Today is the day! Europe’s biggest national selection Melodifestivalen 2016 kicks off with the first semifinal, live from Gothenburg’s Scandinavium. After Anna Book’s disqualification, just six artists will sing for two places in the final and two spots in the andra chansen round.
On Thursday we got the first taste of all the songs, when SVT released 30-second-long clips of all the songs. You can read our reviews of all the clips here. Today we are finally hearing the almost full versions of the competing songs. For the remaining 30 seconds you have to watch tonight’s show!
Be aware that these videos will no longer available after tonight’s semifinal due the Melodifestivalen rules.

mitt guld is such a beautiful song, but I don’t expect it to pass
mimi werner and either constellation prize or ace wilder would be the best to go to the final imo
My DTF: 1: Ace Wilder – ‘Don’t Worry’ : This isn’t as good as BDN but it’s still the best of this bunch which really isn’t saying much and I’m still singing it my head. 2: Robin Bengtsson – ‘Constellation Prize’: I do like this but there’s something missing here. Perhaps the one with the most potential. My Andra Chansen Picks: 3: Mimi Werner – ‘Ain’t No Good’ – This is really good and infectious – I just don’t think it’s enough but I would also be pleasantly surprised if this goes DTF 4: S&V – ‘Bada Nakna’ – ‘Groupie’… Read more »
1. Don’t worry 7/10
2. Constellation price 7/10
3. Ain’t no good 6.5/10
4. Bada Nakna 6/10
5. Himmel for tva 4.5/10 (I included it anyway)
6. Mitt Guld 4.5/10
7. Rik 3/10
Prediction
Ace and Samir och Viktor to the final, Robin and mimi on Andra chansen.
@Eugene the similarity is strong but it probably won’t because I doubt SVT would want the star of the show pulled down. Though I don’t think it will do damage in the final anyways.
For me Don’t Worry is way better than Busy Doing Nothing which I didn’t like that much. Its crazy danceable, catchy and current, should be a worldwide hit. This could do serious damage in ESC. Congrats Sweden for never disappointing.
I was a massive fan of Ace in 2014 but this is utter trash. There is no hook, the music isn’t special and the lyrics…just no.
Mimi & Samir & Viktor should qualify but Ace will obviously sail through.
@eugene
I also couldn’t help but sing ‘down, da-da-da-down’ in my mind when I heard that chorus. It’s not straight up plagiarism, but it’s close.
It may not be as good as “Busy Doin’ Nothin'” but I really like Ace’s song this year. And it’s clear she’s going straight to the final, worst case Andra Chansen. I reckon the staging etc. will really elevate this.
I don’t know what the hell is wrong with me today but Samir och Viktor’s is my favorite of this bunch. That chorus + post-chorus combo is so goooood. I hope it gets to the final, direkt or via andra.
Not feeling Ace Wilder’s song yet. Might need to see the full performance later. Right now, I’m enjoying Mimi’s song. It’s a lot more fun than “Don’t Worry.”
If nothing extraordinary happens.. Samir&Viktor and Ace Wilder will sail through to the final. Atleast Ace.
@Eugene
It’s not recycled or something. Exactly the same song! :O
I don’t get the hype over Ace Wilder, didn’t really like her 2014 song and this one is no better for sure. In this semifinal Robin and his “Constellation Prize” sounds very good to me. Good luck Sweden. 🙂
Ace’s song is cool – but doesn’t have the hype of “Busy Doin’ Nothin'”. She’ll surely qualify direkt till final, as her semi-final is quite weak and of six competiting entries overall.
My predictions for tonight: Robin and Ace direkt till final; Mimi and Pernilla andra chansen.
I actually like ace wilder’s song but then again I’m still not that keen on ‘Busy doin nothing’s (don’t shoot me). Fun fact I’m 2014 ace almost went to Andra Chansen and was just around 1000 votes more than the 3rd placing song. As for the rest. Well last year’s semi was a lot stronger it has to be said. I’m guessing Swedish artist were a bit nervous to rrepresent their country on home soil especially what happened in 2013 with Robin. Not a melodifestivalen winner here (I hope) and if this quality of songs is the staple then Sweden… Read more »
Already in the first semi final and I’m going to be somewhat salty about the results. FIVE of these entries are so good and we all know that only FOUR get to progress further. I wonder who’s gonna get left behind.
I’m really feeling Constellation Prize, I think it will go to the final in place of Samir & Victor. And even though Don’t Worry doesn’t have as much impact in the chorus as Busy Doin Nothin, I much prefer it overall.
I think Mimi Werner will edge out Albin & Mattias for the Andra Chansen spot. Hopefully.
When the snippets came out i said there was only 1 good song, but no.
It’s clear that 4 songs are really amazing in their own way.
1. Ain’t no good
2. Constellation price
3. Don’t worry
4. Bada Nakna
Can’t find anything good in the rest of the songs…
What’s with the 30 seconds cut off from them all? Don’t Worry – Ace’s song is DtF for sure based on reputation and a lack of challengers, but I kind of hope it isn’t chosen cos it isn’t all that strong. Having Ace back is good, but unless there’s something hiding in those last 30 seconds I’m disappointed. 8/10 Mitt Guld – OK, so… there’s a million things wrong with this song. I always feel bad saying things like that given I have zero musical talent myself, but anyway. It’s extremely dated, and feels quite derivative. I’m trying to place… Read more »
AAAAAAAAACEEEEE!!!!!!!! <3 <3 <3
Ace is the best and Robin is runner-up <3
ace’s song definitely does not disappoint sounds so good
I like Rik and Constellation Prize. Don’t Worry reminds me of a Lily Allen song from 2014, I think.
QUEEEN ACE!
Ugh, all these songs re too Swedish </3
