Back at the start of the February, Malta chose their act for Eurovision 2024. In the month since then, it’s been hard to have Sarah Bonnici’s entry on “Loop” owing to its non-existence on streaming platforms. However, the wait is finally over and you can now add a brand new version to your playlist.
The Maltese singer has shared the revamped edition of the song, which is the version she’ll be performing in Malmö this May.

The new rendition of “Loop” comes with reinforced production to give the song extra power and dynamism.
One of the biggest changes you’ll hear on first listen is the updated melody for the title lyric during the start of the chorus.
Sarah worked on the revamped version with established Swedish songwriters Joy Deb and Linnea Deb. The pair have been involved with crafting several Eurovision and national final songs — this includes Måns Zelmerlöw’s 2015 winner “Heroes”, Saara Aalto’s 2018 entry “Monsters”, Senhit’s 2021 song “Adrenalina”, and most recently Marcus & Martinus’ 2024 hit “Unforgettable”.
Malta will be hoping that this revamped edition of “Loop” will help take the country back to the Eurovision grand final. Sarah will be aiming to qualify from the second semi-final on 9 May.

This is bad, sorry. Trying to pull of SloMo and Unicorn but it ends up really so messy and tryhard.
I can’t see much difference. Not sure what the Debs did either! Certainly no miracles were done on this! Nothing made a difference. Unfortunately, as much as I hate saying this, it still remains generic, unimpressive, plastic pop with no heart. Thumbs up for the video clip but it still does not sell it to me. It’s not only that the WOW factor missing, it is also not clear what the singer wants to be or what the song is all about. With a powerful performance using lights and video it can qualify. It costs money and Malta needs a very strong team.
Malta’s qualification will totally depend on staging & choreo.
I don’t really hear any difference to the original. There do seem to be a fair few entries with writhing dancers squirming around the singer. So old hat now. I just don’t feel Malta brings us the best they have these days. Shame because I have loved do many of their songs.
Yes, true. Malta is in the “Dark age” (Eurovision-wise) that many countries go through from time to time. They will find it again. I say again: Bring back Destiny! 🙂

Feels very meh to me and outdated. This is like 2007-2012 formula that many countries followed. It sounds nice because this is probably the first time they are singing in Azeri?
In the second semifinal they would have a chance, in Semi 1 easy NQ.
Improved – but remains pop trash, I’m afraid!
The song itself is very weak, but I like her stage presence, and I don’t think her qualification chances are DOA. They had better song choices in MESC, but she was easily the best performer.
It’s a good revamp; it does all sound punchier than in the original version and the hook in the chorus is stronger than it was.
The problem with this entry is though that it’s a basic bop that offers nothing that we haven’t heard or seen before. It’s good formula pop, but in a year where there are so many songs that have much more of a soul than this, I think this will struggle to stand out enough.
where’s is the old malta….It seems that they are disappearing from Eurovision like from geography, becoming smaller .. they’re going backwards
I’ll be honest i didn’t even remember the song from the National Final that is to say it didn’t make an impression. This does. Well done the production team. My thoughts are now we have quiet a lot of these uptempo dance songs like in 2021. Like then all good but they all ended up cancelling one another out and out of the blue rock won. So what now for this year who is currently under the radar with something different other than dance and waiting to win thru!

i’d say Norway stands a good chance, Gunnhild has Floor Jansen levels of amazingness vibes for me and i get winner vibes with that song either
but i’d also think Ukraine are very much again with a strong chance, also a good bop

I’m not sure I’d class that as rock and certainly not with the title Rim Tim Tagi Dim lor the name Baby Lasagne.
Wow. The video is working real hard to distract you from the song and the singing. And she actually can sing.
Not bad, but as some other people say below it is a copy of “SloMo” and “Unicorn”. One just had to see the live performance to confirm it.
That formula didn’t work with Cyprus when trying to replicate the Fuego formula.
Really, if you put Slomo and Unicorn = Loop is born. A blend of the two songs. It’s not bad per se, but the result is a bit unexciting.
Of course she may have a solid staging and performance and nail it. We will see.
Based on what we hear and know so far, the song does not stand out or impress. So they need a lot of hard work to make it go through.

Oh, dear Malta! The song is not bad, but it is such a copy-paste from Chanel and Noa Kirel (almost an identical blend of the two songs).
Will she be able to pull it off live? Based on the national final performance, I was not impressed.
I wouldn’t mind if it qualified for the final, but I find it a bit tricky to reach that goal.

that’s not true. Chiara in 1998 and 2005 and Ira Losco in 2002 came MUCH closer to winning than Destiny ever did.
I am not saying that, rather it’s my wish (or feeling) that Destiny can bring a Top-5 or Top-3 rank for Malta, or even win. I have so much faith in that girl.

The song isn’t a winner but deserves a final place.
I never understood the hate towards this song. I mean it’s not very original, but it’s catchy, she’s a charismatic performer and a good dancer., personally I don’t find much to criticize. Not a winner but I think it deserves a plqce in the final.

Afraid so. The “revamp” is a deterioration not an improvement. And I bet it cost many EUR/SEK.
I preferred the original as well. It dropped quite dramatically in my rankings after the revamp.

The revamp cleaned up things at least to a certain degree. If I compare this song with all the other female bops from this year, it’s not the worst of them.
The thing is, will she be able to pull it off live on stage? Based on the national final performance, pffff, the road to the final is not paved with roses…
There’s already one pointless Debs song in the final. You’re not doing the contest a favor by hiring the same people who already made Melodifestivalen unlistenable. The nicest thing I can say: I would definitely put it in the final instead of Unforgettable. It’s certainly better than that. But inside the strong semi 2, it’s a NQ for me.
By far the worst female bop of this year (for me personally). In the strong semi final Malta is in, this doesn’t have any chance to qualify (unfortunately).
There are lots of interesting choreographies in the video and the way they play with the lights creating shadows behind the dancers gives more energy to the visuals. I hope they will be able to recreate that on stage because those visuals elevate the song. It was worth waiting for it. Good job Malta!
We’ve seen similar songs and performances many times on the ESC stage. Only a solid and fascinating performance and staging will push it to the final. And for that, I have doubts.
