She won X-Factor Malta as a ballad belter.

But today at Malta’s first rehearsal at Eurovision 2019 Michela completed her chameleon transformation into a dance diva.

Dressed down, with her hair in a bun, Michela proved that weeks of rehearsals have paid off.

This package looks slick and the technology here is turbocharged.

We switch between scenes of a desert, an aquatic wonderland, and a verdant jungle. That reflects the lyrics of the song and Michela’s versatility as an artist.

She traverses different environments from jungles to cityscapes and finishes in a vibrant burst of colour.

Some areas of the press quarter felt that the vocal was off in the first run and to be candid some of the camera shots went awry.

However, improvements were made every run, and Malta can tighten this up even further in their second rehearsal.

Me: …Just some white jeans and shirt? Why something so plain?

Me, two seconds later bombarded by the entire color wheel: OH…! :-O

It looks promising, probably the most colorful and youthful performance of the year. Not sure about the costumes, but I understand that the intention is to keep them simple since there’s a lot happening on the background. Considering her lack of experience in performances like these, I believe Michela was feeling quite comfortable on the rehearsal. Now she just needs to get more confident. She has all the reasons for it.

I don’t think (and hope) this will not be the outfits her and the dancers will wear. MIchela also has to free her hair.

I also hope that’s the case and I agree that she sould wear her hair down. Maybe the focus on the first rehearsal was on focusing on the projections and how do they look over light clothing.

It seems Blanche 2.0 is back. Catastrophic 1st rehearsals but will improve and finish top 5 at the end. Sergey is safe 🙂

Catastrophic rehearsal? She was perfect all the way through, from the very first rehearsal to the last performance in the final. What are you talking about?

To be honest she was the one I was the most afraid of to beat Sergey. Now I am kind sort of relieved.

I liked the staging on the verses, not so much on the choruses.
Her vocals were inconsistent. Sometimes, really good…sometimes, not so much. It’s been a bit overrated in the odds for some reason.

Not a fan of vocals but she will improve.

The performance echoes the music video, very colorful and modern. Malta will easily be top 10 in the final. Cyprus and Switzerland should worry.

Well Luca, aka Fuego 2.0 (even with the moves) cannot sing darling. She sounds great and the staging is RE-FRESH-ING!

Switzerland has a backing singer doing a good job. Here it seems that Destiny is not on point too. I’m surprised Malta choose a female as a back vocalist. It should have been a male vocalist to fit the studio version.

Switzerland’s staging is similar to Fuego last year. His vocals are weak live. Very disappointing

It seems that Malta mixed it up! Right now a lot is happening on stage, and I’m kinda worried if it’s not too much, but if they manage to not make the viewers confused during the performance, then I have good feelings about this! I also hope that the “music video” effect won’t alienate the watchers, as we already know how this could end.

She sounded very nervous at the very beginning. She can now only improve, you already felt it in the 3rd time of rehearsal.
