Tonight the second semi-final of France’s Destination Eurovision will take place. There the nine competing acts will perform their entries and face the vote from both an international jury and the public televote.

As tweeted by the official Eurovision France account, you can watch the show live via the following links.

But ahead of the show, what do you think? Earlier we asked wiwibloggs readers who they wanted to qualify from the second semi.

While nine acts will perform tonight, only four can qualify for the grand final. The poll results are now in.

Your favourite act is  Seemone with her emotional track “Tous les deux”. With a total of 1,056 votes and 23.13% respectively, you’ve put her in the top spot!

Closing up in second place is Gabriella. Her track “On cherche encore (Never Get Enough)” accumulated 956 votes, putting her not far behind Seemone with a share of 20.94% of all votes cast.

And in third place was Tracy De Sá. Her sassy urban take on “Por aqui” got your attention and received 14.61% or 667 votes. Following in fourth place was Ugo with “Ce qui me blesse”, on 13.95% of the vote.

So based on the poll results, these four acts are the ones you’d like to see qualify for the French grand final next weekend. At the other end of the table are Noémie and Doutson who didn’t manage to grab as many of your votes, on 3.92% and 2.91% respectively.

But as we’ve seen during last week’s show, anything can change during the live semi-final. It’s the first time we’ll hear all the songs performed live — and in some cases, the first time we’ll hear the full version of the song. As last week’s semi-final showed, a song that slays in the studio version can fall flat on stage — and vice versa.

Tonight’s lucky four will join semi-final one qualifiers Aysat, Bilal Hassani, Chimène Badi and Silvàn Areg in the grand final next Saturday

Who should qualify from the second semi-final of Destination Eurovision?

  1. Seemone – “Tous les deux” 23.13% (1,056 votes)
  2. Gabriella – “On cherche encore (Never Get Enough)” 20.94% (956 votes)
  3. Tracy de Sá – “Por Aqui” 14.61% (667 votes)
  4. Ugo – “Ce qui me blesse” 13.95% (637 votes)
  5. Emmanuel Moire – “La promesse” 8.74% (399 votes)
  6. Philipelise– “Madame la paix” 6.57% (300 votes)
  7. The Divaz – “La voix d’Aretha” 5.21% (238 votes)
  8. Noémie – “Ma petite famille” 3.92% (179 votes)
  9. Doutson– “Sois un bon fils” 2.91% (122 votes)

What do you think? Will Seemone, Gabriella, Tracy de Sá and Ugo qualify for the grand final? Who would you like to see represent France in Tel Aviv? Share your thoughts below!

It is a very good result for Seemone, and I hope such televote support will also be un the final. I really hope the international judges will be different than the semi’s Bilal’s fanboys.

The results 1. Seemone- Deserved 2. Emmanuel Moire- Surprise 3. The Divas- Seriously? 4. Doutson- Ah 5. Ugo- Thank god 6. Gabriella- What?! 7. Phillipelise- Meh 8. Tracy de Sá- OMG 9. Noémie- *Rage quit* F*ck the juries. They’ve got it wrong. There bottom three consisted of three of my qualifiers (but the fourth was Seemone so I can give them that) and they put Ugo 2nd and The Divas 4th? Also I find it how Doutson made the final despite not making the jury’s or the televote’s top 4. Nonetheless here are the 8 finalists of Destination Eurovision 2019.… Read more »

Only locked qualifier is Seemone (CONGRATS 🙂 ) Other 3 could possibly go if the public ranked them last. My hunch is that Ugo will remain a qualifier, but I think Gabriella also might qualify on televote.

Nope France got it right. It’s the international juries to blame.

I’m surprised that Gabriella did so poorly with the international juries, they normally love this kind of performance. Seemone got 12 points from all of them. I’m not used to agree with Christer Björkman, it’s a strange feeling!

I liked her performance and I think she deserves a place in the final. But being realistic, her song wouldn’t succeed in the contest.

It’s tough to say yet and it would depend on if she can chanel those emotions again and again like she did tonight (running order also could help or hurt). The thing is that I don’t see any song in Destination Eurovision that screams “winner”, so I think the French audience should think more about how they feel about those songs than to try to project what can happen.

