Today we will finally find out the last three finalists of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) 2016 — Finland’s national selection for Eurovision 2016. Over the past week the Wiwi Jury reviewed all the competing songs and now it’s time to go through the results.
It really seems that the last is the least, as none of the songs in third semifinal managed to achieve an average score of 6 or higher. But there still has to be a winner and this week it’s Sandhja. Her song “Sing It Away” was described as a “catchy, summery song” but also as a “mishmash of confusion”. She is still our favourite to qualify from the third semifinal with an average of 5.82.
Tied in second place are Lieminen with “Pehmeiden arvojen vaalijat” and the Gušani Brothers with “Poom poom“. Both received a score of 5.71, but as eight of our jurors ranked Lieminen higher than the brothers, it puts him in second place. They both would still qualify for the final, if the Wiwi Jury decided the winners.
This obviously means that Tuuli Okkonen, Pietarin Spektaakkeli and Barbe-Q-Barbies are not heading to the final, in our minds anyway.
But this only what we think. Who are your favourites in the third semifinal? Tell us in the comments!

Tuuli, Sandhja, and Barbies should make it – based on how well they do live. I predicted Rafaela last week but her live vocals were not on par with Mikael…
poom poom , bbq barbies , tuuli
For straight people and people that likes good music, this isn’t a weak semi final at all.
My prediction (and favourites): Sandhja, Tuuli and B-Q Barbies
@Colin – There are no juries in the semifinal phase, they have a word and vote only in the final.
Tuuli Okkonen, Sandhja, Gushani Brothers.
Unlike semi 1 and 2, third one has a disperency of jury and public votes, with Tuuli winning the poll, but not being even among top 3 acts according to jury. My prediction is: 1) Tuuli passes – if she sings it well, it will be a standout as more mystical, Nordic feel ballad. 2) Sandhja passes – second in public voting and first by jury, she will probably make an energetic impact. 3) Gušani Brothers pass – they have a silly song, but it’s so damn catchy that they might make it true. I would love to see Lieminen… Read more »
Definitely the best two!
