They both represented their countries in Düsseldorf 2011. Now Glen Vella and Mika Newton have even more in common: they’re getting married!
No, they are not engaged to each other, but both of them shared news of their own separate betrothal bliss with us last week.
Glen Vella announced his engagement to his long-term boyfriend Sandro Zammit on Instagram. The pair has been to together for 16 years and have now finally put a ring on it.
And what better place to do it than in the city of love, Paris. The question was popped on the bank of the Seine, under the Eiffel Tower. It doesn’t get more romantic than that! The pair celebrated the occasion with souvenir t-shirts.
Hopefully it won’t take the lovely couple another 16 years to finally tie the knot!
In his Eurovision entry Vella sang about having only one life and that you should live it to the fullest and just be exactly the way you are because there’s only one you. A good message to take into his own future marriage.
Despite the upbeat and uplifting message, in 2011 Malta was left in the first semi-final in 11th place, only one point away from making it to the final.
Mika Newton might not have gotten engaged last week, but she sure was celebrating her new relationship status with a big engagement party. The engagement itself was announced by Mika on her Facebook page in late September and again on her Instagram in October. The lucky guy is named Chris Saavedra and is from California, where the pair met after Mika moved to the USA following her Eurovision success.
In her Eurovision entry Mika sang about an angel in the form of a significant other, and, baby, has she found her angel today!
Ukraine did fairly well in 2011, you could say — ending in fourth place with 159 points, which is Ukraine’s sixth best placing so far.
We at wiwibloggs wish both Glen Vella and Mika Newton all the happiness in their future marriages and congratulate them both. Do you have any wedding preparation tips for them? Or maybe some marital tips? Or just want to send them a congratulatory message? Leave them in the comments below!
Wait a minute! Glen Vella is…GAY? 😮 Yikes! 🙁
A big congratulations to Glen and Sandro – together 16 years but only free to marry this year, after Malta legalised same sex marriage. What a joyous feeling to finally have the same opportunity as everybody else.
lowkey misleading title :/
God I thought they were marrying each other, was like WAT.
Would have been interesting if they did. But of course, straight couples are not that important appearently….
What you said is completely illogical. This article is both about a gay couple and a straight couple, they’re both mentioned equally, so how is one more important than the other?
