo Salazar made and it’s incredible. When I listened to it, I got really emotional”. She says that the new version is “Is slightly more epic than the original”.
Aitana also clarifies what direction her futue music will take. “I will be sticking with Pop. My biggest references are Sia and Dua Lipa”
But what do you think about the new version of “Lo Malo”? Are you happy with it? And what about its awaited music video? Tell us in the comment section below!
Original version was less mainstreamed soundwise but still a greatly delivered on stage party-bop.
Ah, Arde-Arde <3
And having this spain has decided to send an old cheesy entry???
They must be love being bottom every year
Some things are not right for eurovision. And spain so far seems to be doing good, i mean theyre early fan favourites. And alot of people have them high on theyre top. I doubt they will get bottom, i think they will get top 3
you have to think about a lot of things in order to succed in eurovision. It is not as simple as “this song is better than that one”. By example, TVE was not going to spend money in the eurovision stage production this year (10 million euros were spent already in just the selection process for eurovisión). So whoever was chosen would have to work just with those tools Lisbon 2018 bring (or better said: not bring…). Im thinking specially on LEDS. If Spain would have chosen “Lo Malo” in eurovisión we would see a couple of inexperienced girls with… Read more »
i dont feel bad about my favourite,s (aitana and ana guerra not going to eurovision. not just in the eurovision gala but whole contest they were my favourites) cuz they said in interviews they were glad they didn’t go cuz they wanted to focus on they’re careers first. and honestly aitana is so young that i think she wouldn’t be able to do it alone in eurovision, even though are was my favourite, i just dont think aitana and ana guerra are ready for something that big that they in the first place didn’t really wanna do
Not even bothered a bit for not sending this. Every song has its place. I firmly believe Despacito would never win Eurovision (with his 5 billion of views) for example.
I always mantained my opinion that “Tu Canción” is not particularly radio friendly, not big mass appealing at a simple listen (actually I kinda got that wrong–>3M views) but it’s been perfectly built for an Eurovision performance. Charming, magical two first minutes, grandiose characteristic ending for a big stage like Eurovision’s one.
Tu Canción >>>>>>>>>> Lo malo (in Eurovision)
Lo malo >>>>>>>>>>>Tu Canción (in a summer party, disco)
I totally agree. The problem is that many eurofans take ESC as a party regarless od the quality od the entries.
Exactly.
But, let’s take a moment to differentiate a restricted sound studio version from a track that gets properly modulated to be spread out in a big scenario with all its full quality…

…A completely different story.
Love these girls! I’m very happy for their success. Especially for Aitana, since “Arde” was my favorite on OT’s Eurovision gala.
These two had the most international and modern appeal out of all the Gala participants. Can’t believe that Amaina beat them both for the title of Gala winner
Its Amaia no Amaina hahahahahahaha
This things hapen.
Love ALWAYS WINS
Love always win? What kind of love? Amaia and Alfred are straight, pls, y’all, stop stealing LGBTQ+ movements to sell us your cheesy, boring entry about love between a man and a woman.
Eurovision pre-party Moscow live https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7Tb9Wr2-m4
Spain could’ve potentially been in the top 10 with this. Instead, they went for the cheesy, discount couple that no one else in Europe cares about (apart from the Spaniards).
With this song or Arde Spain would have better chance to be in TOP 10.
So true 🙂
I THINK YOU GOT WRONG THE PART THAT NONE CARES ABOUT THEM.
PLEASE READ EUROVISION ARTICLES FROM DIFERENT COUTRYES THEY MENTION ALMAIA AND OT.
GET INFORMED BEFORE YOU MAKE A PUBLIC COMENTARY PLEASE.
They also choose Amaina as the overall Gala winner over Aitana yet she had two songs(this and Arde) in the Top 3 but I guess “love wins the end”.
Congratulations Aitana War! You girls deserve every good thing that comes your way!
Now when it comes to Eurovision, Spain was right in not sending this song. This video is great at hiding this, but Ana and Aitana don’t have much street cred or the kind of charisma you need to sell this song at Eurovision. They’re also not particularly good reggaeton dancers. Eleni and Netta would’ve eaten them alive, while Amaia and Alfred, whether you love them or hate them, have their own unique niche at Eurovision where you can’t give downvotes, only votes.
Watch other countries replicate this ‘OT’ format song selection for next years especially if Spain has some kind of success this year. A very useful way to get people into new artists.
Melodifestivalen is there every year but Spain has given quite much to talk about in these previous months and all of that with a non-english language.
A little update: this week’s Los 40 chart has been released less than an hour ago, and Lo malo is the new #1, moving up five places and unseating Anitta & J Balvin’s Downtown, which drops to #2.
