Pop band Edict announced its withdrawal from the Moldovan national selection, despite the fact that it reached the semi-finals of O melodie pentru Europa 2015. In accordance with the TRM rules, the band was replaced by the act right under the live auditions cut, Anisoara Volinschi.
Edict had entered the song “Our Star” and was supposed to compete last in the first semi-final on 24 February.
No information is available regarding the reasons that made Edict withdraw. We hope our Wiwi Jury’s reviews didn’t play into it. After all, Robyn did say, “This is not a song that’s going to stick around.”
Update: The band’s manager, Valeriu Cataraga, told TRM that Edict started another project outside the country. “The decision belongs to us all. We consulted with one another and decided to withdraw so that the way is clear for this other project,” he said. He added that the international project is not related to Romania’s Selectia Nationala, but did not disclose any more information.
Anyhow, one band’s loss is another woman’s gain, and Anisoara Volinschi can count herself very lucky. She will perform her song “Vocea inimii” (Voice of the heart) in Edict’s stead in the first semifinal.
Better start rehearsing right now, because according to the live audition results she was obviously not among the jury’s favourites.
The semi-finals of Moldova’s national selection O melodie pentru Europa will take place on 24 and 26 February. The winning act will be chosen during the National Final on 28 February.
