Silvester Belt has just been elected as the Lithuanian representative in Malmö. He’s been celebrating with multiple interviews. We cannot get enough of “Luktelk” — obsessed is an understatement!
The Lithuanian national broadcaster LRT has just released the full breakdown of the voting that took place this Saturday. As we witnessed, Silvester Belt dominated the public vote. In the final’s first round he received 25,502 votes. With this vote alone, he already became the third highest televote-scoring finalist in the Lithuanian national Eurovision pre-selection since 2010. Shower came second with an impressive 15,783 votes, though still almost 10,000 votes behind Silvester. The Roop gathered almost 12,000 public messages and calls.
LRT has also updated the final’s second-round votes. There were multiple complaints from viewers about not receiving messages back for their vote. So much so that even the presenters, during the broadcast, had to address the viewers at home, saying that they were monitoring the activity, and that the systems were simply struggling to send all of the ‘Thank you for your vote’ messages. However, that was followed with the announcements that Silvester Belt had collected 16,688 votes, Shower received 9,066 and The Roop came third with 6,884. That was the score announced on the night. However, it appears more than 37,000 votes were received late because of the total volume that eventually arrived. LRT has announced that Silvester received a total of 34,691 votes, which is 18,003 extra public opinions, more than half of all Silvester’s votes received on Saturday. Shower added another 11,241 votes to their basket and The Roop got another 8,162 calls. This all means, that at the moment of the winner’s announcement, LRT had only counted roughly 47% of the second televote final round.
See the full breakdown of the televote in the second round in the illustration:
Žiūrovų balsai (eterio metu 23:36 – 23:54val.)) – Televote (during broadcast times)
Pavėlavę žiūrovų balsai (po eterio 23:54 – 00:37val.)) – Televote that was received late (during the first 43 minutes after the broadcast)
Iš viso balų – Total votes
We got the breakdown of the full jury vote, and it seems like the band Shower had a tight grip on the first spot. Receiving 12 points from a total of 8 jurors out of 11 who voted, they would have comfortably collected the jury’s 12 points in the old Pabandom iš Naujo system. This means Silvester Belt who would have received 12 points from televote, wouldn’t end up being a winner according to last year’s rules. We would have had the same situation as in Pabandom iš Naujo 2023, where the jury’s favorite Monika Linkytė went to Eurovision instead of Rūta Mur, the slightly higher televote receiver, who tied with Monika for the first spot, but using the Lithuanian broadcaster’s tie-break rule, we would have seen The Shower go to Sweden instead of heavy public’s favorite Silvester.
What do you think about the results? Are you happy Eurovizija.LT used televote to decide the winner or should have they sent the jury’s favorite The Shower? Let us know in the comments!
The televote-only superfinal was a great idea!
Shower was good but I couldn’t have stand another crime like the one commited against Ruta Mur. Luckily, Silvester ended up winning.
Simply put, shower’s song is awful
We changed the voting system, now we just need to change the way results are announced
LT result announcement be like:
In 3rd place are… The Roop!
Not even 2 seconds later: and the winner is SILVESTER BELT!
*results table flashes for a second and then disappears forever*
Is Sylvester still representing Lithuania?
Yes, despite the delay in votes, Silver was always ahead of the other contenders by quite a margin. During both rounds (final and superfinal), 142,191 votes were cast:
Yes he is.
Big shout out to Ruta Mur. What a song and performance. I agree it would have been a travesty if the same had happened to Silvester.
I don’t get all the hype for Shower, such a mid band with a boring song
Familiar name and connections perhaps?
No, they weren’t known in Lithuania at all. Just a random garage band. I think they resonated with people because of the frontman’s voice and effortless sounding English. It gave a sense of professionalism, like “these guys know what they’re doing, the world must see them”. The song being somewhat interesting and emotional also helped. We are known for sending mediocre entries that we actually thought were very original and “deep” – cough cough “Fusedmarc”. Jury still drooling over these type of entries every single year…
Well, Luktelk is anything but mediocre, in my opinion at least.
Yes, I was talking about Shower and some other questionable entries from the past that my country thought were “clever” and “original”.
Every single Lithuanian entry from 2020 onwards was consistently good without any slip-ups fortunately. I hope we keep it that way!
Thank god for the new voting system. We would have had a repeat of last year’s result. Imagine the meltdown the fandom would have had if the old system had been kept. Now let’s hope Silvester can get a great result to keep this new system for next year.
Imagine watching Silvester’s performance and deciding that it’s worth only 4 points
But then again I’m happy there is some diversity in opinions, that’s how it should be.
Thank god LRT got rid of that abysmal tie breaker system… jury doesn’t deserve to pick a representative when people have spoken… almost 60k votes combined for Silvester. I think that’s the second largest count in Lithuanian NF history. Overtaking even “On Fire”!
Shoutouts to the juror that really thought Kaboom was a 12 pointer
Someone phoned a friend…
Lithuanian jurors truly are out of touch. Imagine the reactions in the arena if Shower would’ve won…omg. I’m so glad they had the Superfinal
Shower were insanely good as well, they got 20k+ votes.
Correction: they got 36k+ votes.
I’m not saying they were bad. It’s just Silvester was light years ahead of everyone
No, not light years. But he’s the best for sure.
Obviously you didn’t hear the reaction in the arena for Shower, or the fact that it got as many televotes that it did, or the fact that it has a load of YT views or that juries thought it was the best song.
This national final was never the foregone conclusion that Eurofans, who never see beyond their one singular favourite, would have you believe.
THANK GOD they changed the system then! Moldova shouldn’t be using last year’s system that Lithuania had too! The televoters should have the final say if down to a tiebreaker as the song is representing them!
It is very nice, that LRT revamped from Pabandom is naujo. I can imagine what a drama it could be at the moment after Shower victory 😀 Best of luck Silverster!
Very intrigued with the one that gave 4 to Lutelk and the other points just randomly assigned. Rlly, even more points to rule the world? Sometimes it seems that the jury votes are so biased, with the older format we would have the snoooozville of Impossible.
Glad that they changed the format.
