Following Salvador Sobral‘s landslide victory at Eurovision 2017, countless music critics and Eurovision fans have praised the Portuguese singer for avoiding clichés and singing from the heart. But not everyone is happy with the result or how it unfolded. On Tuesday Robin Bengtsson from Sweden criticised Salvador’s victory speech, which took aim at “fast food music”. And today another top 10 act is speaking against the Portuguese singer. Alex Florea from Romania claims that Salvador “used cheap theatrics” to win the contest and that the Portuguese act “didn’t have heart problems, but head issues.”
In an interview live-streamed through the web site of Romania’s main newspaper “Adevarul”, “Yodel It!” singers Ilinca and Alex Florea were asked to give their two cents about the winner. Alex’s acidic response has left many Romanian Eurofans aghast.
Speaking of the Portuguese team, he said:
They used marketing to win, as happens in our talent shows as well. His backstory worked and the public ate it up. But from my point of view, Salvador doesn’t have heart problems, but head issues. Everybody thought that Italy would win, but there was a big fuss in Kyiv about [Salvador Sobral] because he was mysterious, he didn’t give interviews, he didn’t take photos and he wouldn’t show up for rehearsals. The Bulgarian representative could also have used his story, as he doesn’t see well, but he didn’t. The Portuguese played a role, that’s what I felt. I saw him on many occasions and I didn’t believe he had [health] problems. On the other hand, his song is excellent and it’s been a while since something like this has been written. But I am annoyed by the cheap theatrics, that’s why I’m so cynical. A lot of people have problems. But don’t use this to win. If you want to win, use what you do professionally, your voice, your show. That’s winning! I’ve had problems myself in talent shows, but I’ve never resorted to cheap deceitful tactics in order to win.
Ilinca’s answer was more diplomatic, and she suggested Salvador was a true artist.
I would have seen Armenia’s representative higher [on the scoreboard]. Gurl has a perfect voice! I also loved Moldova! Congratulations, guys! A superb show! But also Bulgaria were amazing! I am happy with Portugal [winning]. What Salvador did could be considered art, so congratulations for succeeding! Croatia’s act was also very good.
Alex Florea’s statements have drawn mixed reaction, with many asking why he didn’t voice his opinion earlier. Still others have criticised Alex for claiming that Salvador had “head issues” — a most serious and unfortunate comment that won’t go down well with Salvador’s growing army of fans, including us, who appreciate his independent spirit and quirkiness.
Alex’s comments seem decidedly ungenerous. Portugal’s entrant did give interviews — you can watch our last interview with Salvador Sobral, one of three we have from Kyiv, below.
The “Amar Pelos Dois” singer did touch on his health issues both in interviews and in the press conferences, but he never brought these up, nor did he dwell on them. As has been explained countless times, it was his doctors who insisted he miss the first week of rehearsals, as they rightly put his health before a TV programme. If the commentators mentioned that Salvador had heart problems during the live broadcast, this can hardly be considered Salvador’s fault — that’s down to the individual commentators in each broadcasting nation.
Alex Florea’s opinions, which are clearly his own and don’t reflect on the Ilinca feat Alex Florea act as a whole, should be taken with a grain of salt.
Being in the Eurovision bubble for two weeks and running from rehearsals to interviews to parties makes it very difficult to focus and take in the ever-changing information on-the-ground. Perhaps the young Romanian singer was too busy to absorb all the facts that contributed to Portugal’s victory. Such as the simple song performed in an original manner by a truly gifted artist who has never used his voice to talk about his problems, but rather to raise awareness about more important social issues, like the tragic plight of refugees.
Hopefully, like Robin Bengtsson, Alex Florea will get the occasion to nuance his comments after realising that Salvador Sobral actually won fair and square, and that a 100% jury and televote victory, just like Ilinca and Alex’s win at Selectia Nationala, shouldn’t have been put into question.
Anyway, that’s what we think about Alex Florea’s comments on Salvador Sobral. What do you think? Has Alex Florea crossed a line with this comments? Let us know in the comments box below!
