ABBA

They’re perhaps Eurovision’s most iconic winners. And after 35 years of silence, ABBA are returning with new music.

That is according to their manager Görel Hanser. Speaking from Stockholm today, the group say “It was like time stood still and that we only had been away on a short holiday”.

The quartet add, “We all four felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the recording studio. So we did.”

New music in December

Two new songs are set to drop, one of which will be called “I Still Have Faith In You”. The track is expected to be performed on America’s NBC and Britain’s BBC in the month of December. Görel confirmed to Sweden’s Aftonbladet that both songs were recorded last summer.

Today’s news comes just after ABBA revealed that they will do a world tour. However, instead of the four members performing they will use virtual “Abbatars” or digital projections of the band.

This technology means that the group will appear exactly like they did during their peak in 1979. Thanks to advanced high-tech equipment audiences should think that they are seeing the real band on the stage. The world tour is planned for 2019 or 2020.

ABBA — consisting of Agnetha Fältskog (68), Björn Ulvaeus (73), Benny Andersson (71), and Anni-Frid Lyngstad (72) — is one of the most successful bands of all time. They sold over 400 million albums, but have not performed together publicly since 1986.

They made an exception in 2016 when they played at a private party.

They got their big break in 1974 when they won Eurovision for Sweden with “Waterloo”.

What do you think? Are you happy that ABBA are back? Or do you fear they might tarnish their musical legacy? Let us know in the comments below.

Looking forward to seeing what they muster up. Only Celine Dion could fight them for the title of most successful Eurovision winner.

Who are you to disrespect some of the world’s most successful artists? I’ve never heard of any Fug having a decade of number one hits or finding a cure for any major disease. What i do know that there is an internet troll using that name to diss people who deserve a lot more respect than he/she gives them. You are one of the examples why i hope William will change his website and makes sure that you cannot comment on this post without revealing your identity so you can be prosecuted for the slander you dare to sling onto… Read more »

As a respond to your question in the Artillerigatan ->.
As long as they do what they feel that they are proud and feel cofteble. That’s what is most importent. I have seen the film about Avici on SVTplay and begin to think about the similarites between him and Agneta. She didn’t want to tour eighter.

Feel free to do what make you happy, and stop fo thing’s other persons expect you to. You have only one life.
