The Masked Singer Australia is continuing and fans are continuing to speculate which stars are behind the colourful costumes. Last week viewers wondered if Kate Miller-Heidke was behind the Queen, but now another Australian Eurovision star is at the centre of fan theories. Some reckon Isaiah Firebrace is the singer beneath the Wizard costume?

This week the Wizard performed Gotye’s international hit “Somebody I Used to Know”. While swishing his wizardly robes, the Wizard showed off his vocal chops. He’s someone with an expressive voice who can handle R&B-style vocals. And it has fans thinking the Wizard might be Australia’s Eurovision 2017 singer Isaiah.

More hints to the Wizard’s identity are offered in his clue video. There’s a reference to Murrays – tennis player Andy Murray, comedy legend Bill Murray and the Wizard stepping into place as Murray the Red Wiggle. Fans are picking this as a reference to the Murray River, a major Australian waterway. Isaiah grew up in a town on the banks of the Murray — something even mentioned in his official biography.

The Wizard also says that his “greatest success is not in the land of my birth”, while accompanied by a snowy, European-looking landscape. Could this be a reference to Isaiah’s chart success in Sweden, where his debut single “It’s Gotta Be You” was more successful than in Australia?

And then there’s the kicker. The Wizard says that “nothing of value comes easy”. Oh yes, it don’t come easy and it don’t come cheap!

But other fans are thinking the Wizard might be High School Musical star Zac Efron. The American star is reportedly in Australia at the moment. Another suggestion is Guy Sebastian — though we’re pretty sure he would have been too busy with his The Voice Australia work to also film a show on a rival network.

The Queen hits high notes and gives more hints

Meanwhile, Queen — who fans are pretty sure is Kate Miller-Heidke — gave another regal performance. She covered The Rolling Stone’s “Paint It Black”, but with a dramatic interpretation. Queen also showed off her operatic vocal talents, reaching some truly high notes.

In Queen’s clue video, she was surrounded by people wearing beards and made a reference to being “naughty”. This is possibly a reference to her cheeky song “I’m Growing a Beard Downstairs for Christmas”, performed with the comedy rock group The Beards.

Queen also referred to being “piggy in the middle”, possibly a reference to the “Zero Gravity” staging, where Kate Miller-Heidke was surrounded by backing singers on either side.

So far four acts have been eliminated from the series and eight remain. The Queen and the Wizard are up against the Bushranger, the Cactus, the Dragonfly, the Frillneck, the Kitten and the Puppet.

Samanta Tīna joins the upcoming Masked Singer Latvia

In other Masked Singer news, Latvia’s Eurovision 2021 star Samanta Tīna has been confirmed as one of the celebrity panel on the upcoming Latvian version of the popular series. Her job will be to try to uncover the identity of the masked performers — who perhaps will include some Latvian Eurovision stars.

Samanta told media, “This is a new and unprecedented show in the history of Latvia, and I am sure that the audience on the other side of the screens will have as much excitement as the detective team.”

Balss maskā debuts on 13 September, giving Samanta something to do before Eurovision duties behind later in the season.

What do you think? Is Isaiah behind the Wizard costume? Can the Wizard or the Queen win the series? Who would you like to see singing on the Latvian version? Tell us your thoughts below!
