wiwivision 2016 semi final 2 1

Since Tuesday, 21 entries have been battling it out in the first semi-final of wiwivision 2016 – our alternative song contest. Over 4,000 votes have already been cast. Y’all are clearly hungry for the music, so let semi-final two commence! The country list is the same as Eurovision 2016, but this time the songs and acts have been chosen by the wiwibloggs team. The 21 entries below all want a spot in the grand final. However, we can only let 13 progress.

Who goes and who stays will be determined by a 50/50 split between readers and the Wiwi Jury. For more details on the voting rules and song selection criteria, click HERE.

You can listen to the 21 semi-finalists below. This isn’t a TV show, so we’ve decided to move away from the producer-led running order favoured by the EBU. The draw is completely random. Obviously, y’all can ignore it and pick and choose who you want to hear first. It’s up to you!

Once you’re ready, vote in our poll. You can vote for as many entries as you like, but you can only vote ONE time. Be sure to check the box next to every entry you want to support before submitting your votes. Voting ends early on Wednesday 15 June and the 13 qualifiers will be revealed on Thursday 16 June.

Of course, y’all can do more than just vote. We have a comment box for a reason – what do you think of our choices? Would you have chosen differently? Who would you have picked instead? And how do our choices rate compared to the “real” Eurovision entries? Let us know!

I’m a bit dumbfounded by the selection of songs in both semi-finals. Considering how strict the Wiwi jury is when judging Eurovision songs, especially on matters like originality, I’m not sure how they like these mostly average-sounding songs enough to choose them for Wiwivision. Anyhow, I thought Norway’s song was definitely the best of this semi-final. Here are my scores: F.Y.R. Macedonia: 4 / 10 Georgia: 4 / 10 Slovenia: 3 / 10 Australia: 3.5 / 10 Serbia: 4.5 / 10 Switzerland: 4 / 10 Italy: 4 / 10 Denmark: 4 / 10 Latvia: 4.5 / 10 Albania: 4 /… Read more »

These UK entry is far more superior than the real eurovision. I think wiwibloggs should get involved with the UK selection process.

Sylwia has so many great songs, and you have chosen the worst, why? ;/

She has an amazing voice. She has one of the best voices in Poland here is the proof: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObCwZ4nva9g.

and here it is one of the most beautiful of her songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goH0I0aLTS0

Italy’s song is one of my favorite ever songs, so seeing here made me freak out. Definitely my winner <3
I've also been super obsessed with Lithuania's song lately, so I am also excited it's here.
I haven't heard of the other songs yet, but I shall listen to them now.

Lea Rue is a great choice for Belgium although the original is much better than the remix. Florrie is great, it’s a pity she didn’t represent last year when she had some stronger bops. Germany is also very cute. Also Bulgaria I think I’ll be adding this to a playlist.

MO is such a huge artist that I mark her down (though the song isn’t great either). Era Istrefi…so over that song.

Elka´s videoclip “Greju scast’e” was shoot in Russia. And she´s performing in Russia, not in Ukraine. Can you inform yourself better next time? Zlata Ognevich were born and have lived in Russia as well, but it´s not the reason to respresent the other country.

Leyla

Why Elka respresents Ukraine????? She has been living and working in Russia for many years. She works with russian producers, composers, dancers and etc. And if she ever goes to Eurovision, she will respresent Russia for 100%!

I’m going to put a vote in for each of my top 10:
1. Albania (I was surprised how much I liked this despite being very…typical pop)
2. Australia
3. Denmark
4. Latvia
5. UK
6. Israel
7. Switzerland
8. Ukraine
9. Norway
10. Bulgaria

The worst of this semi would have to be Macedonia/Serbia (they were the same song, right?), Slovenia (what looked like it was going to be a great idea turned out to be extremely poorly executed) and Belarus.

What I would like is if we could judge the song on its sound and not on visuals, really sick of people Judging a song on the look of the person, wonder if the result would be the same.?