I have neutral attitude to Salvador but I am really happy that he won over Bulgarian cocky rabbit. This emotionally unstable kiddo said he was better than anyone, and he is realistic about it!!! (hahaha), then he burst out crying like 6 month old baby and he started to apologize whole Bulgaria for not winning hahaha. What a spoiled and insanely stupid kid with sick ambitions and HUUUGE EGO. He has also no respect for the contest, he said he would smash trophy in Moscow for views in case of winning. Stupid and cocky rabbit. He has minus IQ and… Read more »
So Salvador Sobral was playing “mysterious” for not showing up, namely in Eurovision after-parties…
Yes, he didn’t show up on those promotion events: he was busy jamming in a Kyiv jazz bar:

Hey! Thanks for sharing that. It is good to know that he did have fun in Kyev.
Withlovefromportugal – Dear bulgarian for ever i understand your issues after 500 years of Turkish rule, Fascism,Communism and Mafia state on our days theres not much of sefl respect left on you
You are a bankrupt country living out of EU mercy. Don’t speak.
i mean, Portugal is that bankrupt country living out from EU mercy, and Portugal thinks that they are better than Bulgaria or Ukraine…why…because Portugal has sun? Right now they must beg Germany for some coins to host esc 2017.
PORTUGAL 2018 will be next year
You are a pathetic fool, you can’t even keep your comments about the country straight .
Looks like Alex and Salvador were raised on same branch, one little less than other in politeness.
Wow 720 comments?! That’s almost as many as the points the Sobrals got. 😉
Thank you for deleting my last comment. I finally understand your moderation criteria.
I will not be bothering wiwiblogs again.
Hi Robyn. Was my last comment too long as well? Ooops sorry, if that was the case.
wouldn’t it be better to let people know how long comment they can leave, e.g. by using limited words option, rather than deleting their hard work.
Commentary can be extensive on some topics, especially on music reviews. Wiwibloggs is not Twitter (in terms of word count), so I understand why Azzzul was annoyed on this occasion.
The blog is at a critical juncture here in deciding what to do with handling its comments threads going forward. I wish Wiwibloggs the best of luck with trying to sort the issues out.
I’d reccomend some of you ask site developer to make hide/spoil buttons for long answer/answer threads and probably move writing panel upwards. It’s not easy on some Tabs to scroll down that much.
I had one more comment in here but. It was removed. It was a single sentence. It is not even a long one. Why was it removed?
ok. It was a few days ago and it was commenting Alex on GF performance being even more charasmatic than Ilica even though usually she is the star of the team.
It was really short reply to another comment. It is not that I really care for this one in particular but its not the first time seeing comments disappear.
Hi Rhingo. If your comment was a reply to someone’s comment who got deleted, your comment automatically gets deleted as well. I don’t know if this was the case, but this could explain it. Sorry about this.
Hi Robyn. I am wondering what happened to my comment?… Cheers
Hi L’oiseau. Like in Rhingo’s case, if your comment was a reply to someone’s comment who got deleted, your comment automatically gets deleted as well. I don’t know if this was the case, but this could explain it. Sorry about this.
Hi Bogdan. No, it wasn’t a reply. It was a comment about what could be the reasons behind Alex’s comments, trying to make sense of it all. But that’s ok, no problem. Cheers
What’s new? Every year is the same thing. People love to hate on each other, particularly when the other is successful. If he hadn’t win there would be no one saying ugly stuff about him, his song or Portugal. This only shows human spirit, be it european, american, asian, african, or oceanin. Let’s celebrate art! Music is art it’s no special effects on stage! It’s emotion and it’s feeling. And how beautiful are songs in one of the various beautiful european languages instead of mainstream english.
Spot on Diogo! Eurovision is about art and music and sour grape type of petty comments should be left at home. I really enjoyed the Romanian song, but it ruins the experience to see nasty comments by Alex.
I’ve read some comments from UK tabloids, from british people that are happy an western country will host. What ? An Western bankrupt country, where Madeleine McCann disappeared. Good luck.
Fascista xenofogo ruin
That girl parents should be in jail. She disappear because of them! People in Portugal don’t go dinning and leave their children behind them meters away in a room hotel! I wish more European people will get to know Graham Norton’s comments on the live Eurovision Contest on the BBC so more Europeans will despise you Brits even a little bit more than you despise the rest of Europe.
