Those Balkan nations sure do like to tease us. A few days ago, it was announced that Tijana Bogicevic would represent Serbia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. Now, they’ve treated us with the first snippet of Tijana’s song, “In Too Deep” with a clip of the instrumental.
Tijana Bogicevic — “In Too Deep” (Instrumental Snippet)
For y’all who are done with the ballads, then fear no more. This is an up-tempo pop banger if we’ve ever heard one and it sounds like Serbia are going to be bringing it in Kyiv. Given the team behind “In Too Deep”, we’re not surprised either.
The song is written by Borislav Milanov, Bo Persson, Johan Alkenas and Lisa Ann-Mari Linder. Milanov and Person already have one big Eurovision success under their belts: they co-wrote Poli Genova’s “If Love Was a Crime” in 2016. That of course gave Bulgaria fourth place last year, their best ever result. Can they go even further with Tijana?
In a recent interview with RTS, Tijana talks about the song and the team behind her:
“I have to tell you that the song is excellent and that that’s what makes all this easier and what gives me confidence! This team has an impressive biography behind them, and I am really honoured that they picked me for this song, among all the potential singers.
I think this is the beginning of a beautiful collaboration.”
In the same interview, the US-based singer explained how she was chosen for Eurovision. She was given the honour through an internal selection, conducted by the editors of RTS’s music department.
“I wasn’t expecting a call, but it didn’t suprise me either. When I heard the song, I knew I was the logical choice.”
Of course, Tijana already has some Eurovision experience. Back in 2011, she was a backing vocalist for Nina’s “Caroban” — joining the likes of Imri Ziv in stepping up to the lead role. Tijana claims she doesn’t feel the burden of being in the focus: “this is my vocation, which I know how to do, so it’s up to me and and the whole team behind me to do this job the best way we can.”
Asked if “It is important to participate” was her motto, Tijana said that the situation at Eurovision is not that black and white.
“This is music, not sports. It’s not like I have to score three goals and someone else two to know the winner. In order to win, one must hit the musical taste of the audience. Of course, we all want to win in Kyiv and that we are hoping to guess the taste of the audience that are voting!”
What do you think of the snippet of “In Too Deep”? Are you feeling positive about Tijana and the Serbian team in Kyiv? Let us know all your thoughts by shouting them out on the wiwibloggs app. You can also leave a comment in the section below.

Well, I gotta say I really like this and will wait for a final outcome with enthusiasm. So far, so good!
So powerful and mystical. Can’t wait to hear the song. She is fantastic singer, maybe the best female singer this year, it will only be better with her voice.
OMG looks like from cheap local disco …… nothing as big style as expected for ESC …… I AM completely dissapointed…………………..
Well, I am excited about it.
Serbia had a good song last year so hopefully, they can keep that up.
Honestly I wasn’t expecting too much from Serbia, but this sounds reaaaally promising.
It’s apples and oranges, but I would compare this to “LoveWave” at the moment—ethnic elements mixed in a high energy song. I can imagine it building similarly, so I’m thinking it’ll be a great song no matter what.
I can definitely see why it rose in the betting odds, and I can only see it going higher—imagine if Serbia just presented a live version with her belting it out without problem. That’d be crazy!
From the interwebs – Jana (Macedonia) and Tijana (Serbia) have the same author team behind them and they both recorded their songs in Sofia, Bulgaria.
I dunno whether this is actually true tho.
If it is – who got the better one? LOL
@Polegend Godgarina So Azerbaijan is going to have that song this year?
Hopefully Serbia brings good dancers and choreography for once because this kind of song needs quick and exciting movement to go with it.
woahhhhhhhhh this is amazing
getting some B-Complex meets Emeli Sande’s Heaven vibes
this may be the first year that I actually like Serbia
@Polegend Godgarina – thanks for all those interesting behind-the-curtain info. 🙂
Well, I guess those 100 000 euros are part of the whole budget and he wants to be certain that BNT pays its half. Which is OK, I guess. Who paid for Poli last year? LOL
This sounds awesome!
@ MTD – well, it’s still unclear how the things are going in Bulgaria. The original selected artist is hesitating to sign the contract (rumor has it he wants €100k from BNT) so they’re keeping the other song (the one that imo could win) just in case. Others say they’ve given it to Azerbaijan, but Diana Hajiyeva would never sing something like that…
You can see people trying to catch some air when the ballad-syndrome raises in … and in this case uptempo is the way to get out of the ballad boat or you’ll drown …
Are we really celebrating diversity or ballads are to pushed aside and unwelcomed? How paradoxal towards the “diversities” within Eurovision … isn’t it Miss Dana International? Proud of the work you’ve done here?
