Angelina Mango – “La noia” (Italy Eurovision 2024)
Review: Angelina Mango – “La noia”
Pablo: We’re all aware that Italy plays on a whole different level, and even then, they are still capable of shocking everybody. “La Noia” is European pop perfection. This Stromae-coded number brings never-before-seen elements and makes them feel familiar and chic. The steelpan, the brash instrumentals that carry the chorus, the fast and slow delivery, it all clicks how it needs to, with a strong acapella closure bound to become a highlight in the line-up. They have the song, they have the performer, and if they achieve the correct staging, there’s no reason to believe Italy can’t take the title once again.
Score: 9.5
Tom: Loved this from the first listen and still love it now. Angelina controlled the stage during her Sanremo winning performance and I can’t wait to see what she brings on stage in Sweden. Full of energy, musicality, sass and verve to please the audiences at home, plus it’s also packed full of talent and magical moments to appease the juries. It’s guaranteed for a top five finish.
Score: 9
Simon: The Italians ended up serving us some delicious Mango! That catchy chorus has been stuck in my head for a long time now, and Angelina is a captivating performer who I’m sure will shine on that stage in Malmö. For now this is my favourite to win the whole thing, and how refreshing it would be to see Italy do well with a solo female performer.
Score: 8.5
Georgia: Italy never disappoints! The song boasts a catchy and contemporary tune that channels the energetic pop-dance style reminiscent of Rosalía’s music. Its fusion of pop and Latin American influences creates a captivating blend, drawing listeners in with its vibrant rhythm and lively beats. Angelina’s authentic delivery adds a genuine and relatable touch to the track, enhancing its appeal. Overall, this fusion of genres injects a unique and exciting flavour into this year’s Eurovision line-up. With the right staging, this song has the potential to achieve high scores both from juries and televoting.
Score: 9.5

Italy is my definitely my pick for the winner for this year, it is one of the few songs this year that has potential to score well with both juries and televoters. 8/10
ITALY – As diverse as they are great, Sanremo winners never disappoint on Eurovision in recent years. A solo woman won after a decade, but it was worth the wait. La noia (The Boredom) is an uptempo song influenced by the Latin and the Mediterranean pop. It is both incredibly polished and charmingly accessible. The rhythm delivers an instant punch. The structure seems easy to get at first, but it offers a lot of variety and surprising little twists. There are a lot of places where it slows down and picks up the pace soon after, but it follows the… Read more »
I gotta be completely honest: I just can’t with this song. I find it very annoying and unpleasant. I don’t like the performance, the song nor the music style. I can appreaciatte the quality behind and the artistry of Angelia though, as we are used to from Italy, but that’s all. That’s the only thing that keep my score above 5. I don’t believe it has the potential to win, and not because I don’t like it but because it doesn’t really stand out in anything at all. Of course it is Italy and has a top 10 place guaranteed… Read more »
Thank God you are not the jury because you have no musical taste as can ben seen from your top5
Czechia is good on the studio cut but come on the live vocals are really weak. No 2 is just a joke considering you don’t like Italy ????
Uncharismatic hack with a boring song 3/10
I do think she is a great artist with excellent stagepresence and good vocals. Its a joy to watch her performing.
But I dont like the song unfortunately.
Its works on my nerves and cant connect with it.
Italy will do very well, no doubt!!
Italy manages to make feel like they know exactly how the contest ticks, because once again they send an entry that is completely capable of winning the entire thing. I like that Angelina is the first female Italian representative since 2016 (not that I care about genders whatsoever) but the same male-ballad formula (excluding Maneskin of course) had run stale by now. The song is an absolute earworm, Angelina is a stellar performer, the lyrics are well written, and we’re bound to see this do well regardless. I am happy to call Italy my winner this year. It’s one of… Read more »
When this one came up, I wasn’t that impressed, but now it’s completely different story. I suspect not everyone would recognize this song’s potential on the first listening. At least I don’t know anybody who doesn’t enjoy italian music. La noia will have a long life after Eurovision. It is huge.