Aitana lost twice in Spain first eurovison national final then OT, becuase fake love couple.
Slightly better than Say yay! Lyrics are equally banal only a verse worth of being rescued:
Ahora ya no quiero rosas, soy el león que se comes las mariposas
I don’t want roses anymore, now I’m the lion that eats butterflies (in a feminist context)
The rest is “pa’ mala tu, pa’ mala yo, no no no no”, and lots of spanish slang that Europe would’ve been listening with some weird grimacing in their faces.
15th to 18th position at best.
Greetings irmãos.
I disagree. For me the lyrics are great, especially “Yo decido el cuándo, el dónde y con quién” (I decide when, where and with whom) and “Esta noche bailo sólo para mí” (Tonight I dance just for myself)
Not that I should bother commenting about this but I will, for the reason that, as of today (2 months after the selection) I’m still reading lots of rude commentaries from spanish Eurofans in eurovision videos claiming that we should’ve send this to Eurovision (just because is a big bop among spanish youth) but the truth is that this is just another potential Despacito, Aserejé or Ritmo de la noche spanish summer hit (in a lesser grade at this moment in time) This would’ve been another bad Eurovision result for us. Especially with a no LED scenario as this year’s… Read more »
Being a potential despacito isn’t a bad thing seeing it’s the most watched video on youtube ever.
In the sense of becoming a summer hit.
Not trying to compare this to Despacito, La Macarena or Aserejé. These three are in a different whole league.
Ahhhhh we love talent
Yes we do, queen.
ughhhh…the first voice (let me guess: Ana) has been autotuned to death
the other girl is a poor womans Amaia, sweet voice too but Amaia is just 100x more charismatic
this would been eaten alive in a split second by her older sister Netta (no pun intended)
when I see Netta, I believe what she sings (not that’s even my favorite song of this year but still credit where it’s due) theses two young ladies seem to be more associated to another kind of music
Spain chose it right
1.5 million views in one day, and charting in half of the Latin American countries… Spain truly LOST by not sending them.
Ikr, this would have gotten top 10 easily, I don’t think this will happen with what they actually sent.
Spain will be lucky not to come last. Lo malo would have done so much better!
I swear it’s a waste. But Spain should definitely keep using operacion triunfo for eurovision with all the succes it’s producing.
Yes xD or a lo malo featuring justin bieber version
This was really miss for Spain. Lo Malo is bop<3
Can someone be kind and explain to me where the term “Aitana War” or “Ana War” comes from? like why do they call themselves that?
Guerra (Ana’s last name) means ‘war’.
Back in October when the contest began, a man started referring to Ana Guerra as Ana War on the livestream chat on youtube, since her last name means war in Spanish and soon more people started calling her that as well on social media, even the offical OT2017 twitter account and Noemí Galera (The Academy’s Headmaster). As for the name Aitana War, it happened right after they finished the first rehearsal of “Lo Malo” in front of the the academy’s staff. The lyrics were “Pa mala yo (5x), pa mala tú (2x)” but Aitana ad-libbed “Pa mala tú Ana War”… Read more »
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
SUPERMEGAHITTTTT
Robyn, wtf
Haha I will listen to both playlists 🙂
Such a BANGER!
lol not sure that eurovision news with ‘attitude’ means screaming ‘yaaas’ and ‘realness’ every article XD
Yas queen burkina faso realness slay
yes eurovision = drag queen
but srs, why william put on such a character stereotype, so degrading lgbt peeps are more than saying yaas and feeling sergey’s arms 😛
The flamboyant gays were the first who fought for gay rights back in the 60s, you should be more thankful for them instead of thinking that they give the community a bad name.
To Quote SKAM: ,,Let me tell you one Thing about the People you don’t want to be associated with, Isak. About those who have put on tights and Mascara, and gone out to fight for the right to be themselves. They’re People who, throughout the years, have Chosen to endure harassment. And hate. Who have been beaten up and killed. And that’s not because they’re so keen on being different, but because they’d rather die than pretend to be someone they’re not.” ,, I think before you fought that battle yourself and before you’ve dared to stand up for yourself,… Read more »
Yeah, I never liked this song at all… Really dislike the majority of spanish Music, but I guess it’s good for them that they’re succesful. I prefer Tu Cancion by a mile.
They are fierce! Love them! but I believe they will have more success now than if they had been selected as the spanish eurovision entry, with all the hate from eurofans and their bad vibes whishing them to finish their friendship or whatever. They will do much better this way
And to think we could have THIS in Eurovision, not that sappy telenovela…
