It wouldn’t be Junior Eurovision without Malta, who have consistently taken part in the contest over the last two decades. The honour of representing the island nation this year goes to Eliza Borg. She’ll sing the ballad “I Believe” in Tbilisi on 13 December.

After returning to the top five last year, courtesy of Ramires Sciberras, Malta will be hoping to keep a good thing going in 2025.

Malta in Junior Eurovision 2025: Eliza Borg with “I Believe”

Eliza took up singing two years ago. She quickly fell in love with the artform and began competing in local and international music competitions.

Her biggest competition so far came earlier this year, when she entered The Voice Kids Malta. Eliza joined Team Destiny, led by the Eurovision 2021 icon. This partnership proved highly successful, as Eliza went on to win the season and as a result earned the opportunity to represent Malta at Junior Eurovision.

Outside of singing, Eliza also enjoys dancing and using movement to give her performances an extra layer.

What do the “I Believe” lyrics mean?

Eliza begins by singing in third person, telling the tale of a girl who is struggling to find her path in life. The journey that lies ahead seems so vast and so unknown that this individual is finding it hard to comprehend.

She lies awake wondering
Thinking about who she could be
And for a second she can hardly breathe
The thoughts in her head
They scare her sometimes
It rumbles like thunder

However, the girl’s thoughts begin to grow brighter and clearer. Rather than her wishes being something to fear, she realises they are the guiding stars that will help push her forward if she chooses to chase them.

Eventually, she decides to let her light be seen by all.

Then the words they change
She sees flashing lights
And all of her dreams
They come to life
Now she no longer wants to hide

The second half of the song switches to first person. Eliza takes on the message of her story and applies it to her own life.

The young singer knows that, by believing in her dreams, she is able to shine to her fullest potential — just like she’s doing at Junior Eurovision. It’s an experience that Eliza will have life-long memories about.

I believe
And I don’t want
No I don’t want
I don’t want this moment to end

“I Believe” lyrics — Eliza Borg (Malta JESC 2025)

Lyircs: Destiny Chukunyere / Matt Muxu Mercieca
Music: Elton Zarb

Late in the night when the world’s asleep
She lies awake wondering
Thinking about who she could be
And for a second she can hardly breathe

The thoughts in her head
They scare her sometimes
It rumbles like thunder
She’ll search for the light
But she can’t seem to get them off her mind
Then the words they change
She sees flashing lights
And all of her dreams
They come to life
Now she no longer wants to hide

Wish this moment lasts forever
Take a picture to remember
To believe
To believe
Written in the stars forever
Frozen like a cold December
So I believe
I believe
And I don’t want
No I don’t want
I don’t want this moment to end

Then the words they change
I see flashing lights
And all of my dreams
They come to life
Now I no longer want to hide

Wish this moment lasts forever
Take a picture to remember
To believe
To believe
Written in the stars forever
Frozen like a cold December
So I believe
I believe
And I don’t want
No I don’t want
I don’t want this moment to end