We don’t need people like you here. So I am glad you and the likes of you are not coming but will have to watch the show in one year time life from Portugal whether you like it or not. Deal with that.
Jesus, leave it alone. What kind of child do you have to be to criticize a country in its entirety, bringing up topics that don’t, in any way, refer to the matter at hand.
@Bogdan Honciuc : ….you need to become informed on disorders such as autism or Asperger’s syndrome (look them up). Just because someone behaves differently doesn’t mean that they are less worthy of praise when they deserve it. On the contrary! #celebratediversity Hopefully Alex will read this comment as well. PS: By the way I am not saying that Salvador is autistic or has Asperger’s syndrome. Not that it should matter. I respect your professionalism, that you write about everything regarding your country, but Salvador is just fine in interviews. He plays the ”special” artist only on stage, he is like… Read more »
Who cares? Sobral won … live with it
Alex, you’re lucky that you only criticized a Portuguese pride. Try doing that to a Filipino/Filipina pride, and you’ll see more than hundreds of nasty namecallings directed towards you. Just like what happened after the crowning of Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach as Miss Universe 2015, when some contestants didn’t congratulate Miss Philippines, and when Miss Germany says Miss Philippines didn’t deserve to win. Those Filipinos/Filipinas attacks Miss Germany and the contestants who didn’t congratulate Pia Wurtzbach. Those attacks can even be considered as cyberbullying in the West.
OMG so many comments, is this a record? I can’t read them all right now, first I will say my opinion. Salvador and Luisa are cheap soap-opera actors, everything about them is soap-opera. Kristian from Bulgaria is almost blind, but he was there without soap-opera, he could say … I can’t see, I need a dog to guide me, or a family member. These portuguese siblings are going to face their karma. Good for Robin and Alex for having courage to speak.
I agree. I don’t know much about Kristian but i can see that he is just a sweet boy. And Alex sees it too.
I respect him for not making his problems public.
He won NF when Portugal wanted Pedro Goncalves or Nova Gloria, he has played the mysterious tormented guy card, to start being noticed, then the refugees card, he tries to look like a lamb, when he said that if he doesn’t win he ”will fire his sister’s a s s”, his song is a revamp of 100… songs from 50 years ago, he is not what he seems to be. It’s ok I guess, Jamala had her ”personal story” card too. But don’t say that was about that stupid music, because was not about that, otherwise his song would’ve been… Read more »
You don’t know anything … you like Alex are just bad losers. We get you don’t like the music but you need to move on … let it go
Bulgaria perdio, portugal gano
LolLamar : First off, what scam you’re talking about? Salvador has health issues, that’s for sure. But he’s not the one who used it to gain his publicity, it’s the media. bulgaria forever agreed with Alex’s statement without even knowing the actual fact. Just look at the older comments. Some people have already explains about it, but some like bulgaria forever still insisted on spreading defamation against Salvador. Those kind of people are not going to get my respect. They deserved nasty comments. I don’t give a flying f**k about what others think about my rude behavior in the internet… Read more »

This Alex is so incoherent. He admits the song is pretty good and that is special but then cant admit that it won bc it is a masterpiece… he is such a bad looser..
Good or them for telling the truth as they see it .
“the truth as they say it” This is called ignorance. When you speak about things you have absolutely no idea. He has problems. He always carries a heart machine under his clothes and thats why they are so large. ALSO. Portugal didnt work on marketing. Our video in ESC youtube channel was the live performance in the national final and salvador’s personality would NEVER EVER EVER let the delegation use his health issues or make him sell his image like this. We win because of our diffrence, our emotional perfomance, and because of salvador’s character bc of the deep and… Read more »
With the old voting system Bulgaria would have the 5th ever highest score behind Portugal 2017, Norway 2009, Sweden 2012 and Sweden 2015 in that order, he was just unlucky that he was in a year with a song and a “person” like Portugal’s because he would have won almost any other year.? Imagen the negativity if any of those songs were beaten by Portugal and Salvador’s song … It is all normal.
It’s just one of those things.
