He’s known for feel-good dance tracks that make the masses move. And now Russia’s Eurovision 2019 star Sergey Lazarev is at it again — this time with the Lightsaber remix of his dramatic ballad “Scream”.
The remix was produced by Arcade — a team of Greek producers including Pavlos Manolis, Diveno, Anastasios Rammos and Gabriel Russel. They’ve previously worked with several Greek singers including Sakis Rouvas, Helena Paparizou, Tamta, Eleni Foureira and Demy.
As part of the duo Playmen, Pavlos has performed twice as a producer/dj at Tomorrowland — the largest dance music festival in Europe. He’s also collaborated with Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, who are among the most popular DJs in the world.
Writing on Instagram, Arcade said: “In music a great melody can be approached from many different angles… This was our challenge…we hope you like how we turned an amazing ballad into a powerful club song!”
The original version of the song has major theatrical flair and doesn’t seem like an obvious club banger. But in so many ways the dance floor is a place of exploration, where people can embrace all manner of emotions. Surely that includes the journey from fear to freedom present in Sergey’s song.
The text plays on the intensity of tears — which can burn and leave us out of breath. Tears may run clear, but Sergey knows they carry with them the regrets, fear and pain we all inevitably experience. As he sings:
Maybe they can’t be heard or seen
But tears aren’t quiet things
They scream
They scream
At one point Sergey sounds as if he’s trying to maintain composure as he waits for someone to avert their eyes.
Though my throat is on fire
My eyes will be liars
And they’ll try to stay drier
Until you turn away
And now he’s doing all of that on the dance floor. Are you feeling this latest version of the song? Does it give you a new perspective on “Scream”? Let us know down below!
It’s a different song with some parts of his voice…it’s not exactly a remix of scream. I don’t like neither.
The lyrics creeps me out … i just cant listen it
Scream remixed by Arcade, isn’t it ironical ?
Atrocious!
I want it to be a hard rock music.
This just sounds like they stuck a generic dance beat over a ballad……. it’s not really a song that’s suitable for this treatment. It’s pretty difficult to change the genre of a song.
I imagine they only did this to get a little more publicity if it can be played in clubs now, but kind of a pointless remix in reality.
I don’t know what to think about it I personally do not like the Russian song this year but this remix good for a club
My first reaction to the title was “NO you can’t remic all songs” but this is actually a VERY GOOD remix
Just cut out the remaining few bits of vocals and it might be a nice club song.
