The Melodifestivalen semi-finals are over. Andra Chansen is on the horizon and in two weeks time, Sweden will have its act for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. And now all 28 entries have been released across digital platforms, including Swedish streaming platform Spotify, which today released the first updated Swedish chart since the Melodifestivalen songs were added.

Leading the tally are reality TV star and fashion blogger duo Samir & Viktor, whose dance track “Shuffla” has become the third most streamed song in Sweden, behind Post Malone and Drake.

The next highest Mello entry is Andra Chansen hopeful Felix Sandman, whose ballad “Every Single Day” rounds out the top five in the Sweden Top 50 Spotify Chart. Fellow Andra Chansen hopeful Mendéz follows in sixth, with semi-final one winner Benjamin Ingrosso in seventh and semi-final four winners Rolandz in tenth on the Spotify chart.

Semi-final two winner LIAMOO and Andra Chansen act Margaret both make the top 20. In total, 17 of this year’s 28 acts appeared on the top 50 this morning. All of the finalists feature and apart from Mimi Werner, every act from Andra Chansen has made the chart too. Elias Abbas is the only eliminated act to make the chart. His song “Mitt paradis” is in at 44.

FULL CHART POSITIONS OF MELODIFESTIVALEN 2018 ACTS ON THE SPOTIFY TOP 50

3. Samir & Viktor – “Shuffla”
5. Felix Sandman – “Every Single Day”
6. Méndez – “Everyday”
7. Benjamin Ingrosso – “Dance You Off”
10. Rolandz – “Fuldans”
13. LIAMOO – “Last Breath”
20. Margaret – “In My Cabana”
21. Mariette – “For You”
22. John Lundvik – “My Turn”
25. Sigrid Bernson – “Patrick Swayze”
29. Olivia Eliasson – “Never Learn”
32. Jessica Andersson – “Party Voice”
34. Moncho – “Cuba Libre”
39. Martin Almgren – “A Bitter Lullaby”
44. Elias Abbas – “Mitt paradis”
48. Renaida – “All the Feels”

Samir & Viktor’s strong performance should come as no surprise. Their Melodifestivalen 2016 entry “Bada Nakna” has clocked up 28.3 million streams. Felix Sandman’s performance also suggests he should be optimistic heading into his duel at Andra Chansen on Saturday night.

Things are less optimistic for pre-contest favourite Mariette, whose dance track “For You” sits outside the top 20 and behind three of the acts competing in Andra Chansen this Saturday.

The penultimate stage of Melodifestivalen 2018 takes place this weekend when eight acts duel it out at Andra Chansen in Kristianstad.

Are you excited Samir & Viktor are leading the pack? Does the Spotify chart offer clues to Melfest success? Let us know in the comments below!

I never thought I would say this, but I really think that S&V have one of the best songs (besides Felix). Besides, it would be cool for Sweden to send a song in their language for the first time in a while. I have been a fan of them for a couple of years now, so I’m anxious to see whether they do good in the final or if they’ll even win MF this year!!

I’m feeling like Rolandz is creeping up to the top. Sure they’re at number 10, but it’s the 5th place among MF’s acts. And consider a lot of teenagers listening to S&M, Felix, and Benj, that left Mendez and Rolandz dark horses. They’re not marketing as heavily as the other 3, yet still high on the chart.

It’d be fun to see Rolands win, and it’s possible because this year the countryside and older generations root for them. (But probably not the jury) Realistically, they’ll fall in the same situation with Hasse Andersson 2015.

Miss li – aqualung for Sweden 2018???, she’s the songwriter of Mariette’s ”don’t stop believing”. If bjork has done his job on time then he could’ve let her participate with that winner song. 1. Mariette 2. Felix 3. Renaida 4. Liamoo 5. Margaret Benjamin could actually participate at Mello again with a BETTER song, cause his staging has always been on point, so now work on the song (I mean it in a positive way, cause I want him to do well but not with an average song). Samir and Viktor will do alot better this year with the juries(+televote),… Read more »

I’d like to see S&V at Eurovision but we all know the juries will kill them. I’m 99% sure Benjamin is gonna win. the juries loved him last year and this year he has a better song and staging and also his heart performance was the longest among all acts so he’s gonna do very well both among the juries and televote, tbh I can’t see a scenario where he does not win.

It’s no surprise. They have a huge fanbase of mostly teens and young girls. And they have the most catchiest song. But Spotify success doesnt mean actual sucess. I find it very unlikely they could win the televote. Or the MF. It’s not impossible but unlikely They are still to niche to impress an audience beyond the fanbase.

They and Benjamin are my two choices for representing Sweden! Shuffla is such a bop! We need a bop now!!!! Benjamin’s staging is epic so it’s another choice for me.

Samir & Viktor aren’t the best singers, but i think that even the song is closer to rap than singing. So you just have to perform it with energy:))

Please, send Shuffla to Eurovision. Eurovision is becoming boring this year, we need a song like Shuffla!

so that Benjamin guy can sing and those two can’t? Yeah, right.. Mariette is best singer among all of them… I would like to see S&V on ESC and don’t understand why are they so underrated.

