On February 2, Norwegian broadcaster NRK presented us with the ten acts that will compete in tonight’s Melodi Grand Prix, the national selection for Norway at Eurovision 2016. We asked you, dear readers, who should win Melodi Grand Prix and go on to represent the land of fjords at Eurovision 2016. After counting 1,232 votes, we have the results!
The blonde bombshell known as Laila Samuels came out on top with her song “Afterglow”. She was a hit with our Wiwi Jury, also taking first place with our in-house panel of musical unprofessionals. One juror wrote:
I love this song. It’s not the best I’ve heard from Norway, but it sure is my favourite this year. It has all the elements of a good Norwegian song: an enchanting singer, a little bit of mystery, a bit of Scandinavian melancholia. I’m putting this on my playlist right now.

I’d be happy with Laila , Laika, Agnete or Freddy. But Afterglow is my absolute favorite. please Norway!!
This is NF I’m most lookin’ forward to, only because of Laila. I SOOOO hope that she’ll represent Norway, her song is pure magic! Like I haven’t been this nervous for my favourite at NF in a long time 😀 GO LAILA GOOOO
and if not her, GO LAIKA
Anna Lee for the win
What? No way! Laika for the win!
Come on, Norway! Repeat after me:
The streets of Moscow
with my girlfriend.
The streets of Moscow
with my girlfriend.
Not another snoozefest from Norway, 2014 and 2015 were more than enough. Would be fun to see Freddy Kalas at Eurovision!
To me, thinking of Norway at ESC will always mean Margaret Berger and ‘Feed You My Love’. My favourite Norwegian entry ever, or I should say one of my favourite all time entry, period! So cool, so fabulous! It won’t be easy for Norway to equal that awesomeness, let alone surpass it, and keeping sending dreary ballads is not the way to even try! Well, there’s always next year!
I actually think, Laila could win Eurovision…
