This weekend Iceland will decide its representative for Eurovision 2019 at the grand final of Söngvakeppnin 2019. It will be a glamorous evening, with Eurovision 2018 runner-up Eleni Fouriera making a guest appearance. But who should win?

Five artists will compete in the national final. The line-up consists of former Euroband singer Friðrik Ómar, anti-capitalist BDSM techno performance art group Hatari, Eurovision legend Hera Björk, grand final wildcard winner Kristina Skoubo Bærendsen and rising pop singer Tara Mobee.

The five finalists will perform their songs in the grand final and will face the first round of voting from the jury vote and public televote. The two top-scoring acts will then face a superfinal vote, which will decide who will need to start packing their bag — or bags — for Tel Aviv.

But who should win? Take a listen to the five competing acts and vote in our poll. Remember, you can vote for as many acts as you like, but you can only vote once — so make it count!

Friðrik Ómar – “Hvað ef ég get ekki elskað?”

Hatari – “Hatrið mun sigra”

Hera Björk – “Moving On”

Listen to the grand final version of Hera’s song.

Kristina Skoubo Bærendsen – “Mama Said”

Listen to the grand final version of Kristina’s song.

Tara Mobee – “Fighting for Love”

Listen to the grand final version of Tara’s song.

Who is your favourite act to win Söngvakeppnin 2019?

[polldaddy poll=10251001]

What do you think? Who is your favourite to win? Who can get Iceland back in the Eurovision grand final? Tell us your thoughts below!

Hatari needs to win! This ESC is so boring and the audience will need something to wake them up.

Well… This poll is not close, peoples.
But the decision is up to Iceland (mainly). Are there any Icelandic fans here who can tell us their views?

Iceland is pretty split between Hatari and Fridrik, from what I’ve seen. Probably Fridrik will win thanks to the jury.

I think Hatari would be best but I actually don’t mind ‘Mama Said’ it’s catchy… and better in Icelandic

This is very obvious: Fridrik!
Hatari are just overrated crap, as it usually happens among national selections. I’m counting on the jury to save this selection and refuse to send Hatari to Tel Aviv.

If a song needs to depend on the jury to get through a national selection, then it’s already a failure

Yeah, say that to Salvador Sobral… 758 points!
Hatari is a failure

Mahmood from Italy won only with jury votes, but it doesn’t seem like a failure to me (and everyone else).

Semi 1 really doesn’t need another ballad. Iceland had better send something more uptempo

Hera or Tara can be great acts. Tara needed some rehearsing and a better staging plans if they want the song to work live.

Hatari. Icealnd should choose something new, otherwise some kind of ballad once again fail to get to the finals. Besides, lots of people in Europe are ready to vote for Hatari on the ESC, this is important.

I have this terrible feeling that Hatari will either decline going to Tel Aviv or Icelandic jury won’t even let them win. I don’t think it’s just a coincidence that they added jury voting to the superfinal. Anyway I won’t be surprised if they just reject the offer as we keep losing competitive entries this year with endless scandals/dramas.

Or they win, then make something too provocative at a press conference and be banned shortly before their first performance.

Hatari is overrated by so many ESC fans. I tnink if they win and go to ESC , they will flop like AWS last year (both with juries and televote). In semi thanks to televote 9,10 place, in final from 18 to 21 place, thanks to televote.

Even if you’re right they would provide much needed variety.

I think they have way more televote appeal than AWS did. People might vote for them just because they find the whole BDSM thing funny. As for the juries, who knows. No one expected them to like Georgia 2016 as much as they did, they could surprise us.
