In recent months he’s gone from newlywed to new German Eurovision star to new father. But despite having a lot on the table, Michael Schulte hasn’t forgotten about music. In fact, he’s drawn on all his life experience to hone his craft and make even more magical music. And on Friday he proved the point with the release of the new song “The Love You Left Behind”.
Following the success of his Eurovision entry, Michael won this year’s best new star award at the German Bambi Awards. Back in September, he dropped a single called “Never Let You Down”, which was more upbeat than “You Let Me Walk Alone”. His new release helps cement his identity as an artist, showing he’s not a one-hit wonder.
Writing about it on Instagram, Schulte says that the new song was one of the ten potential songs considered for the national selection. Obviously it wasn’t picked up. However, due to continued requests from his fans, he dropped one of the songs they’d worked on in the songwriting camp. Christmas just came early!
The track is a slower take, similar to “You Let Me Walk Alone”. It’s another piano-driven cut which definitely plays on your emotions! Lyrically, the song deals with the same topic of his Eurovision entry. During the chorus, Schulte sings “I lost you / But all the love you left behind / Will always remind me / Remind me of you”. A moving song!
What do you think of Michael Schulte’s new track? How does it compare to ‘You Let Me Walk Alone’? Let us know down below!
It is great too ,but you let me walk alone is better
So this was the alternative to esc song. The choice he made in the end was better. I’d wish we could also hear Bulgaria alternatives to Bones.
