For the past few weeks the 44 voting clubs of OGAE have revealed their votes in the OGAE Poll 2017. At last all the clubs have reported in, the votes have been tallied and Italy’s Francesco Gabbani has been confirmed as the winner of the OGAE Poll 2017, with his song “Occidentali’s karma”.
Second place has gone to Belgium’s Blanche with “City Lights”, while third place has gone to Sweden’s Robin Bengtsson with “I Can’t Go On”. But before we look at the full results, let’s first catch up with the last of the voting.
First it was time for Germany’s second fan group, Eurovision Club Germany, to reveal their votes. They had 12 points to give to Italy, ten points to Belgium and eight points to Estonia. EC Germany is the only club whose points all went to acts in the overall OGAE Poll top ten.
It’s been half a decade since Turkey last competed at Eurovision, but the enthusiasm at OGAE Turkey hasn’t diminished. Turkey gave 12 points to Italy, ten points to FYR Macedonia and eight points to Belgium. They also had three points to give to Azerbaijan and two points to Denmark.
Then it was the turn of one of the bigger OGAE groups, OGAE Sweden, to reveal their points. Sweden had 12 points for Italy, ten points for Estonia and eight points for France. Sweden’s love for Australia continued with five points going down under. Sweden also had two points for Romania and one point for Montenegro.
Next was OGAE Austria. They gave 12 points to Italy, ten points to Belgium and eight points to France. Austria also had four points to give to Hungary and two to Australia.
Finally it was time for OGAE Poland to reveal where their votes had gone. Their 12 points went to Italy, ten points to Belgium and eight points to Bulgaria. Poland also had a surprise five points for San Marino. This is the only time points have been awarded to Valentina and Jimmie’s disco jam and saves San Marino from the lonely wasteland of nil points.
The scoreboard
With the final totals in, the winner of the OGAE Poll 2017 is confirmed as Italy’s Francesco Gabbani with “Occidentali’s karma”. He scored a record-breaking 497 points. Last year’s winner France had 425 as his winning total. Italy was the only country to receive points from all other countries, including 37 out of 43 available lots of 12 points.
In second place is Belgium’s Blanche with “City Lights” on 335 points. She was closely followed in third place by Sweden’s Robin Bengtsson with 308 points for “I Can’t Go On”.
Rounding out the top five was France’s Alma with 277 points and Estonia’s Koit and Laura on 242 points. The rest of the top ten went to Portugal (122 points), Bulgaria (120 points), FYR Macedonia (107 points), Israel (102 points) and
Finland (64 points).
Belgium, Sweden, France, Estonia and Portugal were the only other countries to score at least one set of 12 points — but with Italy’s domination of the douze points, there wasn’t a lot to go around elsewhere.
Eight countries were unlucky enough to score nil points. This means they all managed to avoid being in the top ten of every voting OGAE. The songs from Albania, Germany, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Slovenia, Spain and Ukraine might not have made enough of an impact, but they still have their fans.
The OGAE poll represents the favourites of the 44 voting fan clubs that are part of the OGAE network. It’s not intended to be a statistically representative poll of Eurovision voters in general, and history has proved that OGAE favourites do not always end up doing well at Eurovision. But it can be considered a good indication of where some of the attention will go (or not go!) in a week’s time.

What do you think? Does the OGAE Poll 2017 predict success at Eurovision? Share your thoughts below!
If another favorite does this, Italy’s odd will get below zero.
Joe exhibiting the usual Italian arrogance and self-obsession. You and your fellow Italians must be deeply insecure to have to compulsively and repeatedly admire, praise and exult Gabbani under every article in ever more blatant ways. You and Polegend GODgarina in particular are totally off the charts and need urgent therapy.