Yohanna entering her song the same year as Alexander Rybak was probably the unluckiest. Pretty sure she would have won the two years before or the two years after without too much of a problem. Kristian did a great job and would have been a fantastic winning contestant and song. Salvador just caught the imagination and attention of people in a way not seen since the likes of Loreen and Rybak to be fair.
Salvador He said Sorry In Here! 🙂
https://youtu.be/SRuxmq5f0vs
I’m pretty sure the OP literally took my comment from Youtube and added ‘and a ‘person’ like’ to my comment and added the last sentence to it haha. It is word for word perfect to my comment.
Yes i did. Because you are right.
I decided to leave this blog. Even if I am only one of many members, I would like to explain why I decided to bow out of this blog. Wiwibloggs is a brilliant blog. As a Portuguese, my anticipation for the contest this year was especially great, as I knew how good our song is and yes, secretly I dreamed of a victory. Wiwibloggs has always kept me up to date. Thank you. But unfortunately, there are some members who poison this great blog. With nasty attacks below the belt, attacks against me and my countrymen. Members who report mean… Read more »
sorry adriana but this is not wiwiblogs fault…
@giorgio: Indeed not. However, it is Wiwibloggs’ responsibility to do something about it, or risk being shut down. A UK-based blog cannot legally be proliferating hate – that is not only distasteful; it is against the law. I sincerely hope that the Wiwi team can find a more efficient way to moderate their comments and material, before the switch is thrown. I don’t wish to see Wiwibloggs fall victim to haters, but on the other side, I also don’t wish to see a premier blog about Eurovision glorifying hatred – that itself would damage the reputation of the contest. He deserves all the criticism after his disgusting press conference interview.
And I’m talking about Salvador.
sometimes I share the same opinion about music industry and I can be really rude for the contestants, so I deserve more criticisms than him 😉
La difamacion es un delito
Disgusting press conference?? What was wrong with the press conference?
Just shut up and accept the fact the boy saved Eurovision. Some people…
Freedom of speech yeah!
But how come a man singing a yodeling nonsense full of gimmicks can genuinely comment on a piece of timeless art?
He said nothing bad about the song. “On the other hand, his song is excellent and it’s been a while since something like this has been written. But I am annoyed by the cheap theatrics, that’s why I’m so cynical”
Lol he didnt won, and then all rightfully goes to defend the Italian participant… such a saint… noooot. He is saying Salvador won because of the muci and that mistery ohhhhh… lol he is imagening to much. I only knew that Salvador had problems or didnt go to socialize with the others after the final, so my vote wasnt because of those BS of being difrent, I thaugh it was his maneirisms, and only cared about the song. Also his part of their duo was the worst part. And “He deserves all the criticism after his disgusting press conference interview.”… Read more »
omg disgustin?? what are you talking about? you are obviously a butthurt that felt disappointed with your country’s position… its so obvious… spreading hate like this with no base…
That’s so funny that the fans of Salvador accuse Alex to be disrespectful and at the same time are being disrespectful to Alex. Anyone can have opinion. Full stop. And I agree with Alex!
At least he’s not a fake person and he speaks his mind without giving a damn if someone criticizes him.
And I totally agree, it’s not a win if you rely on other things than what you came there to do.I don’t know how can someone sleep at night wondering ‘why did I won?It was because people really liked my song, or because they feel pity for me?’
You’re talking about the rap-yodel-ridiculous guy, right?
Salvador can sleep easy then, ’cause pity doesn’t get you far at Eurovision.
And36, here in the States that’s what people who supported our president said as well and we can see how well THAT’S going.
RuRu He has the right to say whatever he wants, it’s his beliefs. His problem is when it comes to make decisions that will truly have an impact on people’s lives.
You can think and say whatever you want. Obviously, it’s impossible to have the same opinion as everyone else. But you can’t stay silent or say other than what you think only because you are afraid of being judged and you want to please everyone. That shows if you have a fake personality or not.
I’d better take the criticism than being a fake person.
Alex, have you heard the new single from Salvador’s band?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdDK4GA5bCw
Have a good listen and enjoy. Maybe you can learn something more than just be stupid. Can we hear something from you? Or all you can do is bad rapping? Loser!
you are worse then anything that Alex has ever said! watch your language!
