In recent weeks he’s put his own unique swerve on the Eurovision songs “Heroes”, “L’essenziale” and “J’ai Cherché”. And today Nathan Trent ends his cover series giving a nod to the ladies, covering Albanian wonderwoman Elhaida Dani and her 2015 entry “I’m Alive”.

If there is one thing we’ve learned over the past month, it’s that Nathan pours himself into every performance. “I’m Alive” is no exception. This oozes soul and emotion to the point we thought he might break down in tears. Showing vulnerability is, of course, a strength and the result is strangely empowering.

Filmed in front of a bookshelf stocked with vinyl covers, the video has an intimate feel that sees Nathan singing into a vintage microphone as his guitarist strums to his side.

Nathan cuts a casual figure, wearing a brown bomber jacket and a military green shirt — a masculine look that balances the femininity of the original track.

A brilliant cover, Nathan slays yet again. Can we extend this cover series by a few weeks, please?

Rehearsals in Kyiv start in a few days, and in less than three weeks we’ll know the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.

Is Nathan your guy? Does he deserve the crown? And what do you think of his cover of “I’m Alive”? Let us know in the comments box below.

OMG! His version is so much better than Elhida’s. I’m sorry, I loved the song but she destroyed it live. Nathan does justice to this song by making you really focus on the beautiful lyrics and the inspiring message of the song.

Btw Nathan already confirmed his backing singers for eurovision, including Vincent Bueno who took part in WSFÖ 2016 (Austrian national final) and two other friends of Nathan (a couple). They will be joined by a 4th backing singer from Ukraine.

Outstanding singing. If only he could sing something like “I’m Alive” at the contest instead of the generic “Running On Air!” Ah, what might have been.