For my personal website http://www.1wxrld.com I have the following classification on my Top 100 weekly chart: 1. Italy 2. France 3. Finland 4. Sweden 5. Hungary 6. Belarus 7. Montenegro 8. Belgium 9. Spain 10. Croatia 11. Cyprus 12. Armenia 13. Estonia 14. Australia 15. Israel 16. Bulgaria 17. Greece
From those countries which didn’t get votes i am surprised about Albania and Slovenia…those 2 songs may surprise…Slovenia is so powerful and i can’t understand why people don’t like it…i could see such a song even winning the contest… but, i guess you all led me to believe that there isn’t any chance it will happen… Germany isn’t that bad too… my country, Israel, still remains a mystery: it can do well or be a flop… all depends on the staging… at the pre eurovision show on NRK( norwegian tv) ,”adresse Kiev” it got 92 points out of 96 from… Read more »
I’ll keep Italy, France, Portugal, Bulgaria, Sweden and Finland. I really believe they’ll all be in the top 10!
I am not confident, but I really want Estonia and Armenia in the top 10!
Azerbaijan has the potential to be in the top 10 but the perfromance may divide people (taking into account the 1st rehearsal)
Australia may also get top 10!
Belgium may qualify but I’m not confident about top 10 after the 1st rehearsal!
OGAE and Eurovision are completely different thing, but it’s yet to happen that a song outside OGAE’s top 10 wins the Eurovision. My predictions so far are that Italy might win in a landslide a’la Euphoria or Only Teardrops. That would also be my wish. Almost every year we get unexpected finalist(s) and unexpected elimination(s). Last year those were Georgia on one side, and Iceland/Norway on the other. This year I have a hunch there would be those as well, and I predict they will come form the second semi-final, as it is obviously more convoluted and without obvious qualifiers.… Read more »
OGAE Poland just lost all their credibility with 5 points going to San Marino, lol.
Eurovision fans in China also voted for their favorites in the fan forum:
1st – Italy
2nd – Denmark
3rd – Switzerland
4th – Norway
5th – Sweden
6th – Estonia
7th – Austria
8th – Azerbaijan
9th – Portugal
10th – Ireland
(the voting is not closed yet though :p)
Cool to see Austria and Ireland so high there. Too bad China doesn’t vote. I’d really like to see them in the finals.
Yet another homophobic Asian country try to get a spot in Eurovision. We have enough from those pro-China and Russia countries like Armenia and Azerbaijan. Don’t even try to compete just because you’re rich.
Just sharing opinions. If you think people outside Europe are not allowed to have their say, then good luck with that.
That landslide tho… Europe knows what’s up this year. Italy is coming for blood, and so is Estonia <3
So Latvia didn’t even vote or I missed something??
In my mind I insert those 5p for Portugal instead of SM 😀
Overall russian club had better taste.
Poland and Sweden gave no points to Portugal? What a shocker…. except not. Seriously, the Sweeds would rather die than to give a point to Portugal, no matter the song. Although understandable with this song.
My country has very bad taste, Portugal deserved points.
Ddraven4, is it common that we don’t give Purtugal points!? Sorry, but I don’t think we have anything agaist Portugal! Well I’m a sweed and I love your song! My top 3!!
By the way, Im not the only sweed! Robin Bengtsson was avsked which song that was his favorites and I know i mentioned Portugal and one more : )
Sweden and Poland, both will give at least 7 or 8 points to Portugal (televote).
They have good taste voting at Eurovision 🙂
That is one of the best jokes I have heard this entire week. Sweden will be to busy voting for pop entries, Australia and their neighbours to give a single point to Portugal while Poland wiol go for neighbours more than anything else + Sweden, Australia, Azerbaijan and Belgium on country name alone.
Poland never vote for Azerbaijan, they are tasteful XD
Only connection is with Ukraine cause diaspora.
Pole votes:
2014: Switzerland and Netherlands
2015: Italy and Estonia
2016: Ukraine and Sweden
They have character and taste in their votes lol
And Swedish televote voted for Il Volo, Conchita or The Common Linnets in the past. They never vote for cheap pop.
As I wrote, I love Portugal and I will at least vote for you and I come from Swedan. I lovet it the first time I heard it! I think Potugal is much better than Italy!
