Thirty-six OGAE fan clubs have now cast their votes in the OGAE Poll 2016, with 16 of them doing so since our last update.
Clubs from Belgium, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany (OGAE), Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malta, Montenegro, Norway, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine have awarded points to their ten favourite songs. Let’s go through the current standings and see who’s on top — and who’s bottoming out…
France’s Amir remains in the lead, having earned top marks from twelve countries. Since our last update Belgium, Estonia, Malta, Norway and Ukraine have ranked him the best. Every single club has awarded points to France — except for the French club, of course — and Amir stands atop the leaderboard with 345 points.
Russia’s Sergey Lazarev is holding steady in second place. Every country has awarded Russia something and 13 countries have ranked “You Are The Only One” as the best song of the year. Russia has 324 points — just 21 fewer than France.
In third place — and some distance from second — is Australia’s Dami Im. Ireland, Rest of the World and Turkey ranked Australia the best, but 15 clubs have placed “Sound of Silence” in their top three. Dami’s 234 points keep her firmly in third position.
Bulgaria’s Poli Genova (142 points) and Italy’s Francesca Michielin (129 points) round up the top five.
Not far from Italy is Spain’s Barei with 127 points.
Spain is followed by Austria, Latvia, Ukraine and Hungary. Fourteen countries still have zero points, with seven clubs left to reveal.

@Azotman
How on earth is it possible that the only reason Ireland gave Australia 12 points is because their song is in English? Almosy every song is in English??!
As much as I like Russia and France, they have run a very good PR campaign over the last month or so visiting countries and parties shoring up there votes. No doubt they are nice Guys and thy will do well, but when the proper voting comes in they are in for a shock. France stage show will have to improve to be where he is and Russia is an outdated cheesy song, some will like cheesy but I hate it. I especially like Australia, it is the dark horse of the competition apparently the chorus has changed to have… Read more »
@cheesecake
Indeed! Bulgaria’s on the right track.
Interestingly, the bookies currently have these four in their top 4 as well, with Russia leading though and Bulgaria suddenly behind Australia.
@Nicky91
ok. no problem
@power.b
privet. kak u nas govoryat, pust pobedit silneishiy! 😉
Bonsoir Stockholm,
Lol at Ireland for 12 points to Australia because the song is in English
Lol at Croatia for 12 points to Macedonia because the song is in Macedonian
Lol at all countries giving 12 points to France because the song is also in French
People give 12 points to the song they like, because of the language, because of the neighbour, because of the country of origine, because of a woman with a barb, because the singer is good, the girl is pretty und so weiter…
Merci Zoë.
Salut,
Maxime
@Art
Privet! Im routing for Australia too, no esli chestno, to hochetsya pobedy 🙂
And as far as I am concerned France SHOULD remain on TOP … a song that speaks for itself and focus on whoever the songs is addressed to and not on “being the one, being me, myself and I” .. and does not require any “physical performance”.
Lol at Germany for 12 points to Austria because the song is in French…
oh wait

@Art
and if you’re russian could you also give Ira a vote 🙂
@Art
well i can agree Dami can hit the high notes better than Ira, but Ira can sing the lower notes better than Dami, and Ira has MPH for the high notes in her team
Ira is a kind and warm person, and Dami seems to me also a kind person 🙂
so i wish Dami good luck and i wish you good luck with your favourite 🙂
@power.b
I’m Russian. Last year my fav were Russia & Sweden.
But this year, with all big love to my country, I don’t like Sergey’s song.
And France. Sorry guys. This year my top3 are: Australia, Malta & Bulgaria.
But my fav is Dami, cause her vocal is much stronger than Ira & Poli.
So, good luck to all. I cross fingers for my fighter!
Somehow situation with ogae and youtube voters (1k over) reminds me of 2008 final results. 8 years later there’re again strong (might say – way more strong) most favourited contestants, all a bit similar as all have radiofriendly songs, and there again goes a lightened road for Russia to win because of both song and powerful diaspora. While you’re not a fan of Lazarev’s track but you do have songs like from Dami Im, Barei, Amir and so on in your top 3, there seem to be only one way to give a chance for them to win – vote… Read more »
Lol at France giving Austria douze points cause the song is in French!
@cookymonzta
Yes you’re right I also like Spain Italy and Croatia. I just don’t think they have the total package to win the contest. France and Russia are top at odds, wiwibloggs, ogae polls and every other poll around. Think it’s very hard to beat them.
