With an automatic spot in the grand final, the Big Five always have a lot to prove at Eurovision. Germany, Italy, France, Spain, and the United Kingdom are all hoping to climb the scoreboard, but ultimately one of them will perform the best.
A month ago, we asked you to pick your favourites from this select group of countries.
There was a total of 7,252 votes cast in our poll. After verifying the results, we’re now ready to reveal the standings.
Italy’s Angelina Mango is a favourite of the Big Five at Eurovision 2024
The top spot goes to Italy. Angelina Mango has garnered a lot of support for her riveting bop “La noia”, and that shows in this poll as well. The star received over one third of all the votes, totting up 2,827. Italy are the most successful of the Big Five at modern Eurovision, consistently ranking in the top ten. It seems like another strong result could well be on the cards this year.
Second place is awarded to Slimane from France. He was the first 2024 artist to reveal their song, all the way back in November last year. But many haven’t tired of hearing Slimane’s rich and emotional ballad. “Mon amour” received 1,648 votes, which is 22.72% of the total.
Bronze goes to Olly Alexander. Known for his previous work with Years & Years, the British hitmaker is achieving a lifelong dream by participating at Eurovision. He’s got many fans going “Dizzy” with his pop offering. But they managed to hold still for just a moment to send him 1,366 votes (18.84%).
Spain’s Nebulossa finish in fourth, whilst Germany’s ISAAK takes fifth.

Angelina Mango’s song is layered, a bit quirky and well performed. It could finish second with the juries and third with the public and end up winning. Having said that Annalisa’s Sinceramente in the qualifying was a stronger song in my opinion. Dizzy is a good song- deserves to do well but probably doesn’t have quite enough to make it stand out. This is big time Italy bias. If San Marino sent the same artist and song, it would be at the bottom of everyone’s lists.
Last year, in the Big 5 poll here, Italy was LAST, do you remember that? And it wasn’t even in the top 10 in the odds.
Due Vite was either hated or ignored by everyone in the ESC bubble only last year.

I think you are living in a parallel world. Marco last year was ranked as the best ballad and of the Big 5 it was in the top 3. In the bets I seem to remember that Italy was in the top 6

Due Vite wasn’t very popular at all last year, everyone was saying that it was boring. In 23rd April 2023, it was 11th in the odds.
The song this year has more fans because it’s a woman singing an ubpeat song unlike the 2022 and 2023 entries
We are not talking about Wiwi favorites, we are talking about favorites in the global bets and Italy was 1st by far in the top 5 bets and 4th in the global bets. As I said Italy is always overrated

Italy in my opinion is the most overrated country every year. They can send a piece of poop wrapped in wrapping paper and the vast majority of the fandom will think it’s wonderful.

Yes, Angelina Mango is clearly a terrible singer, worst vocals ever and the song is just boring and generic AF. Oh, and she has 0 charisma and stage presence. Dreadful really! ??
I haven’t said that Angelina is a great singer, I just say that Italy is the most overrated country every year. We have the example of Armenia, a traditional song too but underrated. If Italy’s song had been submitted by Armenia (or any other country) that song wouldn’t be so high in the odds. That’s just my opinion of course.

I’m not Italian, not particularly fan the country whether we’re talking Eurovision or in general (almost died out of boredom last year with Due vite tbh) but if there’s one thing I can’t deny: Italy brings quality to the contest almost every damn year. What’s funny about Italians is that they pretend not to care about ESC but they lose their sh*t every time someone says their country is overrated at the contest

in 13 May (the day of the final), it was still 8th.
It only went up to 5th during the final.
In the Eurovision Scoreboard 2023 it’s still 12th, with France 5th, Spain 8th, and UK 11th. Many Youtubers who do the rankings don’t even put it in the top 30.
I know you won’t change your opinion, but saying that Italian songs are popular every year is simply not true.
Anyone can check the 2023 bets on this same website and see that my comment is correct. Italy 1st in the Big 5 and 4th in global betting. Saying that Italy is overrated every year does not have to be an offensive comment if the person does not feel addressed. Not wanting to admit that reality is not understood

I think this is the second comment I’ve made about this. I think the toxic Italian fandom always shows how impartial it is. Eurovision is not about flags and nationalisms ESC is a song contest for the other thing we already have soccer.

Well, it’s only their fault. The quality of the German selections is poorer and poorer every year. There is a total desinteressment among German artists to take part in Eurovision, while also there is no interest from the German TV to attract big names, so they found themselves in a kind of vicious circle. It’s a pity that the biggest nation participating in Eurovision presents such an attitude. Take a look at how the Eurojury voted on eurovoix.com. Almost every national jury there put Germany in their top 10.
I would say that they didn’t deserve the last place in Liverpool but jeez this year they really are searching for it. If they really wanted to do well in Malmö then they would have send Ryk.
If they send the same song each year, they’re going to get the same position each year. Honourable mention for ‘Black Smoke’ and ‘Blood and Glitter’ both were in tough years but deserved better. Germany really can afford to do much, much better. I honestly think they’re afraid of looking too good.
It’s kinda their fault, I get that they don’t wanna win but to be this pitiful I’d rather them pulling out for a while, it’s just so sad at this point.