Italy’s “La Noia” is my No. 2 in ESC 2024. Wow, everything about this entry is stunning. Where do I start? There’s the Verse 1 rapping that is perfectly timed and graded in pitch with the song; There’s the “refrain of boredom” repeating four times while the backing track sprinkles descending triplets on top; There’s the highly emotive Pre-Chorus melody in triplets that hits me right in the heart along with strings in the backing track; There’s that latin beat; There’s To-TAL… Business… Princess… But even after that all that, I am stunned most of all by that last big… Read more »
Great review!
Italy is a worthy contender this year.
Simply the best entry this year, regardless of any results, she’s obviously gonna be more successful after the contest than flash-in-the-pan typical ESC stuff like the ones from Croatia and Switzerland…
18th place – Italy (personal ranking) This song is… okay. To this very day I can not understand the hype behind it. I feel like I’m left behind or something. What does everyone see in this that it has a chance of winning Eurovision? The song is cool but I personally think the performance is boring. It doesn’t grab me and keep my attention at all. Maybe I’m just being weird, but I definitely prefer someone else to win instead of her. Considering she’s already in the final, I think she will place well, most likely in the top 10.… Read more »
Italy is the consistently strongest nation in Eurovision these days. “La noia” is another excellent entry, maybe not this year´s winner, but certainly up there in the top 5. 9/10
Too bad they suck on stagings. Which often is their downfall.
We are talking of music, here, not of stages. So, as Sweden is very good on stagings (always the same, more or less), are they allowed to win it all the time so we will promote better diversity and inclusiveness?
It’ll be top three but won’t win. Joost and bd y will take 75% of the televote so no way will one country dominate the jury like loreen to counter that
The first bit isn’t strong enough on a big stage. It sounds empty until after the first chorus
Netherlands would be bottom 5 in the jury because the song is just trash
My favourite of this year! So happy to see these high scores
I said this before – the instrumental is heavenly, just fantastic But as I was warming up to her delivery, I checked out the lyrics and…oh boy. Everything about it is giving spoiled rich kid’s problems. And then I realized she’s also a nepo baby.
I-
At least she’s a nepo baby who inherited talent, not just wealth and connections.
A talent for whining, judging from this song. :p
Nepo babies are truly awful when they get their gigs due to nepotism (hello Austria! I know what happened.) But Angelina Mango so clearly has so much talent, she won an incredibly tough competition by her own merit. No nepo baby can sing and move like that by nepotism. That’s more in the department of Poland 2023. On top of performing her own song, she gave an incredibly moving performance of her father’s song. A nepo baby can’t sing like that. Only talent can.
I am more thinking of her as a hippie somehow with these lyrics
Not really a nepo baby, more like huge amount of pressure due to her parents successes in the industry
Oh, so you mean like posturing?
But, like, whatever. I don’t, I cannot connect to these messages. I cannot unhear it, no matter how cool it is sonically. The concept of boredom was always so strange and unknown to me. I just never understood it. Not as a kid, and certainly not now.
Definite top 3 in the final, and my no. 1 for the year, her vocal is stunning. My hunch is while it won’t win either jury or televote it will get enough from both to come out on top like Arcade did.
Sinceramente tuaaa. Quando quando quando.
Italy is certainly in the running to take the victory home or things must go really wrong. Even I think this is a good song…So yeah, I wouldn’t mind if Italy won..
My no3. I think this year’s contest is quite open, which is nice for suspense at the final. But sadly no song this year is going to be a Eurovision epic or classic work in the way songs of the last decade or so have been.
Sorry, I mean the winners specifically.
I think Italy would finish in top 3 🙂 The song is much better than Switzerland’s song in my opinion. But I think jury points would determine the main position.
This is catchy, fun and full of attitude. It kinda got lost in Sanremo for me… but I think the 5hr long shows didn’t help. But the studio cut is pretty darn decent! Hopefully staging will elevate this and bring a good vibe to the grand final!
Score 9.5/10
I mean… she won Sanremo…
I can only see two countries ending up top three with both juries and televoters…Italy and Switzerland. I think one of those two will win the contest.
I think you are completely right!
Neither will win the televote but will get enough to win overall.
And possibly Ukraine as well. Their are always strong with the televoting after the invasion and the juries will appreciate them as well. I believe the winner is among these three countries
I can’t see Switzerland making top 3 in televote, I would guess between 50 and 100 points (or a “Malta” level score).