@power.b
she has got one great team on her side, Molly as her backing singer powerhouse, the best backing vocalist you can wish for 🙂
and of course, let’s hope she’ll slay in may
@Nicky91
fingers crossed for Ira, hope she will slay at semis
@Art
maybe you’re right, Amir’s odds are drifting
@power.b
i agree, maybe one of the best songs this year, and don’t mind the OGAE votes, they are not real votes haha 🙂
Australia will blow Russia & France!!! Dami will WIN.
You’ll see, cause it’s THE ONLY ONE dark hourse this year )))
@Nicky91
it doesn’t change a fact its still a great song
@Lola: Beware Spain and Italy. Barei and Francesca make formidable insurgents, depending on what they put on stage to challenge the guys.
@power.b
and do you also agree with me that Malta is underrated?
And there it is.. Between France and Russia! We’re having a male winner this year. I like them both and voting for both of them. They’re in a class of their own. I also like Australia Bulgaria and Armenia – good songs but not the winners
@Colin
yeah for my opinion Malta deserves way more votes, and Netherlands deserves some votes as well, but not San Marino
and Slovenia is okay for me, a nice country song
Great results must say! In terms of competition Russia’s advantage is performance in semi final and that’s definitely securing extra points.
My country, Croatia, is currently 12’th in the OGAE poll (4’th in the semi), 4’th in the Wiwibloggs poll (1’st in the semi), 5’th in the Wiwi-jury rankings (3’rd in the semi) and 6’th in the accumulated You Tube votes of 1300 You-Tubers (3’rd in the semi). So, all indicators are here that this year we will pass the finals. Hope it’s right. 🙂
@Colin
I understand you, my phone sometimes kicks me out of the browser and it goes back to the home page! It’s so frustrating!
@Nicky91 – Yeah, finally some votes for Malta. But Malta having the same number of points as Slovenia, as well as San Marino having votes, while Netherlands not, sounds really off if you ask me.
@Previ
i agree with you, and they clearly show some ambitions with a pretty good backing singer in Molly and a well known creative director Stephane Boko, and fashion designer the same who designed outfits for Kylie Minogue, Lady GaGa and Prince
and i feel they are very underrated, but finally 6 points for them 🙂
My favorite, Estonia, is currently 18’th in OGAE voting (9’th of the semi), 20’th in the Wiwibloggs poll (9’th in the semi), 14’th in the Wiwi-jury ranking (7’th in the semi) and 12’th in the accumulated You Tube votes of 1300 You Tube voters (5’th in the semi). So, all indicators is that he will be a borderline qualifier. But, who knows.
finally first points for Malta 🙂
Gosh, sometimes I am SO annoyed by my cellphone, first randomly removing the keyboard while I’m writing and then posting an unfinished comment… so annoying.
Who says malta is overrated? Its clearly underrated here. That makes them a dark horse and will exceed everyones expectations
Austria does better than I had expected and I don’t understand why… I really like their song, but I didn’t expect them to do that well. I hope that the OGAE voting will not be similar to the actual results, because France, Italy and Russia are way too overrated!
My favorite, Estonia, is currently 18’th in OGAE voting, 20’th in the Wiwibloggs poll, 15’th in the
Malta gave NO POINTS to the UK. So much for historical point-giving patterns! 🙁
It’s good to see Austria’s Zoe doing better than expected.
Poor Hovi Star…
Are all OGAE members clones ?
Juan: If its not should be any politics in ESC. Take out Greece and Ukraine from ESC. Its politics lyrics. A vote for Russia, its a vote for Puttin
My country still has 0 points. And the top 3 are not even in my top 10 (I like them, but not in the top 10 for me). The opinions will change after the rehearsals anyway. So don’t worry if your country still is low on points.
@jpod: This is a song contest and entertainment. If you want to get politics involved or human right issues go to the UN or do something about it in an NGO. If Russia, whatever they do in their internal or external policies, is taking this song contest seriously (according to the rules of entertainment) they deserve to get all the points that they want.
I have a feeling that Austria is becoming a dark horse…. though Russia and France will battle out the victory.
Also Greece dont worth 0 points….
I will say again that the last year winner was Estonia (7th place in the final)
Very pleased to see my favourite doing so well in 7th place, for now. Vas-tu, Zoe! 😀
I think Montenegro hates Australia in the competition, they were one of the only ones to not give us points last year as well
France it’s a nice song but it’s not a big song people like the singer Amir.
Based on previous results I think the winner be either israel or italy I think russia is top 3
Last 12 years the winner always included in my top 5
This is my top 5 >>>>> israel ? italy ? russia ? ukraine ? Azerbaijan
Correction…Finnland gave 4 points to Croatia not Cyprus