“Salvador Sobral used cheap theatrics” – says a man who yodels on a cannon…
I disliked YODEL IT with passion …… It was on par with LETO SVET which in my opinion is one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard.
And now ……. drum roll I dislike Alex as much as I dislike the song.
It’s a textbook example of a sore looser…..Look it up.
The Yodel sometimes I like, sometimes I cant hear it, but in ths song it was the best part for me, but the Alex part I have seen that so much and better by other artists. also I dint like the attitude of this Alex. I agree completly with you 😉
he is so snobby
I am a foreigner in Portugal.I find the peaple here are very respectful and kind.To accept someone’s victory also needs a great braveness because it represents your inner world, not everyone dares to that.Except why we dont want to realize the song was miracle, timeless, very calming-so far i have listened it 200 times or more.?
Those awful tricks by Italy and Estonia flopped with all the hypes. I’m so glad Portugal won the televotes. Romania is the reason why people outside Eurovision can’t take it seriously. You’d better come up with some real music but not this televotes-oriented tricks.
Don’t be stupid. Italy never did tricks, man. And i’m portuguese.
It’s the media that feeds all this speculation, and people buy it. He avoids talking about it, and no one really knows what kind of illness he has, because its a personal thing and he wants it to be just about the music. Right now one can only guess that he has some sort of limitating heart condition, and thats that. If he were to reveal it to be a really serious condition, can you imagine all the pity looks? He is the one living with it and having to deal with it… not being able to do stuff like… Read more »

This has to be THE most commented thing around here. LOL
On the topic tho, can we just now enjoy having in mind that next year ESC goes in LISBOA (hopefully they will use that instead of LISBON), in a warmer place and in a bigger arena? Thanks! 🙂
Alex, my friend, do you know what Salvador has more than you (other than the fact that he didn’t make a fool of himself in front of millions of people like you did with that stupid song of yours)??????
The answer is simple:
476 points! Ahahahahaha!
About good music and music with content on this year Eurovision ..
http://esctoday.com/148088/france-nazim-khaled-wins-eurostory-award-requiem/
A lesson for Salvador about good music, awarded lyrics combined with a good staging, modesty and professionalism .. Well done Alma, Nazim and France team.
It’s an award for sentences in the song. I don’t know why do you have to bring Salvador to the topic…
And did Salvador say that Requiem wasn’t good music?
Also, I think you missed the fact that the portuguese song also won 2 other awards at the Eurovision, for best composer and best artist.
Dear wiwibloggs, THANK you for such amazing article! I’ve followed your youtube channel everyday during and after Eurovision and although I am Portuguese and you may find me biased, I agree with every single word you said about Salvador and I thank you for your kindness. Before I say more, I want everyone to know that this was the very first time I voted in the Eurovision, meaning that I really enjoyed Salvador and Luísa’s song (I’m a Portuguese living in London). Regarding Alex’s statements, I was so shocked that I wrote the following Facebook page, which is my comment:… Read more »
You are welcome, Paula. We are just doing our job though, which is to cover Eurovision from all angles, not just the ones that are most convenient for the ESC artists or delegations.
Thank you for being a wiwibloggs reader.
Agreed with everything you sayed Paula And the point that you made was important, the fact he did not promote and also that he didnt have a cool music video like almost all the other contestants that create a hype based on a fabricated and calculated product. But what counted this year was the stage and their performances, “tricks” as many are saying, musics, and promotions fell flat on stage. I thought many of the musics didnt bring anything special. Alex Florea souldnt creticize something without knowing anything, Salvador is not like him, and he can do whatever he pleases,… Read more »
sick people should take care of their health and not participate in such a stressful and public event as Eurovision! empathy is good, but should not be used for collecting votes.
wow he’s brave enough to say that/
Dear Alex, here are some advices:
1) learn how to rap;
2) learn how to sing;
3) learn how to accept that others are so mach better than you
Bravo, Salvador, for creating so much noise around your fabulous victory!!
