Estonia has chosen its Eurovision 2024 representative. On Saturday 17 February, ten acts competed in the final of Eesti Laul 2024 to determine who will follow Alika’s footsteps and build a bridge to Malmö in May.

Eesti Laul already held a semi-final in January, in which five artists qualified for the final. They joined five other artists who were given automatic qualification to the final.

The ten artists are set to perform in Tartu to fight for the golden ticket to Eurovision. In the end, 5miinust and Puuluup emerged victorious with the song “(Nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi”.

Eesti Laul 2024 grand final running order

  1. Brother Apollo – “Bad Boy”
  2. Carlos Ukareda – “Never Growing Up”
  3. Ewert and the Two Dragons – “Hold Me Now”
  4. Anet Vaikmaa – “Serotoniin”
  5. Ollie – “My Friend”

  • 5miinust and Puuluup – “(Nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi”

Superfinal results

5miinust and Puuluup were announced as the winners, finishing ahead of Ollie in second place and Nele-Liis Vaiksoo in third place.

only now do I realise, that the phrase “Vormis mehed külas” – men in uniform visiting / men in good shape visiting – can be heard several ways. “vormis” in estonian is both in uniform and in great physical shape

This is brilliant, it feels spontaneous, authentic and slightly chaotic, such a refreshing change to some rather sterile entries recently. Lots of energy and fun, I love how they’ve included a little dance routine. This will be sailing through to the grand final, great choice Estonia!

It’s weird. Let’s just get that out of the way. But that’s not a terrible thing to be here, I don’t think. This will certainly end up being memorable. Whether or not that is enough, we’ll just have to see. I’d also say it’s catchy, but I can also understand it not being for everyone. I think right now, it sits upper middle for me. I do appreciate the fact that it is in Estonian.

I don’t quite dig this honestly. And a show as a whole, it was pretty weak this year. Daniel Levy is the only one who captivated me, and I definitely want more faster songs at ESC. And he seems like a nice guy. I feel this is very likely a NQ.

A masterpiece. Combining effortlessly folklore, rap and upbeat techno, it has immaculate pacing, phenomenal melody and an iconic choreography, it’s performed by a group of six chaotic yet extremely talented and well-coordinated individuals on stage, the song itself brings BOTH the older and the younger generations together through the six members, making it accesible to everyone and also shares a strong message against doing any drugs in the funniest and most epic way possible. It’s a literal party anthem, it will CRUSH the Eurovision semi-final and enter the Grand Final as a favorite, while simultaneously making a huge leap in… Read more »

I did expect this song to win so I am fine with it. Yes, it’s disappointing to see Ollie runner up again, but do you know who’s been runner- up twice before winning the ticket to Eurovision? Dons from Latvia. He was a runner up twice before winning this year so it could be third time for Ollie.

I didn’t follow Eesti Laul this year, so I checked that Ollie guy song, and for me it’s pretty average. Estonia picked a really interesting entry this year. Maybe Ollie would be a safer choice but this one will IMO place higher overall in May.

Kui Oliver tahab veel kolmas kord proovida, peab ta oma muusika stiili muutma. Eestlased ei vali kunagi rockilaulu Eestit esindama, sest rocki fänne ei ole piisavalt.

Kats
Kats
Reply to  Susan