I think they’ll do better…130-150 at least. With 270-300 jury score.. enough to win,?
Annoyer. 1 point.
14TH PLACE: ITALY: One of the rare instances when Italy is not in my top 5 or even higher. The song is certainly good, with interesting lyrics and is also elevated by Angelina’s live performance: she is amazing. I never connected to it as much as others, though I do find it to be a good, well-performed, fun entry. I always thought that it kinda struggled to decide what it wanted to be: I can see Madame’s influence in some of the verses but then we get this big Latin-inspired pre-chorus and chorus that are not fully for me. It’s… Read more »
It will be remembered for about six minutes once ESC is over. In the meantime, I enjoy it for what it is and it’s nice for Italy to go with something different. Top 5 finish I’d guess.
Different, I know. When was the last time Italy sent a woman?
Just checked – since they returned in 2011 – only three women represented Italy. The last was 2016.
Top 10 finish for sure
I like Angelina, song is cute… Is it something that i would listen? Absolutely not. But i can see appeal for many people. She might do better with televote than jury, i have a gut feeling. She will finish top 5 as i can see a lot of people like the song. I doubt that’s bcs this is song is from Italy
There were better entries in this year’s San Remo, I don’t like this song it’s boring.
it is a breath of fresh air comparing to most of their recent entries, apart from Occidentali’s Karma then
very solid fun song, with the right way of marketing this song can go huge i think in the summer
8.0
good entry, although my personal sanremo fave was Ricchi E Poveri
And yet she’s not singing in English, which you seem to detest. Weird.
not a threat anyway for our Israel, so i can be nice towards her

Italia 10,5/12
What’s so good about Italian entries is the genuine emotions that artists put in their performances. Italians don’t like rehearsing too much, they’d rather improvise and let the talent speak for itself. And when they’re forced to rehearse, the result is something like the Occidentali’s Karma performance lol. Either way, Angelina is very likable and spontaneous, she’ll do great.
so strong for italy once more. 8.5/10, top 10 finish again and well deserved
Basically if you’re a girl with a pop song you’ll get a 10 from Cinan….
10/10 means a song should be perfect and he seems to think that Cyprus, Austria and Italy are indeed perfect. I think I might speak for the majority when I say that Italy might just be slightly better than Cyprus.
Sir, this is a Wend…….Wiwibloggs.
Ok, but this is a good song, so why not?
Cinan is a simp.
Cinan is an exemplar!
I wrote something similar about Cinan on another post and then some old queen starting screaming “EVERY OPINION IS VALID” in my replies. We all know that there are some intellectually challenged folk in the comment section but they really do need to be told that all opinions aren’t equal. It’s fine for Cinan to have a twelve-year old girl’s taste in music. It’s not fine to think that opinion carries the same weight as that of actual musicians.
It carries the same weight as the viewers at home voting, though. All sorts of people’s opinions make up the televote, I think this “in-house team of music unprofessionals” is supposed to reflect that.
But not all musicians are good musicians. And anyway, what’s wrong with 12 year old girls’ music tastes?
If the purchases of that demographic are anything to go by then those tastes are orientated towards the exceptionally simple, the repetitive, the “easy to do”. There are, of course, 12 year old’s who have more sophisticated tastes. If a song can be written by practically anyone (and that’s far too many pop songs in the 21st century), it is not equal to the value of, say, Beethoven’s Fifth or Holst’s Planets, because it requires exceptional talent and intelligence to create music like that. The value of the music reflects the rareness of those qualities. Just nobody would pay the… Read more »
I think you are misunderstanding the purpose of music to human beings
Guys… its not that deep. I just find it rather amusing how “typical eurofan” Cinan’s taste is haha
I know. We hate him because he reflects something in ourselves.
This reminds me of Stromae. I enjoy the song although I’m not sure it lends itself well to staging opportunities.
If this were San Marino’s entry, y’all would’ve hated it for how repetitive and annoying it is and it would’ve been a contender for last place
Sadly i can perfectly see that would be the case.
Nonetheless, I absolutely love this song!
San Marino is underrated this year by a long mile, wish fandom would show more love to Megara and Queen Kenzy, they literally have everything what it takes to be a fan favourite
and tbh song wise 11:11 is maybe worse than Arcadia but still very good (and hope it qualifies it would give that bit of a rock representation moment in the final)
Didn’t Adrenalina get positive reviews?