@Polegend Godgarina – more info! Nice. 🙂
What else? Hahah
@EF0912 – oh, I wanna know more! 🙂
So, this was SUPPOSED to be the Macedonian entry this year? Oh, I love Balkan scandals. Hahahah
They background folksy sound fits better to Macedonia tho, than to Serbia. It has a Bulgarian writer among the writers, and Bulgarian culture is closer to Macedonia than to Serbia. And of course, Joacim Person (the Swede) composed Daniel Kajmakoski’s song back in 2015.
Intriguing. 🙂
It’s worth mentioning that this song was rejected by both Macedonia and Bulgaria before making it to Serbia. I’ve heard the demo, and it’s just okay – the same singer also had a far better song that could win the Eurovision, but I think they gave that one to Azerbaijan.
The Israel leak is here..I assume from the music video filming, but this is promising…:

Ah, Caroban. Good fun from 2011.
I hope it won’t be overloaded. It has vibe of progressive I used to like a decade ago but I know it’s quite unpredictable to wide audience. Last year #TeamPoli reflected trends so awesome that it sounded almost like a fusion, props to a charismatic singer of course.
Didn’t really expect Serbia to have Swedish songwriters, but oh well 🙂
I want to listen more of it! Maybe we have something good from Serbia.
This will flop so hard. Like La Noche Es Para Mi, What About My Dreams, and many other soulless attempts to desperately winning.
@Cambell Grace
I know someone who works at MRT and the delegation. It’s a mess round there.
@DenizNL could you post a link, please?
Sounds great, but I’ll save my final comment for when the full song is released. Judging by this though, it does seem like my home country is going for the win.
This sounds different than all the songs I’ve heard by now… Who knows. Maybe Serbia is serious about winning.
It’s only a snippet of noise..
A part of the Israeli song has been leaked too, that one is also amazing. Just like this one.
@EF0912
Where did you hear this? Intriguing, feel bad for Macedonia now if it was rightfully theirs but I don’t know the entire story. Can you elaborate/post a link to the story?
Countries who post only a snippset to tease are so PRESUMPTUOUS.
Sounds like a lot of background noise, so far.
Btw, it’s March, the submission deadline is coming close. Just release your damn songs. Why would you have to tease at this point? It certainly won’t improve your final product.
Actually this was Jana’s song (Macedonia) for Eurovision but some disagreement meant that Serbia took it instead.
Sounds good.
As a heads up, some comments have been cleaned from someone using the same e-mail and IP address but several different names claiming that another song had been leaked. Nobody likes a faker 😉
Is Europe saving the best for last? Hopefully that’s the case!
Where can I find the snippet of the Belgian entry? I’m soooo excited!!!
Sounds really good!
This sounds amazing! Awesome job Srbija! 🙂
Can someone link the snippet for Blanche please?
This is very interesting!
Love Serbia and it’s always a pleasure to listen to their entry every year!
The snippet is promising, we feel a strong beat coming (up-beat song!),
We’ll see!
I expect great things from Serbia!
@joris bloemkool
Could you share it please?
YAY, it’s not a ballad! Sounds amazing so far.
A liitle bit on the way of the sound of cyprus act
This sounds really promising! This week is very exciting, Serbia is shaping up good, the leaked snippet from Israel sounds great, We’ll finally hear Blanche’s & Slavco’s entries on Thursday & Friday. I’m convinced we still haven’t heard this year’s winner yet. But, maybe by the end of the week we will have.
yeeeesssss serbia! uve been so quiet but this sounds ah-may-zing!
@Joris Bloemkool
Where’s the snippet?
@Frau Von Storch
Considering they internally selected both the singer and song together and they wanted the ‘whole package together’, chances are this isn’t true.
ON TOPIC: Instrumental is strong but I thought similar with Croatia so I’m hoping Serbia prove wrong.
I really love the snippet! I can’t wait for the whole song!
I am shook, SLAY
Yay…..not a ballad and she is a jazz singer…..hope the song is good and makes me wanna dance too.
It sounds great! I almost fear that the vocal part could ruin the epicness of the instrumentals.
Frau Von Storch well Bulgaria has had 2 good results in its 13 year history with only 2 qualifiers, as much as i love the country they turned down many good songs in the past they are known for bad decision making! plus serbia won on its first independent entrant they know what it is to win! about charisma thats not a fair comment until she has presented the entry live