But we need the juries to vote for them and not that helium addicted Benjamin guy.

Benjamin’s song showed up too late on Spotify.
Unlike the entries by the label Warner Music Sweden, like Samir & Viktor, Mariette, Liamoo. They were uploaded to Spotify earlier.

My favourite songs this year are Felix’s and Mimi’s songs, so I’m not that thrilled to see them battle it out on Saturday. With that being said, Sweden’s best chances lie in Felix and Benjamin. So if Felix makes it through his battle (who, let’s be honest, he 99% will) it’s gonna be a race between those 2. I can’t see the international juries get behind any other song on this final, but these 2.

I think Benjamin is our best choice. The song has been growing on me. Very modern and slick compared to shouting divas that get hyped by fans. Something that the contest needs to bring it forward. But of course it’s the performance and staging that will make it stand out from the rest. And Sweden is good at bringing something that hasn’t been done before. And at those times we usually make a good result.

I agree completely. Samir and Viktor are by far the most entertaining and catchiest act in this bunch, although I have my doubts about their result after the jury has voted. I liked Bada Nakna already – not only because of the performance, also the song 🙂 – and that didn’t stand a chance with the juries. Felix Sandman is better than most acts already in the final, but I somehow dislike how he moves his arms during the song – a bit too much drama for my taste. Benjamin Ingrosso is grossly overrated – as always – and I… Read more »

Felix is by far my first. One of the few well written, emotional songs in the contest. It’s like Sweden has a fear of anything emotional or dark. My seconds would be Mariette or Liamoo. Benjamin would be my third place (although I think he’s gonna win). PLEASE don’t send Shuffla.

S&V is far more enjoyable and televote-friendly than most of the others, so it’s not surprising they’re doing so well on the charts! However, we all know that international juries will push them down, like other Swedish language acts (Jon Henrik being the exception). Wouldn’t be surprised to see them lead the televote in the Melfest final! For once in some time, I’d like to see Sweden send an enjoyable non-English act!

28 acts and not a single song that deserves my attention this season. Sweden should just send Samir & Viktor so they can stay in the semis again. Sorry, but this is the worst MF I can remember.

(I should have seen it coming, considering that last year I only liked three of the 28 and the quality is sure to keep on decreasing until telenovela Björkman is kicked out for good).

I really like Shuffla, but these guys are not the best performers for sure. Even with pre-recorded backing vocals you can hear them struggling and I don’t know what it would sound like if they had to perform it with 100% live vocals.

S&V and Felix are good.
Mariette makes me laugh when she points fingers saying ”for you, for you, for you”.
Benjamin is not my favorite, his performance is all staging, I guess he has led screen and led floor, something impossible in Lisbon, unless Sweden will bring its own leds. If international jury will vote for Benjamin it can be a shade on purpose.

Benjamin is dancing in front of a 7×2 m large wall made from flourescent lamps. It will be transported to Lisbon in case he wins. (Just like, for instance, the treadmills last year.)

The main problem is that you don’t see he’s in the arena until the end and it’s like 3 seconds xd (Måns did it in the chorus and it was longer) and we know TV broadcasters and EBU love to show their arena and the audience.
I guess they will adapt it, change some shots and that’s it but it won’t be exactly the same as melfest.

YES I’m actually freaking out a bit about this. You really can’t have the TV audience sitting there for 2 minutes wondering what the heck is going on. So you need to somehow establish clearly his presence on stage, but that sort of ruins the impact.
While Melfest can take more liberties when it comes to over-producing particular entries, Eurovision should always feel like a live show.

My only concern for them winning is what to do with their performance on the Eurovision stage, as they’d have to adhere to the senseless constraints there. We’ve of course had this problem of having to downgrade performances several times before but this is really pushing it. An audio-visual flop in Lissabon might sulk the memory of what is otherwise an instant MelFest classic.
On the other hand, Saade did just fine despite his vocal shortcomings, and I’m certain most people would love for us to for once send something spontaneous and rough around the edges (relatively speaking).

As much as I don’t like the EBU, I think the six-person rule is there for good reason. I’d hate for every other three minute performance to be overcrowded with dozens of dancers. Seems like an incentive to send even sloppier songs to the Eurvision SONG Contest.

I don’t know, I think I would really like it if they allowed for +2 people who are not allowed to be right on stage but act as backing vocalists.

Ah, that’d be a good compromise I think. As it is now, few countries seem willing to risk the trade-off vocally when sending a highly coreographed number. (God bless Moldova.)

Yeah, I hope the juries would be down with Shuffla, because except for Felix Sandman’s song it’s Sweden’s best choice. Didn’t think I’d be saying that but Sweden really dropped the ball this year with most of the selected acts. Shuffla is outright good though. It’s enjoyable, well-written, and catchy, though not the most original. (Hello LMFAO…)