The more i read this hate comments the more i think Salvador speech was so on point. People talk about everything except music. Let’s bring music back to the discussion. Salvador won with a recod of points and with the most approbation possible, by topping both the jury and televote. Salvador and Luisa also won the Marcel Bezençon Awards for best composition and best artist. So if we talk about music Portugal is an amazing winner … the rest is just noise, gimmicks and sore loser speeches.
yup, music now is all about the names, participations, promotions, visuals, performances, lights, stages, choreography, how much was spent, catchy beats, … It was so, but so good to see a good song with a some nice and felt lyrics made from his sister
Viva Portugal
I hope next year Spain can have a better participation, I normaly like your musics, but this year what happened with the song selection?
I just don’t understand why people think his health problems were a major factor in his winning – most of the Eurovision audience on the saturday have not been keeping up to date with the contestants in the weeks leading up to the Grand Final. In fact, many of the viewers on the night are only exposed to them that very night, whilst the viewers who know the acts inside out make up only a small proportion of the viewing figures. I followed ESC2017 for weeks, I voted for the song and I certainly wasn’t being swayed by his health… Read more »
The stupidest part is some people say Salvador was disrespectful to Eurovision fans because of his comments about “fast-food music” — but then those same people disrespect Eurivision fans even more by implying the fans voted out of pity for the singer and not because they liked the performance and the music…
Alex the comments you made about Salvador to the Romanian press show clearly that you are a bad looser.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NePclovp2I
for all haters, who think salvador would stop at nothing to win. he probably was the only one of the participants who didn’t travel to kiev for the sake of victory. this was never his goal. he only wanted to touch the audience… deeply. so please shut up and stop with all the accusations. It’s really disgusting.
Yeah. While all the others attended after-parties (which are a way of promoting your act among the Eurovision click), Salvador was jamming in a jazz bar:

Sorry but I have to agree with Alex. Yeah, maybe his words were to harsh, but in essence he is right. Portugal is a weird winner. Can you imagine after 10 years someone remembering Portugal’s song? Like everyone knows other Eurovision winners classics like Waterloo, Wild Dances, Euphoria, Rise like a Phoenix or Heroes? It’s like Azerbaijan’s song from 2011, a good song but not a real winner. It won by gaining 6 and 7 points from most of the participating countries that year (only 3 x 12 points, 4 x 10 points and the rest…some 8, 7… Also, 12… Read more »
How can someone win because EBU wants them to win??? your comment is stupid! We had a eurovision party with more than 60 people, and had a voting going on… 58 people voted… guess how many had portugal as their no. 1? 53!! I do not think this was an arranged winner by the EBU… Please, get over it. The best song won. That yodelling/rap/rockìsh crap from Romania…Well, I don`t want to comment on it! Alex is a bad looser. So is Robin Bengtson. But, the swedes are always like that! They always think they will win.
No no one in Sweden – not even Robin thought he would win. I am grateful he ended up 5th.
I suppose the EBU forced millions of people to vote for Salvador then, right? What would the EBU have against Bulgaria hosting anyway? Please remember that Portugal received the highest score ever (it was even worked out that with the old system he would have broken Alexander Rybak’s result), so I think that Salvador won fair and square. I understand why people contested Jamala’s victory as she won neither the televote or jury vote, but this is not the case this year.
As long as drunk-dialing/drunk-texting an ex is a thing, Amar Pelos Dois will be remembered.
El comentario mas chorra que he leido. Y la difamacion es un delito como las injurias al honor, por lo tanto el sr alex florea es un delincuente
Ilinca liked the “robin benggtson” post on wiwibloggs’s Instagram and so did IMRI so I think more artists feel like this after his lame, egotistical speech
**Salvador’s speech that is
All of them recognized themselves in his speech.
Which is even sadder ….. cause Salvador didn’t name anyone in particular…….. It’s basically an issue of self-worth and not an issue with Salvador personally.
he said that his victory was “a victory for music that actually means something” as opposed to those other “fast food” songs winning. hmmm maybe if you string together some of his other comments on pop music and Eurovision you can put two and two together and not act like a complete idiot who pretends to not understand the english language to defend Salvador.
Yeah, I understand English and there is absolutely no need to call someone an idiot.
I just didn’t hear him drop names of individual artist.
They had to recognize their music as the fast food music he mentioned to have such a strong reaction.
If I though my music had any kind of meaning to begin with I wouldn’t even say anything after his speech.