Overhyped Italy. Switzerland is my winner. I get it now. Croatia is more deserving of hype as well.
This is a great modern song that has the potential to be a hit this summer. I would love to see Italy win again with this song. Angelina has stage charisma and can sing. I think juries will vote for it so the question is how far it can go in the televoting.
Modern by ESC standards, where late random, unnecessary rap breaks are still ‘cool’. But I was listening to Latin American music that sounded exactly like this in the mid-nineties.
My number 1 this year, such a banger and could easily have a life of its own outside of Eurovision.
Best of luck Italia!! As of now, my favourite and my winner
I think the opposite. That the song is just San Remo and Eurovision.
It has over 50 million streams on Spotify. You know Milla, outside of Sweden real-life people listen to more than one genre of songs!
Even inside of Sweden. I know this for a fact. They exist and they’re nice.
Oooh MEAOW
Even inside of Sweden, Swedes usually like and listen to other kinds of music once Melfest is over.
34. Italy – Angelina Mango – La Noia – 5/10 – I have tried so hard with this. I can see positives. I greatly admire the artistry and the interesting lyrical message. Angelina is undoubtedly a solid and reliable performer. Sadly, the track is not to my taste. I find the instrumentation to be quite irritating. To English-speaking ears the chorus sounds like “annoy ya” and it is unfortunately apt for this part of the song – there is no coherence and the different note-runs really grate on me such that I find it sonically quite difficult to listen to.… Read more »
Gold star!
Im surpriced wiwi gave it high grades.
But yeah hard to say bad things aoout this one. Gl. Angelina
12) Italy – While Italy is not in my personal top 10 (I don’t listen to it enough to place any higher), this is still a really great song. Angelina’s energy is perfect, the Dardust production is very good, and it’s refreshing to have something like this coming from Italy. I have a feeling this will do very well in Malmö. 8/10
3 countries left, Switzerland, Croatia, The Netherlands, so my top 3 wiwi jury prediction:
1. Switzerland
2. Croatia
3. Italy
My guess is Switzerland will get more than 9 and Croatia almost 9.
I think Croatia will be nr. 1
We’ll see that very soon, interesting to see also how this wiwi jury will react to The Netherlands
It baffles me how that Swiss song is supposed to have such a universal acclaim. To me, that song is actually very niche, both when it comes to the sound/structure and about its meaning, no one outside of online snowflakes can relate to it!
Ok Annie your opinion, I’m not judging the songs here but I tried to predict their rankings and thank you for the downvotes 😉
I know, I was just arguing against the expectation of Switzerland’s song being so high in the ranking considering it’s certainly not for everyone. But I often see these polls being heavily influenced by the betting odds and peer pressure so it might be as you say.
I don’t think Switzerland get higher
Nice. A TOP 5 for sure this year in ESC. I would not be surprised if she goes TOP 3 or even for another Victory for Italy.
Which countries are left in Wiwi Jury? Netherlands and Croatia? Anyone else?
And Switzerland.
Thank you, Dominic! 🙂
Someone just wrote a comment 1 minute after me. Switzerland is the one I forgot about. That’s probably what I’ll do during voting. Sorry, Switzerland.
First time my personal winner ends up toping the challenging Sanremo scoreboard with Mrs. Mango. She litteraly devours the stage with each one of her “La noia” performances. Italian song this year has everything to impress and attract a very large audience : ultra-charismatic singer, top-notch vocals, a melody full of consistence with drawn elements from the latin culture and an exquisite aceppela twist. La gioia, total !
Good to see Italy sending something different rather than a male ballad. It’s a good song, currrent, radio friendly but it’s not one I’m listening to on repeat. It’s a not winner for me but top 5 seems realistic.
No hate spread yet here, I’m really early today..
They are coming lol
Winner??
Love! This would be the best Eurovision winner in ages. Italy is music. It needs no gimmicks or shiny objects, it has enough class to not rely on anything but their product. Italy is the Eurovision department I go go go to when I don’t wanna be brokenhearted.
“no gimmicks” says about a weirldy dressed young girl in a shiny stage moving with gimmickygestures to Latin background music.