For God sake..Sweden voted for Portugal several times. Last time i guess was in ESC 2014 for Suzy
Ddraven4 um as i am an Australian who lives by the coast, Australia’s neighbours are ocean, more ocean and eeeeven more ocean so I really don’t know what point you are trying to make by referencing Australia’s so called neighbours
12 points for Portugal from Poland.
Satisfied about Estonia’s big success in the ogae voting <3
With 242 earned points Estonia could even win the EuroVision in 2005 & in 2011 : )
Hopefully this success will get repeated in the ESC as well <3
Ukraine has no points? Wtf? They have one of the best songs this year! They better slay in Kiev.
I blame politics for that. I also predict that they may do very badly in the final. 🙁
I said it before. Regardless of how good the guys are, professional jurists will make sure Ukraine doesn’t come near winning again after this fiasco. I feel sorry for O. Torvald, as they are completely innocent in this story.
I like the song but have kind of forget it!
I think that we don’t want a country to win two years i a row, and therefore people don’t give the host countrie the same attention?! I don’t know, but maby??
i don’t think is politics, is about host country. the host is not expected to win and that proves that ogae only cares about being right, not honest with itself.
This Verona schlager is a mystery to me. Maybe my musical taste is more rigorous than OGAE and such but i can’t simply listen to that and be amazed. I enjoy the hooked chorus but in general it’s a vapid song. Fanwank alert right here!
Portugal’s song is so overrated that it’s not even funny. So is Sweden’s.
Portugal is ALWAYS underrated…so lets be overrated for them now..ok?
Wow 497 out of possible 516 is absolutely overwhelming, more than 11.5 points in average. This is a record that’s going to be almost impossible to break.
Reasonable top 10 and I’m glad about Israel’s 9th.
Francesco is a man of records 😀
That was Il volo,a few years to. It is a beautifull song, and a good singer, but you never knows after de live audition on the contest. Italy have to watch out for Belgium,Portugal,France and Sweden.
You do know it’s not the official result right? No actual record has been broken yet. OGAE doesn’t exactly reflect the final result!
Dear Denis,he is spoken about ogae, so hurt you in the ogae did not win your favorite? Why do people always have to criticize, consider others success? They probably have complexes because they themselves did not achieve anything.
Have you acheived anything lately then?
And no, I’m not hurt by OGAE because unlike you I don’t take it seriously. It’s a fun way to show who the fan favourites are but doesn’t reflect anything apart from that.
But in general points in final results Portugal is now 6. But Salvador deserves much more, he is amazing, unique.Ogae has underestimated him. And my country has very bad taste, Portugal deserved to get points.
I am from Poland and I am very dissapointment that my country dont give any points to Portugal, but gives ponts to Bulgaria. Bulgaria is very weak zero points in my opinion, and Portugal is amazing. From me from Poland, 12 points for Portugal.
I love the song of Portugal. Poland is also good. I think,if Blanche (Belgium)is good on stage, lights, sound,no nerves…she will win. Portugal in Top 5, Poland in Top 10.
I’m from Poland too. I like them both Portugal and Bulgaria. My scores:
1 point to Armenia
2 points to Azerbaijan
3 points to Belgium
4 points to UK
5 points to Netherlands
6 points to Finland
7 points to France
8 points to Italy
10 points to Portugal
12 points to Bulgaria
Albania no points at all? Are you kidding me?
I’m also utterly surprised. That song is amazing.
My big surprise is Ukraine. They’re one of my faves this year what the damn hell happened?
What did you expect? They’re hardcore eurovision fans and generally they all have a very similar taste in music which is mainly pop, ballads and dance music. Ukraine is way to different for them to appreciate. This is not an accurate representation of the actual vote because their taste in music is not varied enough as the general population of voters.
Not that OGAE should be taken that seriously but it could just be that it isn’t a very good song?
I love rock, it’s my favourite genre but “Time” isn’t a very good rock song at all. It does nothing and goes nowhere!
It might be because it’s a “peace” song, and I think that anything remotely political is gonna get a backlash from the fans this year after what happened last year.
However, I expect Lindita will get points from the juries in the real contest.
I didn’t like Albania the first listenings, but now I do! I hope it will do well it’s in my top 10.
