In Lisbon she was a backing dancer.
But if Spotify streams are any indication, Lisa Børud will take a step toward becoming a Eurovision leading lady on Saturday night.
That’s because her upbeat anthem “Talking About Us” has racked up the most streams on Spotify since release.
Lisa has notched up 33,882 streams at time of publishing. If that’s reflected in voting it should put her in poll position to make the Melodi Grand Prix 2020 final in Trondheim in February.
Lisa Børud most streamed artist in Semi-Final 1 of Melodi Grand Prix 2020
But Lisa’s win is not a done deal. Her next nearest competition, returning act Raylee has also racked up over 30,000 streams since her track “Wild” was released.
She’s just under 4000 streams behind Lisa on 30,213 and should provide close competition on the night.
The field widens significantly thereafter. Geirmund has less than half of the ladies’ streams. His drum-heavy entry “Come Alive” sits on 13,189 streams since release. That could make for an uphill battle to come out on top on the night.
Kim André Rysstad brings up the rear. His melodramatic turn “Rainbow” is the only one of the four semi-finalists below 10,000 streams on the eve of the semi-final. “Rainbow” has been streamed 9664 times, which puts Rysstad a long way behind the leaders.
Melodi Grand Prix 2020 Semi-Final 1
While streams offer an indication, Spotify is only part of the story. The four artists will need to convince online voters on the night.
The first weekly semi-final of Melodi Grand Prix 2020 takes place on Saturday at 19:55 CET. The semi-finalists will perform alongside pre-qualified finalist Sondrey. He released his entry “Take My Time” in the early hours of this morning.
The ten finalists will compete at the grand final on 15 February and the eventual winner will represent Norway at Eurovision 2020 in Rotterdam.

Nope….Another generic pop.
as long as that horrid ‘wild’ song stays in the semi-final…
Amen!
Well-spotted Spotify statistics, thanks Angus.
On YouTube, interestingly Deban preferred Lisa’s song over Raylee’s, although William found Lisa’s song to be good but “one-note”.
I see both points, and I raise them a “Do It For Your Lover” and a “We Got Love” – two songs with even more “one-note” refrains! 🙂
Well, my ratings would go: 5/10 (Wild), 4.5/10 (Talking About Us), 4/10 (We Got Love) and 3/10 (Do It For Your Lover), so it turns out I agree with you. As you can see, I find none of these songs particularly amazing.
And I agree that this semi is just rubbish.
well you can see why Sondrey’s song was pre-qualified, stood out from these other semi 1 entries by far
But it’s also about the fact that a major label has released the most streamed song. And New Music Friday placement
sorry but i just listened to Raylee… if she really is able to deliver on the staging Raylee could definitly inspire some Fuego \ dangerous vibes for the win.
Lisa was my least favorite in weak batch so,,,, I hope not.
Hopefully not, her song is painfully uninteresting. Personally, I’d have Geirmund winning the heat, although none of the songs really stand out tbh.
Yes, I agree with you. Geirmund is my winner here too, although i can’t see any of the 4 ultimately winning MGP
Geirmund is the only good choice, but its still a bit of a snooze ngl. Def not a winner.
Lisa literally looks like a Norwegian Kate McKinnon! Love her
is that any surprise, the whole Borud family are very famous in Norway, no surprise she has most spotify streams
I would rank the four semi entries similarly as the spotify streams even their streams sound proportional to how much I like them !!
