“Warrior” may be still stucked in your mind, but the time has come for Georgia to start a new Eurovision journey. Earlier today, GBP (Georgian Public Broadcast) announced that they will unveil Nina Sublatti’s successor tomorrow. The identity of their Eurovision 2016 representives will be revealed during a special press conference at 9.00 CET.
After last year’s national final, the Caucasus nation are returning to an internal selection. This is despite Nina Sublatti giving them their best result since 2011, finishing just two points off the top ten.
The big question now is who should sing for Georgia. In our Wednesday Wishlist series we recommended BERA:
Bera Ivanishvili, or just BERA, is a Georgian musician born in Paris. The son of Georgia’s richest person according to Forbes, he was classically trained at the age of four and plays piano, drums and violin. Nowadays, he is one of the country’s biggest stars and he parties alongside the likes of Justin Bieber and the Jenner sisters. Next autumn he will release his second album, but for now here’s his song “Calypso Lover”.
Other favourites of ours include Katie Melua, Tamta, Nini Tsnobiladze and The BearFox. Who would you like to see?
Lisa May 🙂
Bera sounds a little bit impossible. He probably wouldn’t do Eurovision. But if, Georgia could be my favourite.
Katie Melula
Anri Jokhadze and I’m a Joker. Best Georgian entry! Let him be your supervisor!
I really doubt is Tamta. While Georgian, her sound and affinity is more Greek and I feel she’d rather try there
Hope it will be band or male. We saw for so many years 75% of female, that we dont wanna them for next ten years 🙂
I think it is Tamta. They would probably reveal her now so Georgia has more support and a better chance for actually winning. The last time the contest had 43 countries in 2008 and 2011, ex soviet states (Russia and Azerbaijan) won for the first time. So my guesses are: Belarus, Armenia or Georgia. So far, judging by Iveta and the selection for Belarus, I think Armenia or possibly Georgia might win. But this is one of my dumb theories.
Hoping for Tamta or Mariam Chachkiani but I highly doubt it.
I really hope they choose the song via a national final because although I liked ‘Waterfall’, I knew it would flop and ‘Three Minutes to Earth’ was dreadful. I think another ‘Warrior’ style song could go really well since Nina was brilliant. I really hope Georgia doesn’t revert into the the tradition of sending a good song one year and a terrible one the next.
I kind of hope it will be a girl, cause I feel like if it continues in this patern, we could get 30 males and 13 females, cause everyone chooses males this year.
But good luck anyways
I think Tamta’s chance for Greece has gone if they do go internal so it could be her. I’d be surprised if it’s not a female and odds are their called “Sopho”.
I have a feeling about tamta. Unfortunately she hasnt go for greece yet and i know that georgians love her so who knows….
I think they’re going for a male act this time
I’d love to see Katie Melua on the Eurovision stage. However it seems rather unreal so I’m hoping for Lisa May
Katie Melua
Here’s hoping it’s Tamta!
Sopho Khalvashi
yay, exciting!
