Maneskin Miley Cyrus

It’s a case of midnight sky meeting moonshine. Yes, the Euro fandom is exploding after Miley Cyrus shared Måneskin‘s cover of her 2020 hit “Midnight Sky”. Many have been calling for a collaboration between these musical icons. Maybe it’s now one step closer…

Miley Cyrus shouts out to Måneskin

Earlier on Monday, Måneskin shared a story on their instagram where Damiano sang “Midnight Sky” accompanied by Thomas on the guitar.

Just minutes after that Miley Cyrus answered. She shared their clip on Instagram along with the caption: “My best friends”.

And then the fandom erupted, and you know, people got creative:

While the possibility of a collaboration between Miley and Måneskin is pure speculation (as far as we know), it’s adding fuel to the dreams of many fans who have been fantasizing about the possibility ever since the band mentioned they would love to duet with her.

Miley and Måneskin are already both signed to the Sony-affiliated RCA record label, smoothing the way for a potential collaboration.

Curiously, it’s the American hitmaker who has made the next move by following the band on Instagram. That’s led a lot of Italian fans to wonder if Måneskin — who dropped their long-time manager shortly after winning Eurovision — could be in talks with Miley’s manager Adam Leber.

Of course, we’re sure Miley loves the group and their style regardless of her management. It’s worth noting how Miley Cyrus’ last album Plastic Hearts has a heavy glam-rock influence. Can you imagine, say, “Night Crawling” with Damiano’s voice instead of Billy Idol’s?

Not just Miley Cyrus: Celebrities react to Måneskin

When you’re catapulted to international stardom as Måneskin has been in recent weeks, you’re going to find your name on the tips of countless tongues. Plenty of international celebrities have reacted to the band on social media. For example, Michelle Visage — known for her epic judging on RuPaul’s Drag Race — gave them her fashion blessing.

Italians were delighted with their third Eurovision win, and so was one of the country’s most popular influencers. Instagrammer Chiara Ferragni (who many of you may recognise from Amazon’s fashion series Making The Cut) shared Måneskin’s triumph with her 23.7 million followers.

Okay, it’s just a gallery of photos of herself, but she does shout out to Italy at ESC!

Many former Eurovision stars also reacted to Italy’s victory. But Cyprus’ Eleni Foureira took it to another level in a way only she could. Fancy a Fuego-Zitti e buoni mashup?

Måneskin’s impact on the charts: A recipe to worldwide success?

Eurovision brought Måneskin global success across both the Spotify charts and traditional sales charts. In fact, they were the highest-placed Eurovision 2021 act on Billboard Global Excl. U.S. Chart last week and have spent two weeks on the UK’s Official Chart, becoming the first foreign band since Rammstein to make it.

It’s not just about “Zitti e buoni”. Their album track “I Wanna Be Your Slave” continues its climb on the UK charts, having entered at No.83 last week, and rising to No.24 this week.

While the English-language track has not been officially released as a single, it’s proving popular with Måneskin fans old and new. They performed the track at their Wiwi Jam performance, which has gathered over 16 million views since May 20.

Their popularity is not just about the charts. They will soon hit the theatres as Disney signed them for the Italian version of their recently released film Cruella. They will be covering The Stooges’ “I Wanna Be Your Dog”.

Two international hit singles, a massive new fandom and a wave popularity across borders. Måneskin’s impact is one of the biggest in recent memory for a Eurovision winner.

A collaboration with an international superstar seems like another reasonable step on the road to global domination. Will Miley Cyrus be the one? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

They should continue with their own authentic style instead of collaborations…They are going to lose a lot of fans if they become a part of that crazy machinery.

You know, also the Van Halen were singing from time to time “happy birthday to you” to some of the band members. Weren’t they rock? I don’t think so.

Maneskin are too cool to care about what ordinary self-proclaimed rock connoisseurs think is permissible.

Both “Zitti e buoni” and “I Wanna Be Your Slave” reached a new peak on Billboard’s Global 200 chart, at #22 and #32, respectively: https://www.billboard.com/charts/billboard-global-200 Now they have two top 40 hits on the chart. Yay!

My personal theory is that ESC winners have a rhythm of fire-ballad-fire-ballad. Think of it: after Finnish rock monsters (fire!) instead of iconic Serduchka (fire!) wins Molitva (ballad). Then: Euphonia (fire!) – tear drops (ballad) – rise like a phenix (fire!) – heroes (not quite a ballad but not fire either) – 1944 (fire! But also a bit off) – portugal (the ballad of them all) – toy (quirky fire!) – duncan (ballad) – måneskin (fire on steroids!) i bet next year we get a ballad as a winner, a good well designed traditional ballad, aka revenge for those who… Read more »

Måneskin’s second album Teatro d’ira – Vol. I debuted at #4 on Spotify’s Top Global Albums chart this week: https://twitter.com/spotifycharts/status/1401886779188334594 Also, “I Wanna Be Your Slave” is at #16 on Spotify’s UK Top 50 chart today, so it is very likely it’s going to reach a higher position on the official singles chart this Friday.
