When SBS Australia announced a national final for Eurovision, we all cheered out of excitement at the potential slayage. And when the artist announcements started pouring out things went up a notch. And now? We have Courtney Act. Basements flooded!

On Tuesday news broke that RuPaul’s Drag Race legend and Celebrity Big Brother winner Courtney Act would participate in Eurovision – Australia Decides, and on Wednesday we were spoiled with her song. Get ready to ‘Fight For Love’ y’all! This is her entry that will compete in Australia’s selection show on February 9th.

The dance floor banger dropped on iTunes and Spotify on Wednesday in Australia, and the streams began racing up shortly after.

In regards to her entry to the national final from Down Under, Courtney — or Shane Jenek when out of drag — said:

“A sweet 16 years after Australian Idol, I have the chance to show Australia how I have grown as an artist and performer and I am so excited! To compete to represent Oz in Eurovision is second only to being on that stage in Tel Aviv and singing my lungs out for my country. Fight For Love is a dancefloor banger all about coming together and fighting for the things we believe in. I think it’s so important to think about the basic human rights of others and to use our collective voices, minds and bodies to lift those people up and bring about change.”

Fan reaction

You guys have been busy tweeting in your hundreds at the reveal of the track. We don’t blame you, as it’s a huge anthem that would go down very well in the Euroclub for sure.

There was also a hilarious reaction from fellow Drag Racer Trinity The Tuck.

In response to the suggestion Courtney has the tightest tuck in the biz, Trinity replied with this, showcasing Courtney’s wardrobe malfunction in the Celeb Big Brother premiere last year. There is penis, so look away if you find sausage offensive.

Still more reactions came from The Veronicas and Eurovision 2018 star SuRie on Courtney’s Instagram post. Fellow E-AD act Sheppard joined in the conversation, sharing their excitement about meeting the drag queen extraordinaire.

A busy winter for Ms Act…

Courtney isn’t just vying for Eurovision — she has her own TV special in the UK on Christmas Eve! Courtney Act’s Christmas Extravaganza will air on Channel 4 in the UK. The show has plenty of famous guests such as Leona Lewis, Zara Larsson and Little Mix. She’s also invited along fellow Drag Race alum Bianca Del Rio, Adore Delano and Darienne Lake!

This queen is famous all over the world thanks to Drag Race. But Courtney is a huge celebrity in the UK in particular. Thanks to her winning stint on reality series Celebrity Big Brother, she could perhaps expect douze points from her friends in Britain if she were to represent Australia.

What was your first reaction to “Fight For Love”? Are you hoping she’ll beat the competition to snatch the Eurovision – Australia Decides crown? Sound off below and let us know what you think!

Love dragrace and it would be cool if Courtney made it to Israel. Unfortunately this song kinda reminds me of all that really awful and cheesy dance music that Ru Paul trys to flog each series, Song really is not good enough.

Hope this isn’t the best Australia Decides has to offer – maybe the early release of the track will dampen enthusiasm by the time we get to a February final.

I think he’ll do great in the national final. i just don’t see him doing well in the semifinal (or grand final) scoreboard in Tel Aviv but I like to see him perform there.

In a way, the song is aggressively bad, but after so many safe choices, it is maybe exactly what Australia needs? Hmm…

Please stop with this “tightest tuck” stuff. that is Trinity’s title. Stop saying it.

This is the kind of song that would finish top 5 in the OGAE vote and then bomb at Eurovision. Australia can keep it.

I have news for all the gay eurofans: not everything that a drag queen does is perfect. You should learn to differentiate the music from the artist. If she wins it will stay in the semis.

I think it’s good, but I don’t think with that song she could do better than Jessica Mauboy. This is the type of song that Eurovision jury would ignore and Australia doesn’t get much support from televoting either. Hopefully, there are better songs in the National Final.

People are being to overly critical. Courtney does have a very large fan base given the exposure she has had over the past 5 years. Australian Idol, Season 6 of RPDR, Celebrity Big Brother and her new show The Bi Life have given her the exposure she needs. The song is a tad basic, I have to agree HOWEVER ladies we are only in December and the NF for Australia is on 9th of February and the Semi Finals don’t start until 14th of May so there’s plenty of time to do a bit of a revamp if she does… Read more »

The chorus is a complete copy of For You by Liam Payne and Rita Ora.

I think it is mainly just bias from the lgbt community. The juries (guessing they will be at the Nf) will ruin her. And I doubt the public would vote for this either.

She really doesn’t have a pleasant voice! And the song just sounds cheap.

I’d have loved it b good but just isn’t.

The worry is that it’ll qualify just because it’s Courtney Act

Sorry, no. The song is trash, and her vocals are autotuned to within an inch of their lives.

If this was sung by ANYONE else but a famous drag queen you would be either criticising it to bits or it wouldn’t even be mentioned. Hypocrites.

I hope this bad song doesn’t even win the final. Australia must have more musical talent than this overproduced attention seeker.

It’s more like a strategy for SBS to boost the rating for Australia Decides. The song is so 2008.

The song is alright. She just needs to make sure to bring it all in her stage performance. Good luck, Courtney!!

Not a bad track but it sounds like being sung by Brendan Murray. Just a bit. XD
