Poll results: Sergey Lazarev’s “Scream” is your favourite Eurovision 2019 entry by a returning artist

For some artists the appeal of Eurovision just never fades. Each year we get a number of acts who have previously competed at the competition and who want another go at climbing to the top of the leaderboard.

This year, five singers have decided to return to the contest: Russia’s Sergey Lazarev, Hungary’s Joci Pápai, North Macedonia’s Tamara Todevska, Serbia’s Nevena Božović, and Serhat, the Turkish singer who returns to sing for San Marino.

We asked you to vote for which of their Eurovision 2019 entries was your favourite. And now, after counting a total of 4,217 votes, we can reveal that “Scream” by Sergey Lazarev came out as your winner. The Russian star earned 1,209 votes, or 28.67% of all those cast.

Following in second place was Serhat. His song “Say Na Na Na” earned 987 of your votes, which is 23.41%. It seems plenty of you are ready to say na na na along with the Turkish singer in May.

Bang in the middle of the pack is Hungary’s Joci Pápai. “Az én apám” manged to gain 769 votes (18.24%), putting the singer in third place overall.

It was a tight battle between fourth and fifth position, with only two votes separating them. In the end it was Nevena Božović who finished in the penultimate spot. Her entry “Kruna” received 627 votes (14.87%). Meanwhile Tamara Todevska’s “Proud” picked up 625 votes (14.81%).

However, we also asked you to vote in separate polls to determine whether you preferred each artist’s current Eurovision 2019 entry, or their previous effort.

Each of these was won in a landslide.

Sergey Lazarev

Sergey Lazarev might have come out on top in the overall poll, but it’s clear that you still prefer his 2016 song “You Are The Only One”. After receiving a total of 3,457 votes, we can reveal that his original Eurovision song picked up 73.59% of those (2,544 votes to be precise). Meanwhile, “Scream” earned a 26.41% share, which equates to 913 votes.

Serhat

However, it’s a different story for San Marino’s Serhat. 3,130 of you voted in this poll, which has the widest margin of them all. 2,676 votes (85.5%) went to his Eurovision 2019 song “Say Na Na Na”, while only 454 people (14.5%) opted for his previous entry “I Didn’t Know”. Now this is what you call a glow up!

Joci Pápai

Over in Hungary, and y’all aren’t feeling Joci’s newest Eurovision song as much as his 2017 entry. “Origo” came out on top with 2,440 votes (77.63%). Only 703 votes (22.37%) went to “Az én apám”. A total of 3,143 votes were cast in this particular poll.

Nevena Božović

The battle between Nevena’s two Eurovision songs was the closest (although still not particularly close). 2,784 of you voted, and decided that 2019 entry “Kruna” was your favourite. The Serbian singer’s latest entry picked up 1,909 votes (68.57%). Her 2013 song “Ljubav je svuda”, as a part of Moje 3, earned 875 votes (31.43%).

Tamara Todevska

It’s fair to say that Tamara’s two Eurovision entries are vastly different in style. And it seems y’all prefer her 2019 female empowerment ballad “Proud”. Her current song for Tel Aviv earned 77.2% of your votes, or 2,025 precisely (out of a total of 2,623). The 2008 pop track “Let Me Love You”, which the North Macedonian singer performed with Rade Vrchakovski and Adrian Gaxha, picked up 598 votes (22.8%).
