Miss Italia 2025 Finale, Palasavelli, Porto San Giorgio, Marche, Italy

The 86th anniversary of the Miss Italy beauty pageant was a televised spectacle held. Held at Porto San Giorgio, it was all glitz and all glamour as the show celebrated Italian beauty. During the intermissions, the music on offer was as varied as the personalities on stage.

Gue featuring Shablo, Torment, Rkomi and Johua performed. However, the two standout stars descended from the Eurovision universe: Serhat and Senhit.

Serhat and Senhit take centre stage at Miss Italy beauty pageant

Senhit performed a solo version of her Eurovision hit “Adrenalina”, whilst Serhat dug deeper into his catalogue to perform a freshly-choreographed version of “Je m’adore”.

Both stars have represented San Marino twice at the Eurovision Song Contest, and if their most recent performance at Miss Italia 2025 is anything to go by, the call for Serhat to defend San Marino’s best Eurovision result has grown louder.

Miss Italia 2025

In 86 years, the national beauty pageant of Italy, Miss Italia, has evolved with the times. The contestants are not numbers on a sash. They are strong, beautiful women who empower their communities and themselves by setting goals, celebrating them and using them to give back.

They are not solely judged on their physical beauty, but also on their character and ability to make a difference. After an intense battle of regional heats and a live grand final, Katia Buchicchio, a dentistry student representing the Basilicata region was crowned Miss Italy 2025.

Serhat and Senhit at the Eurovision Song Contest

San Marino debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008. In 2011, Senhit represented the small nation with a ballad “Stand By”. Her performance helped spark an interest for San Marino Radio and Television (SMRTV) to raise funding for the contest, after pulling out due to financial difficulties in 2009 and 2010.

In 2016, Serhat teased a smoky ballad titled “I Didn’t Know” ahead of the contest, and revamped it into a disco version at the Eurovision semi-finals. A year later, the track was re-worked into a duet featuring dance music legend Martha Wash. This version became a hit on the Billboard dance charts.

But there’s more…. In 2019, after a successful campaign, Serhat returned to the contest as San Marino’s internally selected act. He performed a self-written composition “Say Na Na Na”. With this song, Serhat encouraged us to look past sorrow and dance into the light. This composition came with a bundle of remixes, and re-worked versions in Spanish and German. Its success was immediate. The song charted high in unlikely places like Slovakia and Vietnam, and his performance went on to secure San Marino’s best result at the Eurovision Grand Final. Six years on, this record has not been beaten.

In 2020, Senhit was selected to represent San Marino with the song “Freaky”. Following the contest’s cancellation as a result of COVID-19, she returned the following year, and featured American rapper Flo Rida on the track “Adrenalina”, securing San Marino another grand final qualification.
