He left a big impression at Eurovision 2019, coming second for Italy with “Soldi”. And in recent months things certainly haven’t slowed down for Mahmood. On his latest work, the Italian singer now proves his force as a songwriter for his fellow Italian singers. This includes penning Francesca Michielin’s new single “Cheyenne”.
Earlier this month, Mahmood won the MTV EMA Award for Best Italian Act. His most recent single “Barrio” is now double platinum in Italy and surpassed a total of 20 million streams on Spotify. It has also proven its success on YouTube, with the music video racking up more than 30 million views.
And while his Europa Good Vibes Tour has just came to an end, there are lots of other recent projects the singer is featured on.
Mahmood co-writes Francesca Michielin’s “Cheyenne”
The “Soldi” singer has been particularly active as a songwriter. “Cheyenne” is one of his latest songwriting contributions. Working together with Charlie Charles, Alessandro Raina and Davide Simonetta, they delivered the new single for Italy’s Eurovision 2016 entrant Francesa Michielin.
Normally, Francesca writes songs herself. However, when Mahmood first introduced the song to her in September, she was clearly touched by the songs’ lyrics.

The Eurovision connections don’t stop there. Mahmood was also involved in the songwriting process for “2000 volte” by Marco Mengoni, who represented Italy in Malmö back in 2013.
In addition, the Italian star has also written a song for X Factor Italy winner Chiara Galiazzo. Titled “L’Ultima canzone del undo” (“The last song of the world”), it’s another proof of his creative diversity.
Working behind the scenes on all these projects, it’s definitely easy to loose sight of what the Italian superstar has been up to. Twitter user @contechristino sums it all up with his post listing all of Mahmood’s recent involvements, accompanied by a incisive GIF.

Collaborating with Marracash and tha Supreme
Mahmood himself has also featured on a number of other songs recently. This includes “Non Sono Marra” by Marracash. The track is part of Marracash’s new album Persona, which achieved gold status in Italy just one week after its release.
Sonically, the song draws upon a striving chord progression, which ultimately leads into an anthemic club chorus.

Mahmood also worked together with Italian rapper tha supreme on “8tosk1”. This collaboration almost feels to be out of the Eurovision alum’s comfort zone. However, it’s still an impressive body of work and once again goes to prove the artistic versatility Mahmmod possesses.
Thankfully, in amongst all of this, Mahmood has not forgotten to continue working on his own solo material. He’s confirmed that he’s currently working on his upcoming sophomore album, which is set for release next year.
Additionally, the Italian star hasn’t given up his interest in fashion. In the latest “What is love?” campaign for Burberry, the singer can be seen wearing a set of designer clothes that will feature as part of the upcoming Burberry spring runway collection.

He is one of the best italian singers of this time, I’m proud of him ?
You just need to read this article to realise how talented and hard-working Alessandro is. He is so versatile that he can outdo any kind of collaboration even though it might be really different to what he’s used to. He’s an outstanding singer songwriter and I’m really happy that more people are getting to enjoy his music thanks to Eurovision as he could show the world what he can do. His voice is always so stable and clean on stage even though he moves gracefully and passionately through the songs. Plus he’s a really sensitive and kind soul, always performing… Read more »
