Malta in Junior Eurovision 2021: Ike and Kaya “My Home”
Ike Mizzi and Kaya Gouder Curmi, both just 11 years old, rose to fame after competing in the 2020 series of Malta’s Got Talent where they placed fourth in the grand final.
Ike has been involved with the music industry for around two years. Meanwhile, Kaya says music has been her passion since she was five years old.
Kaya previously competed in Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with her song “Made of Stars” — no connection to Israel’s Eurovision 2016 entry from Hovi Star. She also competed in Sanremo Junior, placing first in her category.
The duo earned the right to represent their country in Paris after winning the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 national final. They will sing “My Home” in the grand final at La Seine Musicale.

What do the “My Home” lyrics mean?
“My Home” is a romantic ballad-come-pop song in a style akin to some of Disney’s most-loved musical numbers — or perhaps even a certain Will Ferrel Netflix favourite. Kaya takes the lead vocal, while Ike comes in with a rap on the second verse.
The lyrics describe the excitement of being young and in love for the first time. As Kaya belts out her feelings, she sings of finding comfort in her blossoming romance, declaring: “when I’m with you it feels like home”.
Ike’s rap is reminiscent of Justin Bieber’s early discography. He portrays a timid head-over-heels in love character, discovering these feelings for the first time: “I got feelings that I ain’t never really felt in my life”.
Ike and Kaya’s track features the songwriting talents of Owen Leuellen, who finished as first runner-up to Michela Pace on The X Factor Malta in 2019.

English text
We’re floating high above the clouds
Past Jupiter, we won’t look down
It feels like magic levitate ’til we fly higher
Don’t tell me it’s not real just ’cause we’re young
We’ll make it but we won’t go past the stars
Where do we go if we keep dreaming
What if our world would change today
Where do we go
We’re never alone
Maybe if we just keep on believing
Maybe we can live in a fairytale
Where do we go
When I’m with you it feels like home
When I’m with you it feels like home
They say home is where the heart is but you stole mine
When you came in my life it’s like I found me a gold mine
You can look me in my eyes when you hold my hand
But you won’t understand I got feelings that
I ain’t never really felt in my life
So I started giving hints tryna show you
I’m the one for you so we can do this right
So come on, step closer let me hold you
Where do we go if we keep dreaming (Where do we go)
What if our world would change today (Yeah)
Where do we go
We’re never alone
Maybe if we just keep on believing (Keep on believing)
Maybe we can live in a fairytale
Where do we go
I will never let you be alone
We’re never alone
Where do we go if we keep dreaming
What if our world would change today (Yeah I’m always beside you)
Where do we go (Where do we go now)
‘Cause you feel like home
Maybe if we just keep on believing
Maybe we can live in a fairytale (I will never let you be alone)
Where do we go
‘Cause when I’m with you it feels like home
When I’m with you it always feels like home
Ain’t nothing to hide now the cover is blown
Now it’s all out and I’ve seen enough
To know what I’m looking at is but a seed of love
I see faith and I see our future in your eyes
Never alone
You are my home

Pfft this comment section is basically telling their whole point
Don’t say it’s not true just cause we’re young
They’ll make it if they just keep on believing
Also what’s wrong about this?I get its romantic but if it’s not appropriate they won’t understand
PS don’t hate me
You got this Ike and Kaya win this for malta
A cute and promising song but needing a revamp, the performers are very talented, this little rapper is a future star he is so good, but I admit some of the lyrics are not really age appropriate which is something I don’t really like in a jesc song. It’s like the little girl from Russia saying “come to me” (like Maruv said), her song is nice but these lyrics disturb me.
But good luck Malta, you could do very well with your revamped version and some lyrics changes because the right bases are already present.
don’t know if im the only one but i get massive San Marino 2018 vibes in every single aspect.
So cringe, and that manbun is ridiculous
He’s eleven.
I think the two 11 year olds from Malta are just fantastic. Good luck to them both. Sing your heart out young lady and you rap your heart away young man xx Bravo both of you x
Wiwibloggs, it is the 3rd time I tell you but unfortunately you didn’t see. Ofenbach, the French DJs who made a song, “Paradise” with Benjamin Ingrosso, will open the Junior Eurovision in Paris. It is confirmed by France TV.
They finally wrote an article about Offenbach. You can stop now
Do you think we will ever see two eleven-year-old boys or two eleven-year-old girls sing a song like this to each other? I doubt it.
Of course, I wouldn’t want that either.
Spain so far is my favorite this year. Malta is an okay song.
It’s a solid entry. Not ground-breaking by any means, but it’s not as awful as some people suggest.
Don’t tell them it’s not real because they’re eleven. They’ll make it, but they won’t go past the stars.
I like the song and wish them good luck in Paris
Kids were pretending all the time to be boyfriend and girlfriend when i was ‘young’ young.
this is….not it
wasn’t there a rule in the 00s that no adults could be involved in the songwriting process ? that was back when there was a russian supervisor. most of the jesc songs i heard from recent years sound like they might as well be sung by adults… i can’t blame those countries that say they no longer participate in jesc bc it’s not about the children anymore.
we can discuss the lyrics of the song and yes ….they are not age-appropriate in some cases ….but do you want songs like Bzz (noise of the bees) Georgia 2008?
That is for kids age 2-8 and not for pre-teens and teens.
the target audience for jesc is literally kids, i would never listen to a song like bzz but at the same time it doesn’t bother me bc it’s appropriate for the show
