Following their victory last year, Switzerland has the honour of hosting Eurovision 2025 in Basel this May. The country has decided to field some home-grown talent as their host entry, with Zoë Më set to wave the Swiss flag.

Swiss broadcaster SRG SRR made the artist announcement on Wednesday. But we’ll have to wait until Monday 10 March to hear Zoë’s song.

Zoë Më to sing for Switzerland at Eurovision 2025

The announcement was accompanied by an Instagram post where Zoë introduces herself and gives a hint about her song. Sat playing the piano, she sings:

“Hey Eurovision, this is Switzerland calling. I’m Zoë Më and I can’t wait to represent my country in Basel. I can’t wait to see you in Basel and to take you on a voyage with me.”

Speaking further about the chance to perform at Eurovision, Zoë noted:

“Representing Switzerland at the ESC while we are hosting the contest is a huge honour and a surreal experience. I’m from Basel, and my grandparents live here. This is a full-circle moment, just like something out of a fairytale.”

At 1.80 metres tall, Zoë Më describes herself as a “little fairy” with a deep connection to two cultures.

She sings in both German and French, blending poetic pop with ‘chanson’. Born in Basel, she lived in Germany before moving with her family to Fribourg in 2009. She began writing her own songs at the age of 10, and her love for the French language soon began to shape her musicality; which she nurtured through school, friendships, and personal passion.

Her ability to bridge cultures through music has earned her widespread recognition. In 2024, she was awarded ‘SRF 3 Best Talent’ and ‘RTS Artiste Radar’. Her bilingual EP Dorienne Gris led to performances at prestigious festivals, including the Montreux Jazz Festival and Luzern Live.

Are you excited to hear what Zoë Më will perform at Eurovision? Which language would you like her to sing in? Let us know in the comments below.

Beautiful portrait indeed. Yeah, kinda like a mix of Kirsten Dunsts and Mona Lisa.

Looking at her portrait I am thinking she resembles someone else but I just can’t bring the person to mind. It is not someone I know personally, but a performer of some sort. Any idea who is hiding in the dark recesses of my mind? It’s been nagging me all day.

Kirsten Dunst? Maybe that’s just me.

She will sing in both French and Germany. I´m really looking forward so much

There could be a new record with entries in national languages.

Seems promising. The photo used here seems like an 18th century portrait or something. I like her already.

Yeh it definitely makes her look older than 24 but times were hard in the 18th century i suppose.

Interesting choice, I hope she sings in German and French, it would be Interesting to mix these 2 languages in a song, it would be original and not very often seen.
Good luck to her, she must feel so proud to be the representative of the host country.

Ok why not but 4 languages in one song is quite a challenge!

There are options, like a language per verse, pre-chorus in one language, chorus in one language and such. Echoing a word in one language, in three other languages.

What a great choice to choose somebody from the actual host city to represent at Eurovision. While we have heard French from Switzerland in 2021, we haven’t heard any German language entry from Switzerland since 1998! Since Switzerland is already a finalist because it’s hosting the contest, this is the chance to send anything they want because they don’t have to worry about qualification.

I just realized we haven’t had a female singer for Switzerland since 2018 and a soloist at that since 2015.

Rykka identifies as nonbinary, whether you want to consider that any different when they’re born a woman.

I think passports should include photo ID of genitalia instead of a a face.

Rykka is non-binary, although I don’t know if they openly identified as such at the time of their 2016 participation.

Probably taken a while to get over the (undeserved) zero points in 1998

If her song is in French or German, it will be the first time since the introduction of the semifinals that all automatic qualifiers will sing in their national languages.

I love that they chose a hometown rep. I think that’s so authentic and should give a real sense of pride for the city.

Absolutely. Whatever result they get in the end, there’s nothing to be ashamed.

I must say I’m pleasantly surprised. As a Swiss I never heard of Zoë before, but after watching some of her music videos, she gives me the impression of being a real artist.
