He designed Madonna’s conical bra and dressed Madame Monsieur last year in Lisbon.

And now Jean Paul Gaultier has his next appointment: Dressing Madonna and Dana International for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019.

Israeli outlet Haaretz reports the star will fly in ahead of Semi-Final 1 and stay until after the Grand Final.

Designing for Dana International

Gaultier previously dressed Dana International for Eurovision 1998. She wore the Gaultier look – a black evening gown paired with vibrant parrot feathers – for her winner’s reprise of “Diva”.

“I’m as just as excited as I was the first time,” the “Ding Dong” hitmaker tells Haaretz, “It’s just like that time, 21 years ago, when I didn’t believe that he had really agreed to sew an outfit for me.”

The plume look has since been exhibited around the world, including travel as part of the iconic “The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk” exhibition.

Gaultier also produced the dress International wore to perform “Ding Dong” at Eurovision 2011.

Jean Paul Gaultier to design Madonna’s dress at Eurovision

The French designer first became associated with Madonna in the 1990s during her Blonde Ambition tour.

He also has a long association with Eurovision.

As well as dressing French divas Amina and Anggun, he’s also dressed Eurovision host Petra Mede, Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst and Greek Eurovision 2006 act Anna Vissi.

He most recently dressed French act Madame Monsieur for their performance of “Mercy” at Eurovision 2018.

How the dresses will look on stage remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: The looks will make an impact.

Dana International is set to performance twice in Eurovision week: During Semi-Final 1 and the Grand Final. On both occasions she will be dressed by Gaultier.

This is funny, Madonna has not confirmed her performance in Eurovision, yet it is confirmed that he will create her outfit? I call it BS 🙂 Madonna will work with the people she’s closely working with for her new era Madame X.

Last year, Madame Monsieur would have been better off without him.

I know it’s out of the topic but Bilal Hassani just announced on a french radio (RTL) that he was repeating between 6 and 7 jours a day, but he thinks that he is not effective enough (he is very perfectionnist). His staging will be very very ambitions according to him, a world-premiere never seen at the TV.

Which would coincide with the rumour from last month saying that it would the most expensive french staging ever. Finally a good staging from ly country ? I hope so.

An expensive staging does not guarantee a victory or a good place. it’s a combination of many things. However, this is hopeful.

Of course, but with our new Head of Delegation (Steven Clerima) and his work on the Angélina’ staging at the JESC 2019, I finally want to be confident for us. He already said, when Bilal won, that he wanted to make the staging his focus for this year.

Stop about Bilal’s voice, he sing his song perfectly now, and is not because the song is dreadfull for you, that is it for others !! why peoples always think their opinion is the only truth ?…
I’m very confident in our delegtion and in Bilal to give France a top 10, even better maybe this year.
Can’t wait for his first rehearsal, to see his staging and finaly listen the revamp of “Roi”.
