Austria Vincent Bueno First Rehearsal Eurovision 2021

Austria’s Vincent Bueno has taken to the Rotterdam Ahoy stage for his first rehearsal of “Amen” at Eurovision 2021.

Austria’s Vincent Bueno “Amen” — Eurovision 2021 first rehearsal

Oliver: Now this is what we call elevation. Team Austria have managed to create a moment of intimacy and still make full use of the stage. The opening piano pedal bass creates suspense, and together with some very pretty lighting effects and Vincent surrounded by fog, there’s a strong cinematic feel. At the chorus, he’s revealed to be stood on the catwalk, surrounded by runway lights which create clean vertical lines and draw focus towards Vincent. His vocals are powerful and he delivers the lyrics with real emotion. Juries will love it. Arguably the tidiest first rehearsal thus far.

Padraig: Before today, I’d written off Austria as a certain non-qualifier. But Vincent Bueno has other ideas. He’s single-handedly delivered one of the most emotional performances so far. And while it’s simplistic, it’s highly impactful. Vincent is alone on stage, in a stunning black suit stoned with black jewels. He’s surrounded by spot-lights, a little like those used by Sweden’s Sanna Nielsen in 2014. The camera moves in ways similar to Conchita, ensuring that Vincent is always the centre of attention. On top of all this, Vincent brings a new edge to the number which was missing on the studio cut. This isn’t a funeral. He has risen.

Hopefully he will deliver more than what PAENA did in 2019 and qualify. There needs to be at least an element of surprise in the staging.

looks nice, but I think this will NQ

I think this can pull an Australia 2017 and do very well with juries and not televoting. It will face fierce competition from other ballads notably Bulgaria and Switzerland but i think it will be ranked high with juries.

Solid performance, nice colors, very good vocals.
In mortal combat zone…with good chances.

A great song and performance…

This is jury top 3 material standing out in-between a cluster of uptempo entries in a semi without many jury-friendly songs. Regardless of what they’ll do with televoting I can’t see Austria missing the final.

From what I saw he sounded great, and he can connect with the audience. Loved his outfit too.

Last year Statistically based the public could vote Alive more than this one. Sadly we cant see his dance & charisma of last year and his awesome backflip skills. Weak chances to quality.

After the rehearsal, Austria’s chances to qualify are going up in the betting odds.

I still don’t see this though . Juries can’t save 10 songs . They’d rather go for Switzerland , Bulgaria , Iceland , Portugal I suppose . A 7th place in jury with a non-eventful song which would usually be bottom 4 in Televote isn’t enough.

I am a fan of simple stagings but if your song lacks impact then a wow moment on stage could be helpful. But he has the first outfit that I really like! What a beutiful glitter jacket.

I think Austria 2021 will be like Austria and Denmark 2017. From 90-100 points from juries and 0-10 with televite. And with that points 10 th place in semi final.

I had so much confidence in this! Glad to see he really will be able to grab that moment. I love the bridge in this song.

6th in the juries, 15th in the televote, overall NQ

I don’t think 15th with televote when Switzerland, Portugal, Denmark, Iceland or Estonia are voting.

Denmark? Iceland? Portugal? Estonia? I bet at least one of those countries were on the same semi as Pænda in 2019, yet she still ended up with 0 points with a much better song

Better song according to you. I think Austria is in a stronger position this year. It’s the only ballad in that 1st half. And the performance and song won’t be difficult to get for the audience. And this Semifinal is weaker than 2019 as well

Do you personally like the song? Just asking, so feel free to even say the placement you got for it (if any)

I like the song but it’s not among my favourites. It’s been like a grower I’d say. I like it’s simple and elegant without trying too hard.
We agree it’s gonna be more jury pleaser tho

This is so good among all the surrounding banger-craziness.

So pleased to read this. I’ve always felt that the two ‘Aus’ countries- Austria and Australia- were the most underrated this year! Go Vincent!!

Goose bumps every time I heard it in rehearsals (and that’s without any visuals)! Have loved it from its first release – unfortunately not able to vote in Austria’s semi!