They obviously are aware of the value of their TUNES to react the way they did.
Meanwhile, Salvador ignores all this and sings with one of the greatest musicians alive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ho1wbRI1GM
As we say in Portugal “Os cães ladram e a caravana passa” (the dogs bark, but the caravan goes on)
And what is the Portuguese equivalent of “do not defecate where you eat”?
Someone should say that to Sobral after his speech.
You go to a restaurant and they serve you horrible food, you tell something to the waiter, is it defecting where you eat? You are a teacher in a public school, the plan decided by the state is bad for the students, you complain, are you defecating where you eat? You live in a country that is slowly becoming a dictatorship, you go to protests, are you defecating where you eat?
There is another portuguese saying that I like: “vai pentear macacos!” (go comb monkeys!)
I think this circus has to stop.Portugal has won ,.My opinion is that the televote was fair, jury not so much ,we all know how corrupt jurrys are .Congratulations to Salvador and Portugal and please stop this chaos.People accept the winner and move on till next year.
No matter what, Portugal is, and will ever be a bad winner.
I don’t remember in previous years other artists sharing their bad opinions about a Eurovision winner THAT much.. And that says a lot. It’s undoubtful that Portugal used its marketing strategies to win this..
Don’t be ridiculous, there’s a thing called being a “sore loser”.
Don’t forget the vast majority voted for the Portuguese song, since they won both the jury and the televote. So no matter what, Portugal is and will ever be the country that won with a record of points and with the most approbation possible. People like you and this Romanian singer are the vast minority and are just sore losers.
Did Salvador have a story? Yes. Can stories help in having a good result in Eurovision? Yes again. Is this why he won? No. There were several stories this year, plenty of gimmicks too but they do not win the contest. Every TV show has stories, characters nowadays – X Factor, Voice of…, etc – to the point that a strong majority of people are already fed up with those and they are mostly disregarded when people vote. Alex maybe he entered too much in the villain character he created – with the bad boy attitude, the forced kiss, and… Read more »
Am I the only person who thinks that there’s something particularly sick about someone who tries to wind up someone who’s got a heart condition?
no.
No. Not at all. Bad losers. Probably they recognize themselves in the “disposable/fast food music”, that’s why it hurts.
And his family. Salvador may not manage his own social media, but Luisa can see that, their parents, grandparents, etc. It’s truly sick to do that to a family in those circumstances.
It’s becoming like Miss World.
I don’t really care what the artists have to say about anything outside of their songs and performance. If Salvador wants to make comments about other people’s music or Alex wants to comment on another contestant, that’s their business. I couldn’t care less.
At the end of the day, Salvador had a better song than Alex and won the contest. They can both say whatever they like…it won’t change that.
I feel bad for Ilinca. She is wonderful, beautiful, and gracious, yet she’s been tethered to a complete fool for the duration of Eurovision.
Maybe not for much longer. I’d consider her the front-runner for next year’s Selectia Nationala, as a solo artist.
This Portuguese here would love that!

Salvador singing in the streets of Barcelona.
That’s pretty sweet. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
This Alex is an idiot. Went back to watch the video of his performance, and freaking Jesus, I had forgotten how bad it is… The girl is great (and beautiful), though. Lots of love to all Romanians. Please don’t be embarrassed about him, there are jerks like that everywhere. We love you, congrats on the 7th place!

If you have props, you’d better make sure your props either…
…(1) add something to the song or are relevant to the song lyrics,
or…
…(2) are so extraordinary that the whole setup is impossible to forget, like Sergey’s, having brought his music video to the stage last year.
I must add one more thing: If your props are a representation of your culture (as was the case with Hungary), I have absolutely no problem with that.
Too bad, i had liked the Alex Florea’s song but his arguments about Salvador’s winning are very bitters. A bad loser. The first time i heard the Salvador’s song, i very loved it and I didn’t knew about his heart issues. So proud that the country of my ancestors won this contest for the very first time ! So, in my point of vue, the Croatia and the Azerbaidjan deserved their place on the Top 10 too. Alma was better than Blanche but that’s the game ! Come on boy (I’m talkin’ to Alex Florea even he don’t read this^^)… Read more »
