Baby Lasagna — real name Marko Purišić — wasn’t originally picked for Dora 2024. But earlier this week producers from Croatia’s national broadcaster revealed that Zsa Zsa had withdrawn and that they were replacing her with a slice of lasagna.

Now the “Rim Tim Tagi Tim” singer is making the most of it. In a matter of days he’s emerged as an international fan favourite. We got him on Zoom for a quick kiki about his surprising journey, which, he says, left him unable to properly digest his food.

Among other things he reveals that his song was inspired by the mass exodus of young people from Croatia. As the lyrics go…

“Now don’t call, don’t write
I’m leavin’ with the first light
Don’t cry, but dance
Rim-tim-tagi-digi-dim-dim-tim”

How could HRT put this as a reserve?
It’s got Eurovision final written all over it!

They say that this song is plagiat, that he stole song from other, at least part of it. How many songs were copy pasted and used on Eurovision. Baby Lasagna did a fine job.

when you listen to cha cha and immediately after to this song it’s exactly the same energy and vibe, I was hoping for a little more originality for ESC 2024

Sorry I dont see it. They both are different from usual ballads but nothing alike. Both energetic but in different way, and both have unique vibe. Again, unlike many ballads which are all the same and most unmemorable.

The people involved in the selection should be fired immediately. How on earth can you put this on reserve??? Are they for real?? They better support him and help him stage this song well cause the potential is HUGE.

Guys, bad news! The main leaked audio video for Rim Tim Tagi Dim that had been accumulating almost 50,000 views in several days has been removed! I think the Youtube channel got deleted for copyright! Also, the other one that had slightly less views is gone too! Are the runners of Dora and the jury trying to stop the virality of the song and put it down so that it doesn’t accumulate support?!

Interesting topic and certainly a different approach than how Albania 2019 tackled it.

I’m not too much into the song, but I can relate with what he said about people leaving home for better opportunities. I come from a decaying place and nowadays most of my friends live elsewhere, it’s depressing and I can’t wait for the time I leave town myself 🙁

A lot of potential Esc quirkies entries so far and it’s only the beginning of the season. A certain Esc 2023 runner up must have something to do with this quirky mania. 5 Miinust, Nebulossa, Let 3, Baby Lasagna, Super Rob, Matt Blacx, Keiino, The Roop soon, and we have Joost Klein confirmed already. I mean the eurofans liking only this kind of music can’t complain this year. We even had Mydy and Luan in Czechia and Albania. 2022 Chanel dance break, 2023 a lot of dance breaks; 2023 Cha Cha Cha, 2024 a lot of quirkies entries I can… Read more »

I’m tired of the comments on so called kaarija wannabees, each year ESC has more than one ballad and more than one up-tempo song.

You could have said he was a Little Big wannabe and then wannabes of the ‘troll’ entries of the 2000s…this argument could go on for YEARS

How exactely is this Kaarija wannabe? Now everyone who is not singing a balad or not staying in one genre will be Kaarija wannabe? As others pointed out, also Kaarija was accused of plagiarism, since his stype was close to some other bands… Nothing is new anymore. Kaarija did make a great show, I loved it and hoped him to win. But just cause he had something crazy and different does not mean everyone else are copying him.

It sounds a bit the same in the beginning I agree, what do you mean with wannabees? So far this the only song inspired by cha cha cha

Biggest potential Croatia had in this century for sure. He seems so humble, genuine and happy that he even got a chance. It triggers discussion which is the most important thing when it comes to ESC. If the stage performance is done well, this could s l a y!

The song is excellently written. It has good vocals especially in the chorus and that chorus is actually memorable – take it from certain people in the community who dont normally like these types of songs. It’s also a rock song with rap verses, which unite fans of both, whilst disco and dance lovers are united through the breakdown towards the end. That said breakdown also adds a new layer to the song and keeps the song fresh and not boring. Marko is a great writer that deserves the Eurovision stage and the staging potential is extremely high.

I am affraid of jury not voting for him in Dora since he was their 25th option. I can see him doing great with the televote. Hope I am wrong about the jury and that he will make it. I just feel Like this would be a great option after Croatia 2023 and Let 3. People definitely remember them. A second option in Dora 2024 for me would be Vinko with an amazing emtional balad and a great male voice. OMG! Love that one and can see it doing OK at ESC! I am not a huge fan of Gasoline… Read more »

You know that initial selection committee for the television and the juries in the national final are completely different people right? Last year in Benidorm RTVE’s favourite was “Flamenco” by Aritz yet it wasn’t even a qualifier by the jury in the end nor the professional nor demoscopic. Meanwhile Agoney came 2nd overall while being 16/18 on that list so it really does not matter.

He seems SO sweet and genuine…he has no alterior motive or agenda, that’s what’s so wholesome about him! He deserves to win on the back of that. He’s clearly an ordinary guy who thinks realistically and isn’t obssessed about his ego.

The best song should win, it is ridiculous to suggest an act should win based on their personality or character.

Idk, I feel like his personality is reflected in his music. He’s got another song that goes more in depth about this called ‘Don’t hate yourself but don’t love yourself too much’ and then regarding this song, you can see the two conflicting sides through the rocky choruses speaking about anxiety and the rap verses. You’ve also got the dance breakdowns at the end that show a completely different side.
