Last month we learned about Tel Aviv’s plans to dock a 2,000-person cruise ship by the city’s seashore to help address a shortage of rooms in the city during Eurovision.
And now Y Net is reporting that the Israeli Tourism Ministry and the Tel Aviv municipality are considering yet another option: building a camp site for Eurovision fans!
The plan, which is in the initial stages of planning, involves designating an area of HaYarkon Park — Tel Aviv’s largest — for various types of tents and caravans for singles, couples and even families. This will also include a service area with showers, bathrooms, tourist information and even laundry facilities.
Park Hayarkon
This is one of the largest parks in the centre of the country and it runs from Tel Aviv port all the way to Ramat Gan, an eastern suburb of the city. It is bordered by Rokach Boulevard where the ICC is located, so it’s location is sure to attract a lot of visitors. The park also offers many attractions such as biking, a bird safari, mini golf and other sports.
As you can see in the pic at the top of this post, it’s rather lovely. Whether y’all can cope with spending two weeks in a camper van is another matter entirely.
Τhe Suburbs

Tel Aviv itself is the second largest city in Israel but if you add its suburbs then it easily becomes the largest city in the country both in size and population (with around four million citizens). The District of Tel Aviv is vast and it is also referred to as the “Gush Dan” area. Due to its size, about 5 or 6 cities only are considered part of Tel Aviv and are easily accessed from it, some of which are located close to the arena such as Ramat Gan and Herzliya.
Bat Yam and Jaffa could also be suitable for visitors who wish to be close to the Charles Clore Pare (with the latter forming an integral part of the city).
Tel Aviv has therefore invited its neighbours to join its efforts and to offer rooms for visitors in order to help with the shortage of rooms.

`Cmon people, not every shard of news is real. this is just a crazy idea that was suggested. no need to panic, no one is adventurous enough to accommodate tourists in vans.
Israel is a small country and you can rent a room in the nearby cities and travel to Tel-Aviv by bus/train. it takes 20 by bus to travel from Ramat-Gan or Giv’ataim to Tel-Aviv. no need to go crazy on this.
If you can’t find a room in Tel Aviv, Hertzliya is your next best choice.
Lots of hotels, right on the beach, two malls in the city, English-speakers all over, public transport is good, authentic Israeli experience, and only one stop away from the expo on the train.

Except Binyamina is pretty far up north from Tel Aviv compared to Herzliya, which is a short bus ride (10-30 mins on bus, depends where you are in the city) from the venue. Plus its much more inviting for tourists than Binyamina, being a rather big, touristy beach town (with better beaches than Tel Aviv’s in my opinion).

The weather in Israel is great in May. .. So you can stay outdoor 24/7 and enjoy the nature. It’s a big bonus and we can and should use it. The park is great and very close to the location of the Exop center..you can make it by bike very easilly. You can use the public bike system to go to the Charls Clore park as well…and actually – you can get alone very well by bike to wherever you want in TLV in a matter of minutes !!!. perfect for those who want to save their money for other… Read more »

people do it all the time here !! even children !! every summer they bring tents to Sdot-Yam’ beach, Dor beach , the sea of Galilee beaches etc’ – it’s very common here in Israel – lot’s of fun. it’s very orginaized, safe, clean !!!

How is that related to money? May is a busy tourism season in Tel Aviv even without Eurovision. Tel Aviv is a small city, that’s a fact, money doesn’t change that. So yeah there might be a room shortage. Lucky there are so many close cities arround that can accomodate those who can’t find a room.
Meanwhile Belarus is nailing JESC with a bigger arena than ESC next year, and an amzing stage. Weird…
The Minsk Arena has hosted JESC before and supposedly the largest arena located in the capital city.
If Belarus was a size of Israel and had Israels climate, that allows hosting any big event outdoors, I doubt they would have this large indoor venue. Stop doing those pointless comparings. Maybe Belarus should think about democracy first instead of building ”great stages”.
I once wrote a short story for my literature class about a couple falling in love at a Eurovision camping. They did the ‘thing’ while some noisy Armenians were drunkenly singing around the place.

I love the country of Israel, I love Netta and Toy and jumped for joy when they won, but quite honestly this is turning into a disaster. Far worse than Kiev 17 and almost as bad as Malta’s 2nd hosting of the JESC
Israel is a tiny country, people can stay in Hertzeliya which is 7 km away from tel aviv and has a direct train to the venue. This ”problem” is BS. I am also sure that those who scream the most how ”disasterous” the organization is, are people who didn’t ever intend to go to the contest, and just like to post angry hysterical comments.
Train in Shabbat? The Israeli transportation is failure
Don’t quote me on this but I’m pretty sure I’ve read somewhere there are plans to amp bus lines on Shabbat around Eurovision (let alone the fact that there are some bus lines running in Shabbat in the Tel Aviv Metropolis).
It’s not buses but share taxis with max 10 people and a few lines inside Tel Aviv

No skin off my nose – if I go, I’ll probably be staying with cousins who don’t live too far away. Other than that, Airbnb is the way to go. My family’s been using it pretty consistently for trips both here and abroad and it usually doesn’t disappoint. Saved us a ton of money in England and Italy. No, they aren’t paying me. Why do you ask?
