Last Saturday, Icelanders voted an opera singer and a female footballer through to the final. Just when you thought Songvakeppnin 2014 couldn’t get any hotter, it’s time to reveal the five remaining songs competing for a spot in the finals.
As before, the songs for the second semi-final are all available for you to listen to on ruv.is.
Iceland may only have 320,000 people, but they produce some seriously diverse music. That diversity will be a strong aspect of this weekend’s semi. We will hear a power ballad á la Pastora Soler, a fancy little funk number, an uptempo Beyonce-Little Mix jam, a kindergarten punk melody with a lovely message and an Icelandic/Swedish fusion, written by Yohanna’s former agent.
Who do you think is most likely to make it to the finals? Does anyone stand out to you? And who doesn’t stand a chance?

I hope Sigríður Friðriksdóttir – Lífið kviknar á ný will win 🙂
Oh man, this semi is waaaaay better and more exciting than the last. Hope the winner who represents Iceland comes from this. Or perhaps whoever gets chosen in the wildcard. Love the girls & F.U.N.K
Von will win. But I would prefer the girls with acordeon, guitar and something else
Gudrun, hands down! She was robbed in 2006 with Andvaka, and TWICE in 2012 with Minningar and Aldrei Sleppir Mer. Even if Til Thin can’t quite compare to any of those entries it’s still a minor masterpiece imho!
To the final
1.Sigríður Friðriksdóttir – Lífið kviknar á ný
2.Guðbjörg Magnúsdóttir – Aðeins ætluð þér
Wildcart for final to
1. Ásdís María Viðarsdóttir – Amor
2. Vignir Snær Vigfússon – Elsku þú
My TOP 4
1.Sigríður Friðriksdóttir – Lífið kviknar á ný
2.Ásdís María Viðarsdóttir – Amor
3.Gissur Páll Gissurarson – Von
4.Guðbjörg Magnúsdóttir – Aðeins ætluð þér
4.
For me the wildcard should handsdown be “Amor”. That song got robbed and “Von” didn’t deserved its place at all.
1- “Til þín”
2- “Lífið kviknar á ný”
The others can’t even compare to those two.
Sigríður and Pollpunk should proceed. As for the wildcard,I hope it’ll go to someone from the semifinal 1.
Sigridur (did I spell it correctly?) is my choice.
A little bit of Beyonce (at first) and then “hello 50’s”.
Iceland, vote accordingly. 🙂
