Maltese representative Amber was pranked by a local radio station who had a fake Nina Sublatti phone in to unleash some attitude on her “Warrior” rival. But when the real Nina found out what had been happening, she wasn’t happy.

Amber was a guest on the Magic Malta Breakfast Cafe show, where she was made the unsuspecting victim in the Candid Radio prank segment. A woman called in claiming to be Nina Sublatti – and this Nina wasn’t holding back on what she thought of her Maltese “Warrior” rival. Awkward!

Fake Nina questioned whether Amber was actually famous, and claimed that the Maltese “Warrior” song was full of violence and aggression. “There is only one ‘Warrior’, which is the Georgian ‘Warrior’,” the fake Nina boldly proclaimed.

Of course, it wasn’t the real Nina Sublatti, and Amber had a good laugh when the DJ revealed that it had actually been the well known Maltese comedian Manolita Grech on the phone. But over in Georgia, the real Nina hasn’t seen the funny side. She’s been decidedly unimpressed by the Maltese impersonation and has taken to social media to vent her anger.

And after a Facebook commenter explained that it had been a prank on Amber, Nina still wasn’t happy:

Don’t worry, Nina! No one seriously thinks it was really you. The fake Nina was fierce, but her distinct lack of oximation made it pretty obvious she was not the real deal.

Some people are saying punishable by law……. ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!!! They said it was a joke at the end so they stole no ones identity. The truth is nina wants a war between the songs. She seems a bit of an attention seeker. If nina was consulted it wouldn t have been bad but it was not necessary. People today have freedom of speech and can joke on whoever they like. Dear georgians if you have this mentality maybe you can try korea’s way of governance where you have 0 freedom of speech…. and nina you’ve ashamed yourself and your… Read more »

@Shanfa: How about you shut up for ounce, in your life. Really what did I even do to you. Go against your goddamn “Warrior”. If I had to speak out like you every time someone goes against Malta, I’ll probably would go to hell. I condemn whatever Nicky does, he’s a spammer and should be stopped since in all honesty it’s also getting on my nerves. But alas apart from saying Malta’s the best, he’s done nothing wrong and practically he is sort of like one person going up against all the Georgian and Armenian fans who spam their country… Read more »

I am Maltese and Nina tells me to be ashamed of myself. Why should I be ashamed? Just because I am Maltese does not mean I agree with what the radio station did. The radio station is known for these jokes, and I am sure that no one thinks that Nina was the one talking. The radio station made it quite clear. If Nina took this lightly she would have gained some sympathy votes but being rude to the whole country will certainly not be earning her votes.

@Shanfa Chai – You sound like a drama queen.. Take it Down a Notch. This prank actually served as publicity for Nina. 3/4 of Malta didn’t even listen to her song until the whole prank drama began. So relax.. this actually worked well for both singers, believe it or not. It’s called, turning a “bad” situation into MARKETING!

Let’s no be spoilsport and say a big goodluck to both singers. To Nina and Amber – relax and enjoy what you do. Don’t over think what people may think about you.

Normally i would like a joke like that, but not right now…
Like Nina said its a CONTEST right now,
Still voting for Georgia, i like Malta also but i’ve heard that song too much.

1. Warrior Georgia (remastered) 9/10
2. Warrior Malta (remastered) 7/10
3. Warrior Malta 6,5/10
4. Warrior Georgia 6/10

Both countries send in a great entry compared to most of them
Goodluck to both

If prank was so good that Amber which is familiar with the Maltese show-biz was fooled no wonder that a lot of people took it serious. Not sure who benefits from this probably both singers are not in good light after such stories.

Yeah we understand it was prank but I absolutely agree with NINA! That’s stealing somebody’s identity and should be punished by the law. Really, shame on you Malta 🙂 Yeah many understood it was a prank but many people did not. I think it was the way to make people think bad things about Nina. Even for 10 or 20 people This was very very bad and unpleasant step. Nobody likes that. It is not funny. And now , because of this thing I think bad things about Malta and Amber (I used to like but… It’s all your fault.)… Read more »

Wow I’m stunned how some people can’t seem to take things a little less seriously. Don’t you crack jokes in Georgia? Had the station not made it clear this was a prank, I would have said Nina had the right to be angry as this would be character manipulation…BUT THEY DID. It’s a joke, smile, rise above it….people root for people who are grounded. Plus being in the limelight exposes you to these mishaps, it’s part and parcel, you either take it or leave it.

come on people! You shouldn’t say that the Georgian or maltan people are stupid just because Nina was angry or Amber said something or whatever. I’m Georgian and I respect what Amber sings. but of course Nina!go girl! She is free to be angry or loughs about it and just for that because she was angry you can’t judge her way to bad! She is good singer and I hope she will win this contest!??

Honestly, they should both be happy at the mountain being made out of a molehill, because it gives both the songs more attention.

But Nina, RELAX. Probably only 3 or 4 people thought that this was actually you!

There are really two sides to this story. Either you are defending Nina and Georgia or Amber and Malta. First off, though I don’t think what the radio station did was a good idea, saying the whole of Malta is stupid is (a) ignorant of yourselves and (b) did you ever think that some of the Maltese thought what they did was wrong? To shame the WHOLE of Malta is a disgrace. Amber did take it MUCH better, by laughing it off, something Nina could have done much better too…. And for those who say Georgia take the contest “way… Read more »

Guess why they did this Nina? It’s because you came of as an aggressive person when you said that Georgia could do better than Malta in the contest. You started it and the Maltese people are continuing that’s it. Next time think before speaking.

How dare you to blame Georgians in freaking non-humorous? Or how can you tell me that Nina Should not feel offended when you are using her name and the representativety? In Georgia no one speaks and writes about her privat life. No one is judging her or praise her by her lifestyle. We just listen to her misic and thats all. She is and I also could be extremely mad by listening such thing before contest. Believe me there are bunch of people switching off the videos at the second minute and writing without reading headlines that.”she is a bitch”… Read more »

Georgian people are really taking it too serious, it’s just a joke, you don’t need to be starting a war of two songs. and Nina is embarrassing herself right now.

she has no right to be angry, and Amber was pranked but she could laugh about it, i really like Amber , and i hope she does very well on the stage in Vienna.

and how dare you calling Maltese people stupid, well the georgian people are more stupid as they take this serious.

i hope Malta will get their first victory, as i like Amber’s music