Gabriella’s cover made me think that she’s way better than her song. Since I don’t think she’ll win this year, I would love if she came back with a song that allows us to appreciate more of her voice.

My qualifiers would be Seemone, Gabriella, The Divaz and Emmanuel (but please tone down the theatricals!). I wouldn’t mind if Ugo finds his way to the final.

Too bad for Ugo. The song may not be transcendent, but I rather like it, and he was OK vocally. I’m actually not surprised it did well with the international juries. If only he’d come with his guitar… His attitude on stage didn’t fit the song at all. It felt like he was trying too hard, while in the interview, he actually seemed really shy. I was hoping he’d get a second chance to improve his stage performance.

After the performances, counting in lives, vocals, lyrics, melody and impact, my honest opinion:
1. Seemone, 2. Ugo, 3. Gabriella, 4. The Divaz /// 5. Emmanuel Moire, 6. Doutson, 7. Tracy, 8. Noemie, 9. PhilipElise

I found Gabriella disappointing (I wasn’t a fan of her song in the first place). My qualifiers would have been:
1. Seemone – 2. Ugo – 3. The Divaz (don’t like the song, but those girls can sing) – 4. Emmanuel Moire (what the heck was that choregraphy?)

PhilipElise – I really like “Madame La Paix” as a song concept, and it was good to see some effort put into energizing the audience during the performance. But… I fear the singer has been outperformed tonight, and the audience had already made up their minds about who they liked best. Good form, but bad draw.

I guess this could be the opener and Gabriella should close the night. It would probably be better for both of them. Though I think Gabriella will easily qualify, so it was more like a problem to PhilipElise.

Doutson – This is probably the best lyrical song, and a potential radio hit. But live, this sounded a bit pitchy, and don’t get me started about using child performers – cringe. Great song, but the execution was off tonight. Sorry.

Emmanuel Moire – I have been a fan of his for a long time before this, so it is difficult for me not to fanboy on him. Honest reaction:
What is going on with that choreography? Much more heavy and dramatic than I was expecting. But, Emmanuel’s “from the heart” explanation afterwards was worth it. It works for HIM. But, that’s not how I interpreted the song at all, originally. So I’m thrown. Suddenly he’s a wildcard. Could go either way.

Ugo looks, moves and sounds like the very first love of my life. So, it is psychologically difficult for me to watch him without feeling something. The song enhances that, and all my own memories flood back when he performs. It’s really quite a profound experience. Maybe too profound for Eurovision?

Sabrina

Definitely not bad for a first love experience, ahn? 🙂 I personally felt that something was off. Maybe the instrumental wasn’t strong enough and his voice sounded too exposed. Anyway, whatever the issue is, it’s manageable. I like the song.

It was a bad first love experience, hence it’s amazing how the song accurately reflects that. It was 20 years ago and I’m still not over that pain. Credit to the songwriters that the emotion of “ce qui me blesse” can actually reflect that. But the kind of pain is perhaps too personal for Eurovision, I feel.

Another week of DE 2019. So far no vocal fails (we still have to wait for the live shows) unfortunately I can’t talk about The Divas as they didn’t rehearse. 1. Seemone- Tous Le Deux. I’ve loved it from the very first listen and it gets better every time I listen. It’s beautiful and the French audience will really get behind the meaning. It would be a tragedy if it got eliminated. 2. Gabriella- On Cherche Encore. Wow! Her vocals are amazing and she has a fantastic stage show. All in all, the fans are completely right about Seemone and that she has the best song, but the French public are mainly rallying behind Bilal or Chimene. On YouTube, Bilal has 89% viewership, with the other videos put together, so it would be a real shame to waste this masterpiece and send a bland, cliché song that’s bottom 5 material!

I hope France don’t make a mistake, then again, it seems to be more about the singer than the song nowadays!

France will do the “mistake” IMHO. Ok, Seemone is leading odds (= bookies thinks she will win). Lovely song. Really. For me it is the best one this year for France. BUT to be honest, I think that Bilal will win (depite it is not my cup of tea): Jury: juries love the “packages”. His show is the best one, his voice is not exceptional but good. Catchy song. Televote: Bilal will be high and could even get votes from Florina’s fans (same kind of music) On the other side: Jury vote: I don’t think (if she qualifies for final)… Read more »
